Chapter 73 The Treasure is Gone (1/2)

Jiang's mother tossed and turned all night, finally falling asleep just before dawn.

Finally, I was woken up by Dean Hu's knocking on the door and immediately got up.

As soon as the siblings met, Dean Hu asked, "What's your decision?"

Seeing her mother grit her teeth, she said, "I've made up my mind. Even if it's three hundred gold bars, I'll still get them out of here. Wait for me a moment."

With that, he went to dig for gold bars.

After digging for a while, I dug out the box that had contained the small yellow croakers. When I opened it, it was empty.

Jiang's mother's pupils contracted slightly, thinking she had misread it.

I rubbed my eyes and looked again.

It's still empty.

Jiang's mother: "???"

Suspecting she was having a nightmare, Jiang's mother pinched herself—it hurt!

It hurt so much that tears came to my eyes.

But the box was still empty.

There wasn't a single small yellow croaker left.

Mrs. Jiang was certain that their family's small yellow croaker had been stolen.

Realizing this, Jiang's mother broke down in tears: "My gold bars, my gold coins, my life-saving money! Who stole them? Who is so despicable? Who!!!"

Dean Hu heard the wailing and came over to see what was happening. He found Jiang's mother sitting on the ground, crying uncontrollably and looking desperate and helpless. "Sister, what happened?"

"Gold bars, all the gold bars are gone!" As if seeing a savior, Jiang's mother pointed to the empty box, desperate and devastated, hoping he could help find the lost gold bars.

Dean Hu: "..."

Unfortunately, even he couldn't find it.

Not only were the gold bars on top empty, but the two boxes buried underneath were also empty.

Overnight, all of her family's treasures vanished.

Jiang's mother was so angry that she fainted, but was woken up by Dean Hu pinching her philtrum: "Sister, did you change places last night because you were afraid I would find out? Why don't you think about it again?"

"No, it's right here, I didn't move!" Mrs. Jiang said firmly.

Dean Hu frowned: "The thing is hidden here. Besides you, who else knows about it?"

"Your brother-in-law."

Where is the bright moon?

Jiang's mother said, "Your brother-in-law said that the child is not thoughtful and has a loose tongue, so he didn't tell her."

In other words, Jiang Mingyue was unaware that large and small yellow croakers were buried there.

When Dean Hu met his sister's suspicious gaze, he immediately stated, "It wasn't me. I only found out last night."

Mrs. Jiang frowned: "I was fine before I went to bed last night, how could I have disappeared overnight?"

"Who's targeting our family?" Mrs. Jiang asked, her face grim.

Dean Hu asked, "Was anyone else present when your brother-in-law told you that?"

Mother Jiang suddenly realized: "Yes, people from the land division committee were there. Could it be them?"

Dean Hu narrowed his eyes: "Since it wasn't you, nor me, and it's impossible for it to be your brother-in-law who was arrested, then it must be those people. They have a nose even sharper than a dog's; they came right after smelling the scent. It's likely they stole the gold bars while you were asleep last night."

"No... that can't be. I didn't sleep all night. I only managed to doze off for a little while around four or five in the morning."
