After training ended, Gu Weizhou was the first to run home.
Commander Sheng wanted him to wait a moment, but the other person was running so fast that he was already leaving afterimages.
Other team leaders chuckled and remarked, "We've never seen him this enthusiastic before."
"Getting married really changes things; she's more family-oriented now!"
"He's just missing his wife!" a regimental commander teased.
One of the group leaders even said, "If you married such a beautiful wife, wouldn't you want that too?"
Upon hearing this, Commander Sheng said sternly, "Don't say things like that again. It's disrespectful to them. They've just gotten married, so it's understandable. Everyone goes through this. Besides, it's not good to make fun of a female comrade's appearance."
The officer who had been reprimanded nodded apologetically: "It was my fault for being so talkative. I won't say anything carelessly again."
The others also secretly warned themselves not to speak carelessly.
The thought of Gu Weizhou's fists terrified them.
Gu Weizhou was unaware of the incident. He rushed home to see if Ruan Yunxi had returned.
Before I even got home, I ran into the other women.
As soon as his sisters-in-law saw him, they immediately started complaining: "Oh, Commander Gu, you're finally back! Hurry home, your wife bought so many bags and packages, it must have cost a lot of money!"
"That's right, with all those allowances you have, at least someone is helping you spend them."
"You don't have kids, so you don't know how quickly money disappears. You still need to save some money; you can't spend it all every month!"
"Your wife comes from a capitalist family, so she knows how to spend money. Look at the things she buys, they're not cheap. She's obviously never suffered, she doesn't know how hard it is to earn money."
Listening to their cacophony of criticisms directed at Ruan Yunxi, the good mood he had for his wife's return was immediately ruined by them.
Gu Weizhou's expression was unpleasant: "My wife can spend money however she wants. Even if she spends it all every month, that's my business."
"If I don't give the allowance I earn to my wife, who else should I give it to? You, or all of you?"
"Don't talk about my wife anymore. She can do whatever she wants. She can even sell me if she wants to spend the money!" Gu Weizhou's protective words elicited a variety of reactions from his sisters-in-law who were trying to sow discord.
I thought Gu Weizhou would be angry, but who knew he would be happy about it.
They're just being nosy and meddling in other people's business.
Feeling embarrassed and finding their efforts thankless, the women made an excuse and went home one after another. When they turned their backs to Gu Weizhou, they curled their lips in disdain and contempt.
I thought to myself, "You'll realize your mistake when you get sold out."
I don't know how Ruan Yunxi got so lucky. Born into a capitalist family, she grew up in luxury, living in a mansion and being taken care of. She had such a wonderful life.
Now that they're down on their luck, they still have their childhood betrothal to protect them.
They wanted to see how long Gu Weizhou could spoil them so relentlessly.
In the future, when they are struggling to make ends meet, they will not lend them money or rice, so that they will know the consequences of not saving money and spending it recklessly.
If they knew that Ruan Yunxi's space contained large and small yellow croakers, plenty of money, lots of food, and all sorts of other necessities—more than they could ever use—they would realize how ridiculous their current thoughts were.
Ruan Yunxi would never ask them for money or rice to make a living.
When Gu Weizhou returned home, he saw Ruan Yunxi talking to Sister Sheng and her daughter in the yard, while Little Potato ate candy and watched them talk.
Upon seeing Gu Weizhou, Ruan Yunxi raised an eyebrow and smiled: "Our Commander Gu is back. Why are you standing there like an idiot? Don't you recognize me after just one day?"
Infected by Ruan Yunxi's emotions, Gu Weizhou's lips curled up, and his usually cold eyes softened with tenderness.
Sister-in-law Sheng tactfully took the two children and left. She had originally come to invite Ruan Yunxi to their house for dinner, so that Ruan Yunxi wouldn't be left with a cold meal when she returned. But Ruan Yunxi said she had packed some food to take back with her.
I also brought them some cherry meat so they could have an extra dish for dinner.
Sister-in-law Sheng had no right to take it for free.
