Chapter 243 Reunion of Siblings
The cold, narrow metal pipes were filled with a strange smell of rust.
Lu Jingyan was at the very front of the line, silently inching forward using only the strength of his elbows and knees.
Behind him were six dark figures moving in perfect sync with him. Apart from the faint sound of combat suits rubbing against metal and their own suppressed breathing, there was nothing else.
A fork in the road appeared ahead. Lu Jingyan stopped, extended three fingers, then quickly retracted two, leaving only one pointing to the left. This was the map Benjamin had drawn from his memory, leading directly above the main laboratory.
The procession continued forward.
After crawling for about fifty meters, Lu Jingyan stopped again. He listened carefully and heard muffled conversations below, mixed with the low hum of instruments.
He didn't rush to act, but instead gestured backward. Qin Zheng behind him immediately understood, and the entire team froze instantly, as if they were one.
Lu Jingyan took a small periscope from his tactical vest and carefully peered down through the gap in the ventilation grille.
The view opened up to reveal a vast, empty, and brightly lit sterile laboratory below. Various sophisticated instruments, whose names I didn't know, gleamed with a cold, eerie light, arranged in an orderly fashion, like a steel jungle.
In the very center of the jungle, there was a metal laboratory bed.
A girl is strapped to the bed.
She wore a large blue and white striped hospital gown, her figure frighteningly thin, with cold metal straps fastened to her wrists and ankles. Her face was deathly pale, and her eyes were tightly closed.
Even though ten years had passed, and even though she had transformed from a little girl with pigtails into the tormented and unrecognizable young woman before him, Lu Jingyan recognized her at a glance.
That was his younger sister, Lu Jingyue.
The air in his chest seemed to be sucked out instantly, and an emotion mixed with rage and heartache, like molten iron, rushed straight into his heart. He forced himself to look away and observe the others in the laboratory.
An elderly white man with thinning hair was waving his arms excitedly, arguing with another man in a white coat with a cold expression. Lu Jingyan recognized that man from the files; he was Anderson, Huo Qishan's deputy, codenamed "Butler."
"No! Absolutely not!" German expert Schmidt's voice was sharp and anxious.
"Subject Seven's physiological indicators are all in an extremely unstable state, and her brainwave activity is abnormally intense! If we transfer her now, she may collapse at any moment!"
Anderson glanced coldly at the wildly fluctuating curves on the instrument screen, his tone completely flat: "This is a direct order from headquarters. Mr. Huo can't be delayed any longer; we must send her away immediately."
“This is murder!” Schmidt almost screamed. “She is the most perfect vessel yet! You’re ruining her! You’re ruining the entire ‘Lunar Project’!”
“My job is to follow orders, not to listen to your complaints,” Anderson interrupted impatiently, picking up a syringe filled with a clear liquid from a nearby cart.
"Give her a large dose of B-7 sedative to ensure she remains dormant during transport."
As he spoke, he walked toward the experimental bed.
The gleaming needle rapidly magnified in Lu Jingyan's pupils.
Now!
Lu Jingyan abruptly retracted the periscope without hesitation, and made a sharp downward chopping gesture in the air with his right hand.
action!
The team members behind him were like beasts that had been released. One of them grabbed the grille with both hands, used his waist and abdomen to kick it down hard!
"Clang!"
The heavy metal grille was kicked open and slammed onto the smooth floor below with a piercing thud.
To Schmidt and Anderson's horrified gaze, seven dark figures descended from the sky.
Before they could even see who it was, a series of soft but deadly "poof" sounds rang out in the laboratory.
The two guards standing at the door almost simultaneously had a bloody flower bloom between their eyebrows, and before they could even utter a sound, they fell straight down.
Another guard, who was about to press the alarm, froze, looked down in disbelief at the hole in his chest, and slumped to the ground.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye.
Anderson reacted extremely quickly. The moment the grille hit the ground, he abandoned the injection he was giving Lu Jingyue. He rolled awkwardly on the spot and hid behind a huge centrifuge, while simultaneously drawing his sidearm from his waist.
"Enemy attack!!" he roared with all his might.
Schmidt let out a piercing scream, clutched his head, and scrambled under a lab bench, trembling like a leaf.
"Bang! Bang bang!"
Anderson began to return fire from cover, the gunshots ringing out loudly in the enclosed laboratory.
More guards rushed in from the outside passage after hearing the commotion.
"Qin Zheng! Guard the entrance! Protect the people!" Lu Jingyan's voice was deep and cold, devoid of any emotion.
"yes!"
Qin Zheng and his four teammates immediately formed a crossfire network, pinning down the guards who rushed in at the doorway. The crisp gunshots and the sounds of bullets hitting the walls and equipment mingled together, sparks flying everywhere.
Lu Jingyan, from beginning to end, had only one goal.
His figure darted and weaved among various sophisticated instruments, each movement precise and deadly, like a apex predator hunting in the jungle, constantly closing in on Anderson's position.
Anderson felt a chill run down his spine from the man's eyes, which shone terrifyingly bright in the darkness. He could only fire wildly to suppress the man and try to slow him down.
That's fast! Where did these weirdos come from?!
Lu Jingyan kicked over a cart full of glassware next to him.
"Splash!"
The sound of countless glass objects shattering successfully attracted Anderson's attention, and he instinctively fired two shots in the direction of the sound.
This is the gap.
Lu Jingyan appeared to his side like a ghost, kicking the centrifuge hard. The heavy machine slid aside, completely exposing Anderson.
Anderson's pupils contracted sharply. He tried to turn the gun around, but it was too late.
Lu Jingyan's military boots were already in front of him, and a fierce side kick struck his wrist holding the gun squarely.
"Crack!"
The sound of bones breaking was clearly audible.
The pistol flew out of his hand and spun several times on the ground.
The excruciating pain contorted Anderson's face instantly. He tried to scream, but a large, iron-like hand gripped his throat, silencing him completely. Then, another hand, at an odd angle, jabbed his jaw sharply.
Another crisp sound.
Anderson's jaw was forcibly dislocated, his mouth gaping open helplessly, saliva and blood mingling as it flowed out.
Lu Jingyan released his grip, and Anderson collapsed to his knees like a lump of mud. Before he could recover from the extreme pain and fear, two kicks, so fast they were almost invisible, landed precisely on his knees.
"Clang! Clang!"
With his legs bent outward at an abnormal angle, Anderson collapsed to the ground like a dead dog with all its bones removed, only able to let out a desperate "hoarse" whimper from his throat.
Lu Jingyan looked down at him, his face expressionless. He slowly squatted down, leaned close to Anderson's ear, and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "I will make you pay a hundredfold for the suffering my sister endured."
After saying that, he stood up and didn't look at Anderson on the ground again.
The gunfire had stopped. The entire laboratory was filled with a heavy smell of gunpowder and blood; apart from Schmidt's suppressed sobs, there was no other sound.
Lu Jingyan walked step by step toward the experimental bed.
His steps were heavy, each one feeling as if he were stepping on his own heart.
He stood by the bed, looking at the sleeping girl. Ten years had passed, and he had imagined their reunion countless times, but he never expected it to be like this.
The tough guy's eyes were now bloodshot.
He reached out his hand, the same hand that had just mercilessly crushed the enemy's bones, now trembling slightly. He wanted to touch his sister's face, but was afraid of disturbing her.
Finally, his hand landed on the cold straps. Overwhelmed with emotion, his fingers almost wouldn't obey him when he tried to unfasten the first buckle, and it took him two tries to succeed.
He untied all the restraints on her wrists and ankles, and carefully removed the tubes from her body.
He took off his combat jacket and gently covered his sister with it.
After doing all this, he bent down and used all his strength to make his voice sound less choked up.
"Jingyue, your brother has come to take you home."
