The moment Miao Huahua learned that Ruan Yunxi and the others had returned, she immediately went to Ruan Yunxi's house to find her: "Sister Yunxi!"
Ruan Yunxi's small face peeked out from behind the glass window as she looked at Miao Huahua calling her from the doorway. She opened the window and greeted her, "Happy New Year!"
"Happy New Year!" he said, opening the courtyard gate to find Ruan Yunxi at her prompting. "Are you home alone?"
"Okay!" Gu Weizhou has returned to the team, and she is home alone now.
Ruan Yunxi opened the window to let in some fresh air, but then felt it was too cold and closed it again.
She looked at Miao Huahua who was walking towards her and asked, "Did your mom and the others go back?"
Miao Huahua shook her head: "They didn't go back. They don't plan to go back. My mother-in-law is very angry and doesn't want to talk to them anymore. I tried to persuade them to go back, but my mother and brother refused. They said they wouldn't leave unless they arranged a job for my brother."
Ruan Yunxi didn't know how to complain.
She's pitiful to have such family members.
Ruan Yunxi took out butterfly pastries and gave them to Miao Huahua.
Miao Huahua couldn't take her eyes off the food.
"Eat up!" A butterfly pastry was handed to Miao Huahua, who swallowed hard and, at her prompting, almost wolfed it down.
The butterfly cookies were crisp and crumbly, and she ate them very carefully, catching the crumbs with her hands, not wanting to waste a single one: "They're so delicious! They're the best pastries I've ever eaten in my life."
After she finished the butterfly pastry, she was given a piece of crab roe rice crust, a yogurt cake, and a Napoleon. Miao Huahua couldn't help but shed tears: "Sister Yunxi, you are so good to me. You give me so much good food, but I can't repay you in any way."
"I don't need your gratitude." Ruan Yunxi was just taking pity on her.
If Miao Huahua were Gu Weizhou's poor younger sister, living in the Gu family, she wouldn't be in such a pitiful situation.
"Sister Yunxi, you're so kind!" Miao Huahua wiped away her tears.
Miao Huahua didn't stay long. She had just finished eating her delicious food when she heard her mother calling her from the family compound.
"I'm going back now, otherwise my mom will find me here." Miao Huahua knew her mother's character; she wouldn't leave without getting something in return.
Ruan Yunxi nodded and watched her leave. After that, she took Pineapple out of her space and cut some salmon for it. After eating the fish, Pineapple was full and began to lick its fur.
After licking for a short while, it looked for a place to defecate inside the house.
Ruan Yunxi immediately took out her cat litter box, which contained scraps of wood that her family had stockpiled before, as their cats were well-cared for.
If she weren't afraid it would run away and be discovered, Ruan Yunxi would have liked to let Pineapple out so it would learn to poop and pee outside.
After Pineapple finished defecating, Ruan Yunxi put it back into her space. To avoid Gu Weizhou discovering that she kept a cat, she pinched her nose and shoveled Pineapple's excrement out before he returned and buried it behind the small house so that no one else would find out.
After digging the hole and burying the burial site, Ruan Yunxi was about to go back.
But they overheard Miao Huahua's mother and her younger brother talking in a secluded spot.
"Mom, will they arrange a job for me? Are you kidding me?"
“If we don’t arrange anything for you this time, we’ll take your sister away and find her a new husband. I’ve got my eye on a military officer who’s a good match. His wife died and he left behind two children. Your sister can’t have any more children, so she can raise them for him.” Mother Miao schemed.
Ruan Yunxi narrowed her eyes. What did she take Miao Huahua for?
