Yi An acted as if she hadn't heard, her steps not faltering at all.
That's just his personality; he's too lazy to argue with people and things he doesn't like, so he just avoids them.
The two quickly crossed the path and soon arrived at the gate of Uncle Li's courtyard.
Yi An stopped and released her grip on Xu Xinghe's sleeve. "Get some rest tonight. If you need anything, come find me."
For the sake of that 500 yuan, he'll help out a bit more.
After all... he only went to Black Wind Ridge and didn't encounter any danger.
I feel a little guilty taking this 500 yuan.
Xu Xinghe nodded, thanked him, and then turned to knock on Uncle Li's courtyard gate.
Yi An watched her figure disappear behind the courtyard gate before turning to leave.
Ah Cui was still standing not far behind him, her face full of resentment and bitterness, staring intently at Uncle Li's gate, her expression extremely ugly.
Yi An didn't look at her or say anything more. She turned around and strode towards her home.
He knew that Ah Cui was wronged, but he did not regret what he did.
One must have a bottom line; one cannot tolerate someone's meanness and malice just because they are an acquaintance.
A Cui looked at Yi An's retreating figure, then at the tightly closed Li Bo's house. Her anger and grievances were intertwined, almost bursting out of her chest.
She gritted her teeth, determined to find out Su Xiao's background and make Yi An see her true colors!
She would never allow an outsider, an outsider who was so ugly, to steal away the Yi An Ge she loved!
As Xu Xinghe entered the courtyard, Uncle Li hurriedly asked, "Xiao'er, you're finally back! Did you encounter any trouble on the way? It's not safe on the mountain at night, did you encounter any wild animals or anything?"
"Thank you for your concern, Uncle Li. Everything went smoothly." Xu Xinghe nodded with a smile. "I didn't encounter any accidents in the mountains. Yi'an brought me back. I'm very safe."
Li Bosong breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good, that's good. It's getting late, you must be tired from traveling all this way, go back to your room and rest, we can talk about it tomorrow."
"Okay." Xu Xinghe responded, then added, "Uncle Li, I plan to go to town tomorrow to take care of some things."
"Going to town?" Uncle Li paused for a moment, then nodded. "Sure, you can go wherever you want, just tell me. Town isn't far from here, just follow the road along the river, it'll be there in a little over an hour."
Xu Xinghe thanked Uncle Li and turned to walk into her room.
She locked the door behind her back, and after confirming that no one was around, she entered the space with a thought.
The space remained familiar, with bamboo houses, medicinal fields, and clear spiritual springs.
Xu Xinghe walked to the spring, washed off the dust, and took a hot bath. The fatigue and tension of the past few days dissipated a lot.
She changed into clean clothes, sat at the table in the bamboo house, took out the small box wrapped in oil paper from her spatial storage, carefully opened it, and placed the brown soil in her palm.
She examined the soil repeatedly, gently stroking it with her fingers, feeling its moisture and texture.
It looks like ordinary forest soil, with no special smell or strange patterns, but Jiang Linchuan risked his life to bring it out, so it couldn't have been meaningless.
Xu Xinghe frowned, still unable to figure it out.
"Never mind, let's take it to the town first. Maybe the military there can help." She wrapped the soil up again and put it into her spatial storage. Then she lay down on the bed in the bamboo house and closed her eyes to rest.
She was exhausted from traveling all night and soon fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, just as dawn broke, Xu Xinghe got up.
She quickly tidied herself up, changed into clothes that were easy to move in, and took some spare change and dry food with her. Then she said goodbye to Uncle Li and headed towards the river, intending to make her way to the town.
But as soon as they reached the path along the riverbank, a group of people blocked their way.
The leader was Ah Cui, followed by four or five girls from the village, all with their arms crossed and expressions of disgust and disdain on their faces. They were clearly waiting for her there on purpose.
"Oh, isn't this the ugly girl who seduced Yi An? Where are you headed?" A round-faced girl spoke first, her tone sharp and sarcastic.
"Where else could she go? She must be trying to cling to Brother Yi'an and doesn't want to leave!" another long-haired girl chimed in, her eyes sweeping contemptuously over the birthmark on Xu Xinghe's face. "So ugly, yet she has the nerve to stay in the village. She's shameless!"
"I think Yi'an has definitely been deceived by her! Otherwise, with Yi'an's taste, how could he possibly be interested in someone like her?"
A group of people were talking all at once.
Ah Cui stood in the middle, not saying a word, but with a smug look on her face. Clearly, she had called all these girls, and these were exactly the words she wanted to say.
She wanted to let this outsider know that Lijia'ao was not a place where she could run wild, and that Yi'an was not someone she could touch.
Xu Xinghe frowned deeply, and her face darkened.
She didn't want to get entangled with these girls and said coldly, "Yi An and I are just ordinary friends. There's nothing messy about us. Don't misunderstand."
"Misunderstanding?" Ah Cui finally spoke, her tone laced with sarcasm. "Going out together in the middle of the night, and you still say you're just ordinary friends? Who would believe that!"
"Exactly! Stop pretending!"
Xu Xinghe was too lazy to explain anymore and turned to walk around her.
She's going to town to deliver something today and doesn't have time to waste here.
Unexpectedly, the girls immediately surrounded her and blocked her way again, each of them acting as if she couldn't leave.
Ah Cui stepped forward, her eyes icy as she looked at Xu Xinghe. "I advise you to leave Lijia'ao immediately and go back to your own home. You're not welcome here, and don't bother Yi An anymore, or we won't be polite to you!"
“It is my freedom to stay in Lijia’ao.” Xu Xinghe’s tone also turned cold. “When I leave and how I leave is none of anyone else’s business.”
"Outsiders?" A-Cui sneered. "You, an outsider, dare to call us outsiders?"
As she spoke, she secretly winked at a tall, robust girl next to her.
The girl immediately understood, a fierce look appearing on her face. Without saying a word, she raised her hand and slapped Xu Xinghe across the face!
She was known for her fighting in the village and was very strong. A-Cui specifically called her along to teach Xu Xinghe a lesson, to make her realize her place and get out of Lijia'ao as soon as possible.
Xu Xinghe's eyes sharpened, and she instinctively dodged backward, easily avoiding the slap.
She never expected these girls to be so unreasonable and even resort to violence.
It seems that simply being tolerant and yielding will only embolden them to take advantage of us!
