Xu Xinghe seized the opportunity to pick up a stone and throw it near the wolfhound.
The stone landed with a crisp sound, but the wolfhounds were too busy eating their meat to even lift their eyelids, completely indifferent.
Xu Xinghe breathed a sigh of relief, feeling more at ease.
She took out meat from her spatial storage again, one piece after another, and threw it continuously into the open spaces on both sides of the passage, deliberately scattering the meat in different locations.
As the amount of meat increased, the wolfhounds were busy eating it. Some of them took meat and hid to the side to gnaw on it, while others were still fighting over pieces of meat on the ground, completely ignoring the movements around them.
Taking advantage of the break, Xu Xinghe lowered his body, quickened his pace, and rushed towards the passage like a gust of wind.
She stayed close to the edge of the passage, quickly passing through the wolfhounds' guard range; the whole process took no more than ten seconds.
The wolfhounds didn't even glance at her, let alone attack her; they remained engrossed in the temptation of the food.
These specially trained wolfhounds, while extremely lethal, are ultimately limited in intelligence and will follow whoever offers them the best treatment.
Beyond the entrance lies a deeper, more secluded passage.
The light was dimmer than before.
Xu Xinghe gripped his pistol tightly and cautiously walked inside.
After walking for about a minute, another area appeared ahead, with several cages arranged here as well. However, unlike the simple ones in the dungeon outside, these cages were made of sturdy iron and looked much more secure.
The people imprisoned in the cages were also completely different from the villagers outside.
Although they were also dressed in rags and looked tired, their backs remained straight and their eyes were sharp. Even though they were locked in cages, they still exuded a unique spirit.
That is the unique tenacity and fortitude of soldiers!
When one of the middle-aged men saw Xu Xinghe, a hint of wariness flashed in his eyes, but he did not get excited like the villagers outside. He simply looked her over calmly, as if trying to determine her identity.
Xu Xinghe's heart skipped a beat.
These people are indeed soldiers!
They were most likely arrested while on a espionage mission and are now being held here.
Then Jiang Linchuan must be among them!
She slowed her pace and said softly, "I'm here to find someone. Is there a strong, adult male among you who was brought in recently?"
Upon hearing her words, the soldiers in the cage exchanged glances.
An older-looking soldier spoke up, his voice hoarse but strong, "Who are you? Why are you looking for him?"
“I am his comrade, here to rescue him. Don’t worry, I am not the enemy.”
Seeing their wariness, Xu Xinghe didn't explain further. Instead, he reached up and pulled out the military pistol from his waist, pointing it downwards and displaying it to everyone.
It was just a simple action, but it made the soldiers in the cages' eyes light up instantly!
They were all seasoned gun handlers and immediately recognized it as a standard-issue pistol unique to the military!
This model is definitely not something that civilians or ordinary spies could possess.
The previous wariness vanished instantly, replaced by an undisguised excitement.
"Comrade! You're one of us!" The older soldier who had spoken earlier was the first to react. "Did you come alone? Are there any rescue teams following you?"
"Comrades, we've been waiting for you!"
"We've been stuck here for almost half a month!"
"How's the situation outside?"
Xu Xinghe put away his pistol, pressed his hand down to signal everyone to be quiet, "I'm the only one who came in right now, but don't worry, I'll contact the military immediately after I leave, and the rescue team will arrive and get everyone out."
She asked again, "The person I'm looking for is a strong, adult male who was recently brought in. Do you know where he is?"
"At the very back!" A young soldier immediately pointed to the end of the passage. "In that solitary cell, don't worry, he's in good condition and doesn't look like he's been tortured."
Xu Xinghe was overjoyed and, without saying another word, quickly ran towards the end of the passage.
Sure enough, there was a separate cell at the very back, which was more spacious than the other cells, and it held only one person.
It was Jiang Linchuan!
He sat leaning against the rock wall, his clothes were somewhat disheveled but not torn, his face was clean without a single scratch, and his mental state was exceptionally good, with clear eyes, not at all like a trapped prisoner.
Seeing him like this, Xu Xinghe finally felt completely relieved after being anxious all the way.
She immediately ripped off the black mask from her face and strode to the cell door. "Lin Chuan!"
Jiang Linchuan looked up at the sound and saw that it was Xu Xinghe. He was surprised, but soon a smile appeared on his face. "Why are you here? I didn't expect you to actually find me. You're amazing, even more amazing than I imagined."
He was truly proud of Xu Xinghe.
A young girl dared to break into this heavily guarded spy outpost all by herself, and managed to find her way here without being discovered by anyone.
Whether it was in Black Wind Ridge or this time venturing deep into the tiger's den, she has repeatedly broken her own perceptions, becoming more and more outstanding and increasingly admirable.
Xu Xinghe had no interest in accepting his praise. Seeing him still able to smile, she was both angry and anxious. "You can still smile at a time like this! What happened? How did you end up locked up here? I thought you..."
She had always thought that Jiang Linchuan was likely to be seriously injured like last time, but she didn't expect him to be in such good spirits. How was he captured?
Unless, of course, he willingly allowed himself to be kidnapped!
Jiang Linchuan stood up, walked to the cell door, and looked at her through the bars. "Don't worry, I'm fine. I came in on purpose."
"You came in on purpose again! Do you know how worried I was? Do you know how dangerous this place is?!"
This isn't a wooden house in Black Wind Ridge, it's a whole village!
It's a real stronghold!
“It’s precisely because of the danger that I had to come in.” Jiang Linchuan’s eyes turned serious. “Before coming in, I had already reported to the organization and made all the necessary arrangements. Now we just need to wait. Xinghe, go back and leave Shiwa Village. Don’t stay nearby; it’s too dangerous.”
