Chapter 131 Becoming Her Sucker (1/2)

“Okay, let’s go eat roast duck. Your aunt said roast duck, so let’s eat roast duck! Let’s go!” Sister-in-law Gu nodded with a smile, took the two children’s hands, and called to Ruan Yunxi: “There’s a roast duck place up ahead that tastes pretty good.”

"Even now that it's a joint public-private enterprise, the taste is still just as delicious. Let's go try it!" Sister-in-law Gu said.

Ruan Yunxi nodded, thinking that this sister-in-law was quite generous, offering to eat roast duck as she said she would.

When we arrived at the roast duck restaurant, there weren't many people there.

Ruan Yunxi and her two children occupied a table, a window seat no less. People came and went, and seeing that they were willing to spend money on roast duck, they all showed envious expressions.

When ordering food, Sister-in-law Gu was not stingy at all. She ordered whatever she wanted to eat. Roast duck was a must-order, as were the "three-no-stick" dishes and other dishes that she wanted to eat but couldn't bear to part with.

After ordering, he asked Ruan Yunxi, "Is there anything else you'd like to order?"

Ruan Yunxi looked at the food she wanted and shook her head: "This is enough."

Sister-in-law Gu asked the waiter to place the order and waited for the food to be served.

Ruan Yunxi poured herself some tea and heard Sister-in-law Gu ask, "Since Lao Si is now the regimental commander, his allowance should be much higher. I heard that the regimental commander's salary is at least over a hundred, is that true?"

"More or less." Ruan Yunxi nodded.

Sister-in-law Gu said enviously, "It's better to join the army. Your brother and I both work hard, and we only earn enough for the fourth son. We also have to support two children, so it's not enough to make ends meet."

Ruan Yunxi laughed and said, "In our family, one person earns money and two people talk, so it's never enough."

"That's still better than us in terms of money!" Sister-in-law Gu felt she had hinted enough.

She should definitely treat us to this meal!

Ruan Yunxi realized that her sister-in-law was trying to plead poverty on her behalf!

Ruan Yunxi smiled but didn't say anything. This meal was probably going to be very expensive!

Soon after, the dishes they ordered arrived.

Besides roast duck and its side dishes, there were also roasted lamb trotters, shredded pork with sweet bean sauce, Kung Pao chicken, stir-fried fish slices, and Sanbuzhan (a type of Sichuan hot pot), a whole table full of food that the four of them probably couldn't finish.

Sister-in-law Gu laughed and said, "It's okay if we can't finish it. We can pack it up and take it home. We can't waste food. Try the roast duck. It tastes best when it's fresh out of the oven!"

Ruan Yunxi, who had already stocked up on about ten freshly roasted ducks, smiled and nodded. She ate a piece of roasted duck and found it to be quite delicious. She thought she would buy a few from this shop if she had the chance, as it was crispier and sweeter than those from other shops, which suited her sweet tooth.

There's also stir-fried fish slices, which are also sweet.

Kung Pao Chicken tastes delicious, with the chicken being crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

The shredded pork was a bit sour, so Ruan Yunxi took a bite and then started eating the "three-no-stick" dish.

A whole roasted duck is definitely too much to finish.

The two children wolfed down a duck leg each, ate a few slices of roast duck, and some other dishes, until they were full.

Since there was no food left to eat, Sister-in-law Gu took out a lunchbox.

Ruan Yunxi then realized that she had two lunch boxes in her cloth bag.

It still wasn't enough to hold everything, so I borrowed two more from the store. I'll get my deposit back when they're returned next time.

After she finished packing, Ruan Yunxi didn't move.

Sister-in-law Gu was afraid that she would have to pay the bill, so she said she needed to go to the restroom and asked the waiter to settle the bill while she was there.

Only Ruan Yunxi remained seated; Sister-in-law Gu had taken the two children away as well.

This is clearly making Ruan Yunxi pay the bill.

Ruan Yunxi smiled and asked about the cost of the meal.

"You spent a total of 13.45 yuan."

Ruan Yunxi raised an eyebrow slightly: "Oh!"

Although she was wealthy, a meal costing 13 yuan was quite a lot in this day and age.

Many people only earn twenty or thirty yuan a month.

They ate half a month's salary in one meal.
