Chapter 130 Unsuccessful Search (1/2)

Upon arriving at the second house, Ruan Yunxi knocked on the door and went straight to the point, asking the person they were looking for: "When you gave birth in the hospital back then, did you know who switched the baby girl with yours?"

Upon hearing this, the other person looked surprised: "I don't know, who is it?"

Ruan Yunxi clearly wasn't the type to switch babies, and made a request: "Do you have a photo of your child?"

"I took some when I was little, but I haven't taken many photos since I grew up." As she was speaking, the woman looked behind them and said, "Look, my daughter is back. Hui, you're off work? How about we have mixed noodles and stir-fried shredded potatoes for lunch?"

The young woman named Ahui nodded, and seeing Ruan Yunxi and the others, asked, "Who are you looking for?"

Looking at the face in front of them, Ruan Yunxi and the others knew without asking that he wasn't Gu's parents' child.

It's too dark.

They couldn't have had such a dark-skinned daughter.

The third family happened to have both mother and daughter at home. They met briefly, and upon seeing the daughter, they knew she was their biological daughter.

The fourth place they met directly with the woman, but she wasn't the person they were looking for.

The fifth and fourth houses were in a large courtyard, and the girl didn't look like Gu's parents, so they were sure she wasn't their daughter.

It's already noon.

After leaving the courtyard, Mr. Gu led them out for a meal.

Mr. Gu told Ruan Yunxi to order whatever she liked. Ruan Yunxi didn't stand on ceremony and ordered the stir-fried pork tenderloin, fermented bean curd, tripe, and stir-fried mixed vegetables that she wanted. The three of them were satisfied with the meal.

Looking at the remaining list, Gu's mother knew she wouldn't be able to finish today.

If I keep running like this, I'm afraid I won't finish tomorrow.

Seeing the worried expression on Gu's mother's face, Ruan Yunxi suggested, "How about we split up? Dad and Grandma can go outside the city to search, and I'll search inside the city. What do you think?"

Gu's mother thought this was a good idea!

Mr. Gu was worried: "You're not familiar with Beijing. I'll go outside the city by myself, while you and your mother-in-law go inside!"

Ruan Yunxi wanted to refuse, as it would delay her from stockpiling goods.

Mother Gu also thought it was a good idea. She glanced at the beautiful Ruan Yunxi and wondered how she would explain it to her youngest son if something happened to such a pretty daughter-in-law.

Seeing that the couple agreed, Ruan Yunxi knew that her opposition alone would be useless, so she could only nod.

Soon, the dishes she ordered arrived. Ruan Yunxi took a few bites and found that the stir-fried mixed vegetables with flatbread tasted good, and the tripe was also good.

The fermented bean curd had a slightly gamey taste; it was stir-fried with mutton fat, which she didn't particularly like.

The pork tenderloin was alright.

After Ruan Yunxi and the others had eaten and drunk their fill, Gu's father drove to the outskirts of the city. Ruan Yunxi and Gu's mother took the copied roster, took a bus, looked up the route, and went to find the people they were looking for.

After an entire afternoon, they had gained nothing.

None of the people in the city are the daughters that Mother Gu is looking for.

Either the photo doesn't match, or you see the person in person and find they don't look like them.

They gained nothing and could only look after their father.

Before dark, they took the bus back to their family compound. The kitchen was empty and the stove was cold. Gu's mother didn't want to cook, so Ruan Yunxi said, "I saw a hot pot restaurant. Why don't we go eat hot pot there?"

Seeing that she wanted to eat, Gu's mother nodded and took Ruan Yunxi to eat hot pot.

After they finished eating, they packed another portion to take home, which included a lot of mutton and vegetables.

Not long after they returned, Mr. Gu also came back and returned the car.

Mr. Gu brought some bad news: "These families are all fine; the children are their own."
