Chapter 384 It was you!

The two walked out of the supply and marketing cooperative carrying their bags. When they were a few steps away from the jeep, Xu Xinghe was talking to Jiang Linchuan about the pattern of the fabric. She didn't notice the person coming from in front of her and accidentally bumped into a figure on her shoulder.

"Ouch!" the other person exclaimed softly, staggering slightly.

"I'm so sorry!" Xu Xinghe quickly steadied herself and looked up to apologize. "I wasn't watching where I was going. Are you alright?"

"It's alright." The other person smiled gently, their voice soft and sweet, with a slight foreign accent.

Xu Xinghe then got a good look at the woman in front of him. She was about forty years old and was wearing a long, moon-white cheongsam with an exquisite black trim at the neckline. She also wore a black velvet shawl over it, which accentuated her slender figure.

Her hair was neatly combed, clearly permed, and loosely pulled back, revealing her smooth forehead. She wore light makeup, with delicately drawn eyebrows and lipstick, making her complexion look exceptionally good.

Such attire and demeanor stood out in the city full of blue work clothes and military green uniforms, clearly indicating that they were not local residents.

"I'm so glad you're alright." Xu Xinghe breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but take a few more glances.

The woman was indeed beautiful, with a gentle grace that came with age in her eyes and brows. When she smiled, there were faint lines at the corners of her eyes, which only added to her charm.

"I was walking too fast." The woman smiled again, her gaze sweeping lightly over Xu Xinghe and Jiang Linchuan. Her eyes were gentle, and she didn't linger. Picking up her small leather suitcase, she turned and quickly walked into the alley next to her, disappearing from sight in no time.

"You're visiting relatives from out of town, right?" Xu Xinghe said casually to Jiang Linchuan as she watched her retreating figure.

"Most likely." Jiang Linchuan nodded and opened the car door for her. "Get in, let's go back."

Xu Xinghe didn't think much of it. Relatives from other places often came to the military headquarters or the city to visit relatives. It was just that this woman's attire was too exquisite, which made her more memorable.

The jeep drove out of the city and soon stopped in front of the military headquarters.

Xu Xinghe unbuckled her seatbelt and caught a glimpse of a familiar figure standing at the door.

It was the woman in the cheongsam I bumped into in the city earlier!

She was standing next to the guardhouse, still holding the small leather suitcase in her hand, seemingly waiting for someone, gazing elegantly into the military headquarters.

"Look, it's the same person we bumped into earlier. He's actually come to the military headquarters."

Jiang Linchuan looked in the direction she pointed, and just as he was about to speak, he saw Director Li walk out of the military compound, seemingly about to go out.

The woman in the cheongsam's eyes lit up immediately, and she quickly stepped forward, carrying her suitcase. "Old Li!"

Director Li was clearly surprised to see her here. He paused, quite taken aback, and asked, "What brings you here?"

"I've been having dreams about you for the past two days, and I'm so worried about you." The woman walked up to him and gently patted his arm. "I just couldn't sit still, so I didn't tell you beforehand. I bought a ticket and rushed over. I hope I didn't disturb your work? I'm so glad you're alright, so glad you're alright."

Director Li smiled helplessly and took the suitcase from her hand. "I'm not going to the front lines to fight, what could possibly happen? The military headquarters is so safe. But it's good that you're here; you can stay with me for a few more days."

Xu Xinghe then realized that this woman was Director Li's wife!

No wonder he came to the military headquarters; he must have come specifically to visit relatives.

She didn't look any further and got out of the car with Jiang Linchuan.

Jiang Linchuan and Xu Xinghe got out of the car and went up to greet Director Li, "Director Li."

The woman's gaze instantly fell on the two of them. She was taken aback for a moment, then a smile appeared on her face. "Oh my, isn't this the young man I bumped into in the city earlier? What a coincidence to run into him here again!"

Director Li turned to his wife and asked, "Do you two know each other?"

"We're not really acquaintances, we just bumped into each other in the city." The woman explained with a smile, then turned to Xu Xinghe and Jiang Linchuan and introduced herself gently, "My name is Lin Hui, and I'm Lao Li's wife. I'm really sorry, I was walking too fast and didn't watch where I was going."

"Hello Aunt Lin, my name is Xu Xinghe, and this is Jiang Linchuan." Xu Xinghe quickly responded with a polite smile on her face. "I wasn't watching where I was going just now, so I should be the one apologizing."

"Look at you, so polite." Lin Hui waved her hand with a smile, her eyes sweeping over the two of them. The more she looked at them, the more pleasing they seemed to her. She enthusiastically suggested, "Since we're so lucky, why don't we come over for dinner tonight? I brought some specialties from the capital and will also cook a few of my signature dishes. Let's have a good time."

Director Li had been hoping to use this opportunity to build a good relationship with Xu Xinghe to make things easier with the prescription later, so upon hearing this, he immediately smiled and agreed, "That's right, Comrade Xu, Commander Jiang, come over tonight! My wife's cooking is absolutely superb, even better than what's served in the cafeteria. You'll see once you try it."

Lin Hui nodded in agreement, her tone becoming even more enthusiastic, "Yes, it's settled then! We'll be waiting for you in the guesthouse room at six o'clock tonight, so please don't be shy!"

Xu Xinghe felt a little embarrassed and was about to decline when Jiang Linchuan gently nudged her arm. "Then thank you very much, Director Li and Mrs. Lin. We will definitely be there tonight."

"That's right!" Lin Hui smiled, her eyes crinkling. "No need to bring anything, just the people. Old Li, quickly take the young comrades to the guesthouse to register for a room. It'll be a bigger place. I'll go back and tidy up and prepare dinner."
