Ruan Yunxi said, "It depends on you. If you don't want to live with a man, you can choose to get a divorce and live on your own, but you have to be able to support yourself."
Miao Huahua thought that she could farm, grow vegetables, go beachcombing, pick mushrooms, dig wild vegetables, pick hazelnuts, and chop firewood. She didn't eat or drink much, so she could support herself completely.
She didn't want to live in the mentally challenged man's house.
But what will happen to her parents, younger brother, and younger sister after she gets divorced?
If I can't leave, the only solution is death.
Now that she's been rescued, Miao Huahua overheard her sisters-in-law talking about how Commander Gu is incredibly capable. He's not afraid of being affected, and he's spoiled his wife rotten. She doesn't work, doesn't do chores, doesn't do laundry or cook, and just eats and sleeps all day.

Gu Weizhou escorted the person to the dean's door and knocked on the door.
The old woman came out cursing, "So you finally came back! I knew you couldn't run away. How dare you disrespect an elder? You're dead!"
As soon as the door opened, the old woman was dumbfounded to see Gu Weizhou, Political Commissar Li, the Women's Director (who was also Political Commissar Li's wife), and Miao Huahua, whose face was obscured by a military overcoat. She exclaimed, "What... what happened?"
"I heard you drove your daughter-in-law to jump into the sea, is that true?" Political Commissar Li asked bluntly.
The old woman was dumbfounded: "I didn't. She was just being unreasonable. She's really fierce. She pushed me and I almost fell to my death."
Gu Weizhou remained silent and simply observed.
Political Commissar Li was not easily fooled: "My wife examined your daughter-in-law, and she is covered in injuries, both new and old, all because you beat her. If you continue to mistreat your daughter-in-law, don't blame us for being angry. She is a human being, not an animal, to be beaten and scolded by you."
The old woman was terrified. She never expected her usually quiet daughter-in-law to be so capable, even going so far as to complain to the women's director.
Find a leader to pressure her.
The old woman was furious, but she couldn't lash out in front of Political Commissar Li and her daughter-in-law, so she could only humbly admit her mistake: "I know, I admit my mistake, it was just a slip of the tongue."
"Hmph!" Commissar Li's wife said, "I hope you really change your ways. Your daughter-in-law is too thin. You are not allowed to mistreat her. I will come to check on her every week. If I find that your daughter-in-law still has injuries and has been driven to the point of jumping into the sea, and you can't live with her anymore, I will have to take her away."
"Take her away?" The old woman was dumbfounded: "Take her where? She's my daughter-in-law's wife."
"You know she's your son's wife, why don't you treat her well? Look how you've driven this young comrade to this state," Political Commissar Li's wife cursed, pulling Miao Huahua's hand and revealing the scars on it.
The women who had come to watch the spectacle gathered around, gasping in disbelief.
"That was a brutal beating!"
"They're all wounded!"
"She's so thin!"
"I heard that he was beaten so badly that he jumped into the river, but was rescued by Commander Gu who happened to be passing by. The military overcoat he was wearing was Commander Gu's."
Ruan Yunxi heard the commotion and came over.
She squeezed next to Gu Weizhou: "I heard you saved someone, that's great, you're a hero!"
Gu Weizhou looked at his wife praising him and couldn't help but smile, "We can't just stand by and watch someone die."
Ruan Yunxi gave a thumbs up: "Well done!"
Gu Weizhou was overjoyed.
She asked Miao Huahua, who had jumped into the sea and been rescued, "Why did you have to do something like this?"
Seeing Ruan Yunxi was like seeing a savior. Unable to contain her grievances, Miao Huahua, who hadn't said much until now, said aggrievedly, "My mother-in-law hit me and took my clothes, saying she was going to send them back to her eldest daughter. She won't let me wear them."
Ruan Yunxi narrowed her eyes: "Is that so?"
The old woman explained, "I was just joking."
