Chapter 240 Full-scale Preparations
The car drove through the night and eventually entered the garage of an inconspicuous villa located halfway up the mountain.
This is a safe base provided by Dong Cunshan, completely isolated from the outside world.
The suite was brightly lit, but the atmosphere was so oppressive that it was hard to breathe.
Lu Jingyan remained silent, locking himself in his room from the moment he entered. Qin Zheng stood in the living room, his straight back exuding a chilling aura; he knew the brigade commander was on the verge of exploding with rage.
Bai Shu briefly recounted to Qin Zheng the Huo family's threat, his own response, and that desperate gamble.
Upon hearing this, Qin Zheng's cold, hard face tensed, and he squeezed out a few words through gritted teeth: "Miss, you're taking too much of a risk."
"I'm not taking any risks. Right now, I'm lying in a hospital bed, being studied by others."
Bai Shu spoke in a calm tone. She walked to the table in the center of the living room, pulled out a detailed map of Hong Kong Island from a brown paper bag, and laid it flat on the table.
Her eyes had regained their absolute calmness, as if she hadn't just experienced a life-or-death situation at the Huo family.
"Huo Ling is bluffing me, which means they aren't entirely confident about what's inside the chip. But my unusual behavior will definitely alert them. Once they discover that Su Yuting's physical data is abnormal, or the chip is damaged, that's when they'll resort to desperate measures."
She picked up a red marker and said in a clear, decisive voice, "We must get ahead of them and launch a final assault."
At that moment, the room door opened.
Lu Jingyan emerged, having changed out of his civilian clothes and into a black combat uniform, exuding a chilling aura of steel. He held a white cloth in his hand, slowly and methodically wiping the blade of a military dagger, the dagger's cold gleam reflecting in his unfathomable eyes.
He walked to the table, not looking at Bai Shu, but his gaze fell directly on the map.
Bai Shu glanced at him, but didn't say much. She picked up her pen and began to draw on the map.
“This is a diagram of the internal structure of Nightingale Island drawn by Benjamin from memory, and this is the latest security rotation schedule provided by Huo Jingran.” She pointed to an island on the map with the tip of her pen. “Firepower distribution, patrol routes, and blind spots of surveillance are all here.”
One by one, red crosses and arrows appeared on the map, and a detailed raid plan gradually took shape under her pen.
"My plan is that you lead the main attack, and I will take charge of the perimeter."
Lu Jingyan stopped wiping the dagger, raised his head, and looked at her with piercing eyes: "Go on."
"Your men must be the elite of the elite. The goal is to rush into the 'Moon Goddess's Box' and rescue Lu Jingyue in the shortest possible time. The operation must be swift; you must evacuate before the Huo family's main force can react."
Lu Jingyan's gaze swept over the assault route that Bai Shu had marked on the map. After a moment of silence, he tapped one of the points with his finger:
"This is their main defense zone, where infrared and pressure sensors are most concentrated. If they try to break through by land, they will be detected immediately."
He picked up another black pen and drew a circle in the sea next to that point.
"Infiltrate underwater from here. Qin Zheng, you come with me. Pick seven more people to form a strike team. We only have one chance."
"Yes!" Qin Zheng suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with fighting spirit.
"Leave the outer perimeter to me," Bai Shu continued, making arrangements. "I'll keep the Huo family too busy to care about anything else."
She walked to the telephone next to her and dialed an encrypted number.
The phone was answered after only one ring, and Wang Kun's steady voice came from the other end: "Young Miss."
"Wang Kun, it's me." Bai Shu's voice was devoid of any emotion.
"I want you to use all the funds we can mobilize in Hong Kong Island, and starting tomorrow when the market opens, I want you to dump the Fok Group's stock at any cost. I want to halve their stock price within a day."
"Understood." Wang Kun replied with just two words, without any questions.
After hanging up, Bai Shu dialed another number.
"Hello? Miss Bai! My idol!" Huo Jingran's exaggerated and excited voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Jingran, do me a favor."
"You say it! I'll go through fire and water!"
"Tomorrow morning, go and tell your older brother that I've come to my senses, I've given in, and I'm going to the Huo Group headquarters to discuss the details of the technology transfer contract with him." Bai Shu's tone carried just the right amount of weariness and helplessness.
Huo Jingran on the other end of the phone paused for a moment, then lowered his voice: "Miss Bai, is this... a delaying tactic?"
“Make him focus all his attention on me,” Bai Shu said calmly.
"Brilliant!" Huo Jingran exclaimed, suddenly realizing something. He slapped his thigh excitedly. "I get it! Don't worry, leave this to me. I guarantee I'll put on a convincing performance! I'll make my brother think you're really scared!"
The last phone call was to Dong Cunshan.
"Old Dong."
“Miss Bai! You’ve finally called! The Huo family…” Dong Cunshan’s voice was filled with anxiety.
“The Huo family’s ship is about to sink,” Bai Shu interrupted him directly.
"Now is the time for the Tung family to choose their future. I need you, in the name of the Tung family, to immediately invite all the business owners on Hong Kong Island who have shipping business competition with the Fok family to meet tonight."
Dong Cunshan gasped in shock.
"Tell them that on the night of the final assault, I need them to dispatch all their operational ships under the guise of a 'joint military exercise' to blockade all shipping lanes near Nightingale Island. Once it's done, they can take back the share of shipping to Hong Kong that the Huo family ceded, based on their own abilities."
This is no longer about offering huge profits; it's about drawing up a massive map that could drive everyone crazy.
Dong Cunshan remained silent for a full half minute before speaking in a trembling yet resolute tone: "Miss Bai, I understand. The Dong family is with you!"
Three phone calls, all within ten minutes.
In the living room, Qin Zheng stared in awe at the young woman standing before the map, her expression indifferent. Strategic planning and decisive victory—this was the true essence of his young lady.
With everything in place, the safe house was filled with the oppressive atmosphere typical of the pre-war period.
Lu Jingyan, along with Qin Zheng and three other men who appeared out of nowhere, were inspecting equipment in another room. Each of those three men had eyes like icy blades, and they reeked of an overwhelming stench of blood.
The firearms were disassembled and reassembled, producing a crisp metallic clanging sound.
Lu Jingyan personally changed the magazines for everyone and loaded them with bullets. His movements were steady and powerful, and he checked every detail meticulously.
"Remember, we have only one mission: to save lives." His voice wasn't loud, but it carried clearly to everyone's ears. "Anyone who tries to stop us will be killed without exception. Do you all understand?"
"Understood!" the four shouted in unison, their voices filled with absolute obedience.
The final offensive is scheduled for midnight tomorrow.
Even as night falls, the night view of Hong Kong Island remains dazzling.
Su Wantang stood alone in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the scattered fishing lights on the distant sea, lost in thought.
A series of steady footsteps came from behind.
A black coat, still warm from her body, was draped over her shoulders. She turned around and met Lu Jingyan's deep eyes.
He was also holding something in his hand, a thin bulletproof vest made of special materials.
"Put it on." Without waiting for a reply, he put the bulletproof vest on her and carefully fastened each buckle.
His movements were light, yet carried an undeniable force.
After doing all this, he didn't say any sweet words or offer any further instructions. He simply looked at her intently, with a certainty etched into his very bones, and said in a deep voice:
"Wait for me to come back."
