Chapter 201 Jiang Fan's Secret
The lights in Courtyard No. 1 stayed on until late at night.
When Su Wantang returned, she still carried the chill of the outside air. Lu Jingyan hadn't gone to sleep; he left a floor lamp on for her and leaned back on the sofa, looking at a military blueprint.
Hearing the door open, he put down the blueprints, got up to take the coat she had taken off, and then poured a cup of hot water and handed it to her.
"Is everything resolved?" Lu Jingyan's voice sounded calm and steady in the quiet living room.
“An agent codenamed ‘The Tailor’ is very cunning.” Su Wantang held up a warm cup and briefly recounted the probing at the Moscow restaurant and the subsequent discoveries.
"I'll have Qin Zheng keep an eye on things for now, so as not to alert them."
Lu Jingyan nodded, having no objection to her approach. He pulled her to sit down on the sofa, his large hand naturally enveloping her small hand holding the cup, warming it with his own body heat.
The two leaned against each other quietly for a while, then Su Wantang suddenly remembered something and asked, "By the way, did you give Jiang Fan extra help today?"
"Hmm." Lu Jingyan responded, "That kid is a good prospect, but he's too wild."
“More than just wild.” Su Wantang thought of what Du Kangnian and the others had mentioned about how that Assistant Teacher Chu had been trying to curry favor with Lu Jingyan again today, only to be completely ignored, and couldn’t help but curl the corners of her mouth.
"He's acting a bit strange today," Lu Jingyan suddenly frowned.
"What's wrong?"
“After class, we discussed a battle recap, and I mentioned the phrase ‘sacrifice is inevitable for victory,’” Lu Jingyan recalled the scene, his tone somewhat solemn.
"He completely exploded instantly, his eyes turned red, and he stared intently at me with that look..."
Lu Jingyan paused for a moment, as if searching for a suitable word.
"It's like looking at your father's killer."
Su Wantang stopped holding the water glass.
“He said, ‘In this world, the least deserving of the word ‘sacrifice’ are you.’” Lu Jingyan repeated Jiang Fan’s words.
"That hatred didn't seem feigned. Moreover, it was directed at the 'system'."
Silence fell over the living room.
A genius born into a high-ranking official's family harbors such deep-seated hatred for the system that represents the country. This is highly unusual.
Su Wantang keenly sensed that there must be something hidden behind this.
......
The next day, Su Wantang did not go directly to the pharmaceutical factory, but went to Tangdixuan first.
Qin Zheng stood like a silent statue, already waiting at the door.
"Young Miss".
"Qin Zheng," Su Wantang said as she walked inside, taking off the silk scarf around her neck, "help me investigate someone."
She told Qin Zheng Jiang Fan's name and basic information.
"I need all his information from childhood to adulthood, the more detailed the better. Especially his family, I need to know what happened to each member of his family."
"Yes." Qin Zheng didn't ask why.
"Keep an eye on the 'tailor' side, but don't make any moves for now."
“Set aside some of our best manpower to deal with Jiang Fan’s matter first. I want results today.”
"clear."
Qin Zheng accepted the order and left with astonishing efficiency.
In the evening, a thick brown paper bag was placed on Su Wantang's desk.
Jiang Fan's father, Jiang Weiguo, was one of the youngest chief scientists at the 17th Research Institute, and his main research area was the predecessor of the "Dawn" project.
His mother, Lin Hui, is the chief physician and hematologist at Peking Union Medical College Hospital.
This is a typical elite family: a loving couple, successful in their careers, and they have twins, a boy and a girl. Jiang Fan is the older brother, and the younger sister is named Jiang Feng.
The turning point happened three years ago.
My younger sister, Jiang Feng, was diagnosed with an extremely rare blood disease and needs continuous blood transfusions to stay alive.
After conventional treatments proved ineffective, his mother, Lin Hui, used her connections to get her daughter into the "Spring Bud Welfare Home," which at the time boasted the best blood treatment center in the country, to receive a so-called "special experimental treatment."
Upon seeing the words "Spring Bud Welfare Home," Su Wantang's pupils constricted sharply.
She continued reading.
Jiang Feng died mysteriously less than six months after arriving at the welfare home. The home's explanation was that the experimental treatment had failed, causing serious complications.
Lin Hui, a hematologist, simply didn't believe this explanation. She and her husband, Jiang Weiguo, began a secret investigation into the true cause of their daughter's death.
Then, just the day before they found some key clues and were about to report them to their superiors, the couple were involved in a horrific "accidental" car accident while driving and both died.
Overnight, families were destroyed and people died.
Jiang Fan, who was originally sunny and cheerful, has undergone a drastic change in personality. He has transformed from a genius boy praised by everyone into a cynical and rebellious "troublemaker."
Su Wantang slowly closed the file and shut her eyes.
In an instant, all the scattered clues were connected in her mind by a blood-red thread.
Spring Bud Welfare Home…the Blood Bank of Evil…Lu Wenbo…“Mr”…Lu Jingyue…
The tragedy of Jiang Fan's family was not an accident at all, but another blood debt on the huge and evil industrial chain of "Eagle's Nest"!
His sister, Jiang Feng, did not die from any treatment failure at all. Instead, she was used as a "donor" by that evil blood bank and had her blood drained dry!
His parents were brutally silenced because they were too close to the truth!
No wonder...
No wonder he hates it.
No wonder he questioned the concepts of "dedication" and "sacrifice".
In his world, his parents dedicated their lives to scientific research, and his sister sacrificed her life for the so-called "treatment." But what they gained in return was not honor and health, but cold death and a covered-up truth.
The official channels within the system failed to deliver justice for him. Everything he believed in collapsed that night, along with the tragic deaths of his parents.
This despair stemming from the loss of his family was the root of all his rebellious behavior.
Su Wantang opened her eyes. "Since that's the case, then I'll give you a way to seek revenge."
She realized that Jiang Fan's genius brain, if used for the right purpose, would be the sharpest weapon in "Haitang Technology's" arsenal. And the burning desire for revenge in his heart would be the most powerful driving force behind that weapon.
She was determined to have this man.
...
At the same time, at the library of Kyoto University.
Chu Yunfei, carrying several books, walked through the reading area as if by chance and immediately spotted Jiang Fan sitting in the corner.
He wasn't reading; he was just staring blankly out the window, his profile taut, radiating a gloomy aura that kept strangers at bay.
Chu Yunfei rolled her eyes, walked over gracefully, and gently placed the book on the table opposite him, her face showing just the right amount of tenderness and concern.
"Jiang Fan, are you lost in thought again? You haven't looked too well these past few days. Is something bothering you? You can tell me about it; maybe I can help you."
She spoke in a very soft voice, believing she was showing her most charming side.
Jiang Fan slowly turned his head, his dark eyes devoid of any warmth, staring at her coldly as if she were an insignificant object.
"Stay away from me."
Three words: cold, decisive, and devoid of any emotion.
Chu Yunfei's smile froze. She wanted to say something more, but Jiang Fan had already looked away, picked up the book on the table, and got up to leave, not even bothering to give her a second glance.
A few suppressed laughs came from around her. Chu Yunfei felt her face burning, as if she had been slapped in public, and she was extremely embarrassed.
