Chapter 211 Arrangements Before Departure

Chapter 211 Arrangements Before Departure

Inside the Haitang Technology Laboratory in Beijing.

"It burned again! It burned again, damn it!"

Zhou Jimin's eyes were bloodshot as he stared intently at the charred tube, his gray hair a mess like a chicken coop.

He had been working tirelessly for three days and three nights to realize his wildly imaginative "integrated circuit" concept. However, the existing materials and processes in China simply could not support such high precision requirements, and every attempt ended in failure.

"Engineer Zhou, Engineer Zhou!" A young assistant rushed in, panting, his face beaming with excitement. "We have news!"

Zhou Jimin looked up, his eyes full of annoyance: "What news? Who's been bragging now?"

"No! It's from Shanghai!" The assistant slammed a telegram on the table.

"I asked an old classmate, and he said that a large state-owned factory in Shanghai recently managed to get a batch of second-hand equipment that had been phased out by West Germany through special channels! Apparently, it includes the high-precision lithography machine and single crystal furnace that we need!"

Zhou Jimin's eyes suddenly lit up. He snatched the telegram, his cloudy eyes regaining their light. His thin fingers traced the telegram, and he muttered to himself, "West German equipment... Shanghai..."

He shoved the telegram into his pocket, grabbed his coat, and strode out, his voice filled with unwavering determination: "Book tickets! I'm going to Shanghai right now! Even if I have to kidnap them, I'll bring those lumps of iron back with me!"

...

On the other side, at the Lu family's old residence.

The atmosphere wasn't as hurried as it was on Zhou Jimin's side; instead, it was filled with a sense of warmth and solemnity before his departure.

Meng Wan took Su Wantang's hand and placed a finely sewn red cloth bag into her palm. The bag was warm to the touch, and it seemed to contain a hard object.

"Wantang, this is a good luck charm that Mom got for you and Jingyan from the temple." Meng Wan's eyes were a little red, but she held back her tears and patted Su Wantang's hand.

"Once you get to the Northwest, where the emperor is far away, you need to be careful in everything you do. Jingyan is a stubborn and inflexible boy, so you should give him some pointers, but don't wrong yourself."

She looked into Su Wantang's eyes, her words filled with complete trust and entrustment, "Mom knows you're a decisive person, I'm at ease knowing you two are together."

Grandma Lu, who was sitting next to her, also got up shakily with her cane, took her other hand, her withered palm was not strong, but it was very warm: "Good child, I won't say anything else, just one sentence, you must come back safely."

Looking at the two elders who genuinely loved her, Su Wantang nodded solemnly: "Mom, Grandma, don't worry, I will take good care of him and myself. We will definitely come back together."

After a brief farewell, Lu Jingyan went directly to the military region to complete the relevant procedures and handover work.

Su Wantang returned to Courtyard No. 1.

As soon as the door closed, the gentleness of "Su Wantang" quickly faded away, replaced by the calmness and efficiency of "Bai Zhu".

She went into the study, spread out a piece of paper, and her pen flew across it.

The list clearly outlines the supplies: broad-spectrum antibiotics, high-purity glucose injection, specially made high-calorie military compressed biscuits, special combat uniforms that can withstand extreme temperature differences, portable water purifiers, and two state-of-the-art night vision devices that are only equipped by special military units...

Any one of these things, if leaked out, would be enough to cause a huge uproar.

She put the list away, went into the warehouse, and with a thought, the supplies that had already been categorized and arranged in the Begonia Space silently appeared in each of the military green canvas bags, neatly stacked.

After doing all this, she picked up the phone and dialed Qin Zheng's number.

"Qin Zheng, prepare two of your best GAZ jeeps, fill them with gas, and make sure they have plenty of spare fuel. Check each vehicle thoroughly, inside and out, make sure not a single screw is loose."

Qin Zheng on the other end of the phone didn't ask why, but simply replied in a deep voice, "Yes."

"In addition," Bai Shu paused, "you personally select a few of the most skilled and discreet brothers. They don't need to come with us into the Northwest. Instead, they can set up positions in several key towns on the outskirts, ready to provide support at any time. We'll depart at three o'clock tomorrow morning."

"clear."

After hanging up the phone, the entire No. 1 courtyard returned to silence. Bai Shu stood by the window, looking at the deep night outside, waiting for her man to return.

As night deepened, when the clock on the wall struck eleven, the sound of a car turning off came from outside the gate.

Lu Jingyan is back.

He took off his military overcoat, still carrying the chill of the outside air. Seeing Su Wantang standing by the window, his weary expression softened instantly.

Su Wantang turned around and walked towards him. Moonlight streamed in from behind her, casting a hazy glow on her.

She looked up at him, her beautiful peach blossom eyes reflecting the stars outside the window, and also his figure.

“Jingyan,” her voice was soft, yet carried a comforting power, “this time, I’ll go with you and bring your sister home.”

Lu Jingyan didn't say anything, but simply stretched out his long arms and pulled her tightly into his embrace.

Su Wantang was packing the last of her belongings, putting a few changes of her underwear into her bag.

A hot chest pressed against her from behind, strong arms encircling her waist and pulling her into a tight embrace. Lu Jingyan's chin rested on her shoulder, his hot breath tickling her neck.

He didn't say anything, just held her quietly.

Su Wantang stopped what she was doing, turned around, stood on tiptoe, and pressed her soft lips to his tightly pursed thin lips.

“Don’t be afraid,” she whispered, looking into his unfathomable eyes, “I will always be here.”

She didn't say anything more, but simply took his slightly cold hand and led him towards the bedroom. Actions are always the best way to soothe this man's tense nerves.

In the bedroom, only a dim bedside lamp was left on.

Su Wantang slowly removed her sweater in front of him, leaving her in only a silk petticoat. The soft fabric clung to her shapely figure, outlining breathtaking curves in the dim light.

She walked step by step to Lu Jingyan, and with her slender fingers, she unbuttoned his crisp military uniform, one button at a time.

Her fingertips traced his firm, burning chest, feeling the increasingly rapid heartbeat beneath his bulging muscles.

Lu Jingyan's breath hitched. He grabbed her mischievous little hand, his dark eyes churning like a volcano about to erupt.

Su Wantang chuckled sweetly, pressed herself against him, and whispered in his ear in a voice only the two of them could hear, her breath sweet and fragrant:

"Captain Lu, didn't you say... you would listen to me in everything?"

This seemingly innocuous remark became the final straw that broke the camel's back.

He could no longer restrain himself. With a low growl, he suddenly picked her up and carried her to the soft bed, where he pressed her down heavily.

The night grew deeper.

Outside the window, the cold wind howled and swept through the branches, but inside, it was a warm spring atmosphere.

Sweat quickly soaked the sheets beneath him, and suppressed gasps and broken moans mingled together.

In a brief moment between climbing another summit, with a hint of vulnerability, he repeatedly asked, "You're mine, aren't you?"

Su Wantang opened her eyes groggily, looked at his handsome face covered in sweat, reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck, nodded vigorously, and offered her lips.

After receiving her affirmative response, a new and even more intense offensive came crashing down on him.

After a long time, the storm gradually subsided.

Su Wantang curled up lazily in his sweaty arms, her fair fingers aimlessly drawing circles on his firm chest.

She suddenly spoke, her voice still slightly hoarse: "When we get to the Northwest, we have to be careful about everything. I always feel that place is more dangerous than any of the 'Eagle's Nest' bases we've taken down."

Lu Jingyan tightened his arms, holding her soft body even closer, and rubbed his chin against the top of her head, saying in a deep voice, "Don't worry."

He paused, his tone becoming exceptionally serious.

"But if you encounter danger, you must promise me one thing—protect yourself immediately."
