Jiang Mingyue was in the wrong.
Jiang's mother was exasperated: "Anyone with eyes can see that he hates you, how could you be so stupid?"
Jiang Mingyue retorted, "If it weren't for Ruan Yunxi suddenly appearing, he would be my man right now."
Jiang's mother scoffed, "Wake up, that man would never be interested in you."
"You really want your uncle to deal with that woman?"
Jiang Mingyue remained silent.
Seeing her in such a wretched state, Jiang's mother understood perfectly. She grabbed Jiang Mingyue's hand and said, "Now, right now, let's go find your uncle's old friend and have him send our family away."
Jiang Mingyue was dumbfounded: "Leave? Where to?"
"You'll know when you get there." Jiang's mother hurriedly took her daughter to see an old friend, knowing that this was their family's last chance.
If they stayed in Lian City, they probably wouldn't have a good life.
The look in Gu Weizhou's eyes just now frightened Jiang's mother.
She only had one daughter, who was a bit foolish, but she still couldn't bear to see her get into trouble.
Since her brother has arranged a way out for them, wouldn't it be a waste of his good intentions if Jiang's mother didn't use it?
When Jiang's mother was planning to run away with her whole family, Gu Weizhou had already met with Director Zheng. After learning his purpose, he took him to see Dean Hu.
Having only been detained for a day, Dean Hu was barely alive, only clinging to life for questioning.
Upon meeting Gu Weizhou, Dean Hu knew his purpose: "You ungrateful lad, my niece is so well-off, and you actually refused my kindness."
"In my opinion, she is utterly worthless and cannot be compared to my wife at all," Gu Weizhou stated.
Dean Hu sneered, "Do you know what your highly regarded lover is doing in Shanghai?"
"Do you know Lu Minghua?" Dean Hu deliberately provoked Gu Weizhou.
Gu Weizhou remained unmoved: "What else do you know? Tell me now, so you won't have a chance to say it later."
Seeing that he wasn't jealous, Dean Hu suddenly felt bored: "I know what you want to know. Don't worry, you can't catch all the enemy agents. The kill order for your lover will not be lifted as long as there are still people who haven't been caught. Your lover will be assassinated sooner or later."
"Who else?" Gu Weizhou angrily pinched Dean Hu's chin, cracking it as if he wanted to crush it.
Despite the pain, Dean Hu's fearless gaze was defiant: "Go ahead and kill me if you dare. I know I'm unforgivable. If a capitalist's daughter could die with me, that wouldn't be so bad."
"If you don't want your niece to die, you can try." Gu Weizhou said dangerously.
"I don't have any niece. Who are you talking about?" Dean Hu asked, feigning ignorance.
Gu Weizhou coldly uttered a name: "Jiang Mingyue".
"We've severed ties, didn't you know?" Dean Hu said confidently.
Just then, a comrade walked over and said to Director Zheng and Gu Weizhou, "The comrade who was following Jiang Mingyue and Hu Ailan reported that they went to No. 38 Xingzhong Street and met someone..."
Upon hearing this, Dean Hu's eyelashes trembled.
Gu Weizhou noticed this subtle movement and said, "I'll be with you. That's probably a hideout for enemy agents."
Dean Hu was shocked that the second hideout had been discovered. He panicked and tried to stall Gu Weizhou and Director Zheng: "I'll confess, I'll confess everything! You want to know who my supplier is, right? My supplier is..."
Gu Weizhou wasn't buying it at all; he knew he was just stalling for time.
Director Zheng saw through his estimation and left after listening to only half of what he said.
Seeing that they weren't taking the bait, Dean Hu became anxious: "Come back! Come back! I've told you who my superior is, don't you want to know? Come back!!!"
The comrade guarding Dean Hu sneered: "If you want to confess, then confess now. Don't waste everyone's time. You've been more than kind to your sister and niece. Why don't you think about the blood that flows in your veins and what you eat? How could you do something like treason and collusion with the enemy?"
Dean Hu smiled with despair and regret. Looking back, he was once a patriotic young man, but unfortunately, one wrong step led to another.
