Chapter 285 The Whole Family Mobilized
Su Wantang was awakened by the morning light.
She opened her eyes, still a little dazed.
She was so tired last night that she fell asleep almost as soon as her head hit the pillow.
The seat next to him was empty; Lu Jingyan wasn't there.
-
She sat up, threw off the covers and got out of bed. As soon as her feet touched the floor, she felt her legs go weak.
Su Wantang steadied herself by holding onto the edge of the bed and saw a set of clothes neatly folded on the dressing table.
A light gray sweater, black trousers, and a scarf.
She walked over, picked up the clothes; the fabric was thick and felt warm to the touch.
After changing her clothes, Su Wantang stood in front of the mirror and raised her hand to fix her hair.
In the mirror, her face was very pale, and her eyes were a little swollen.
There were a few faint red marks on her neck, hidden under her collar, not noticeable unless you looked closely.
She picked up the scarf, wrapped it around twice, and covered the marks.
I pushed open the door; the hallway was quiet.
Su Wantang went downstairs, where Meng Wan was sitting in the living room.
She was flipping through a notebook when she saw Su Wantang come down, and immediately stood up.
"Wantang, you're awake?"
Meng Wan walked over and took her hand.
Did you sleep well last night?
Su Wantang nodded.
"fine."
Meng Wan looked her up and down, her gaze lingering on her neck for a second before moving away.
Are you hungry? I'll go heat up some food for you.
"Mom, I'm not hungry."
Meng Wan ignored her and pulled her towards the restaurant.
"You have to eat even if you're not hungry. Look at you, you've gotten so thin."
Inside the restaurant, several bowls were placed on the table, all covered with lids.
Meng Wan lifted the lid, revealing millet porridge, fried eggs, and several side dishes inside.
“Jingyan made all of this early this morning. He said you didn’t eat anything last night, so you must be hungry this morning.”
Su Wantang sat down, picked up the bowl, and took a sip of porridge.
The porridge was thick and had red dates and longan added, making it sweet.
Meng Wan sat down next to her, still holding the notebook in her hand.
"Wantang, Jingyan told me everything last night."
Su Wantang paused.
Meng Wan took her hand.
"Don't overthink it, it's not your fault."
Su Wantang lowered her head and didn't say anything.
Meng Wan's eyes reddened.
"It's our Lu family's bad luck that you've suffered this injustice."
Her voice was a little choked up.
"Let's not talk about the child anymore."
Su Wantang looked up and saw the tears in Meng Wan's eyes.
She opened her mouth, as if to say something, but her throat felt terribly blocked.
Meng Wan raised her hand and wiped the corner of her eye.
"Don't look at me, I just feel sorry for you."
She opened her notebook and pointed to the densely packed words on it.
"I looked up a lot of recipes last night, all of which are for conditioning the body."
Su Wantang looked at the contents of her notebook.
The labels listed the names of various ingredients and their preparation methods, written in neat handwriting, with each stroke carefully executed.
"Just stay home and rest well these next few days, I'll cook for you every day."
As Meng Wan spoke, she turned another page.
"This is for making soup. I asked an old Chinese medicine doctor, and he said it's good for replenishing qi and blood."
Su Wantang's tears fell.
She turned her face away and wiped it off with her hand.
Meng Wan saw it and hugged her.
"Don't cry, don't cry."
Su Wantang leaned on her shoulder, tears streaming down her face.
Meng Wan patted her back.
"With us here, you have nothing to be afraid of."
Footsteps could be heard coming from the living room.
Lu Zhenguo came in from outside, holding a document in his hand.
He saw the two embracing and paused for a moment.
Meng Wan released Su Wantang and stood up.
"You're back?"
Lu Zhenguo walked over and placed the documents on the table.
"I asked Gao Jianjun to investigate that doctor."
He looked at Su Wantang.
“Something’s not right. I suspect someone is deliberately sabotaging this.”
Su Wantang was stunned for a moment.
"Dad, Dr. Shen is fine. She was just telling the truth."
Lu Zhenguo waved his hand.
"The truth? I doubt it."
He sat down and lit a cigarette.
"How come you managed to get an appointment with her out of all the doctors in Beijing?"
"There's no such thing as a coincidence in this world."
Meng Wan frowned.
"Don't scare Wan Tang."
Lu Zhenguo exhaled a puff of smoke.
“I didn’t scare her, I just felt that this matter needed to be investigated.”
He looked at Su Wantang.
"Don't rush, let's wait for news from Gao Jianjun before we talk about it."
Su Wantang nodded.
"good."
Footsteps came from upstairs.
Grandpa Lu came down, leaning on his cane.
He walked to the dining table and sat down in a chair.
"They're all here."
Meng Wan poured a cup of tea and handed it over.
"Dad, why did you come down?"
The old man picked up his teacup and took a sip.
"I heard you talking upstairs, so I came down to check."
He glanced at Su Wantang, put down his teacup, and slammed his hand on the table.
"If Western medicine doesn't work, try Traditional Chinese Medicine!"
The bowls and chopsticks on the table jolted.
Meng Wan was startled.
"Dad, please don't get agitated."
The old man ignored her and continued talking.
"If it doesn't work in Beijing, we'll search the whole country. Even if it's a god, we'll have to bring him here to treat my granddaughter-in-law."
Su Wantang opened her mouth.
"grandfather……"
The old man waved his hand.
"Stop talking, I'll make the decision."
He stood up and walked towards the study, leaning on his cane.
"I'll go through the phone numbers of my old friends; I'm sure some of them know famous doctors."
Meng Wan followed him for a few steps.
"Dad, slow down."
Lu Zhenguo stubbed out his cigarette.
"I'll also make a few phone calls to see if I know any traditional Chinese medicine practitioners in the military."
He got up and walked outside.
"Wantang, don't overthink it. Our Lu family will not let you suffer any injustice."
After saying that, he strode out the door.
Only Su Wantang and Meng Wan remained in the living room.
Meng Wan walked back and sat down next to her.
"You see, they all care about you."
Su Wantang nodded.
"I know."
Meng Wan patted her hand.
"Just focus on recovering, and we'll take care of the rest."
Su Wantang lowered her head, and tears fell again.
This was the first time she had been treated like this in both her past lives.
In her past life, she was sick for ten years and had no one by her side.
The doctors and nurses were very polite to her, but it wasn't out of concern; it was just their professional ethics.
In this life, the Lu family members did not despise her or blame her; instead, they protected her like a treasure.
Su Wantang sniffed.
"Mom, thank you."
Meng Wan smiled.
"Don't talk nonsense. You're one of our family. Aren't you going to say thank you?"
She stood up.
"You eat first, I'll make you some soup."
After saying that, she took her notebook and went into the kitchen.
Su Wantang sat at the dining table, picked up her bowl, and continued to drink her porridge.
The porridge had gone cold, but she still drank it all, spoonful by spoonful.
After finishing her meal, she took her bowl into the kitchen.
Meng Wan was washing vegetables when she saw her come in and frowned.
"How did you get in here? Get out, the kitchen is smoky."
Su Wantang put down her bowl.
"I want to help."
Meng Wan pushed her to walk outside.
"You're not feeling well, so take a good rest and don't overwork yourself."
"But……"
"There are no buts. Go watch TV in the living room or go back to your room to sleep."
As Meng Wan spoke, she pushed her out of the kitchen and closed the door.
Su Wantang stood at the door and heard the sound of chopping vegetables coming from inside.
She turned and went upstairs.
Back in her room, she sat on the edge of the bed and looked out the window.
The sky was blue, and the sun was shining brightly.
She remembered what Lu Jingyan had said last night.
"I want you."
"We'll talk about the children later."
Su Wantang closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
She stood up, walked to the dressing table, and picked up the jade bracelet from under the pillow.
With a thought, he entered the Begonia Space.
The space was very quiet.
She went to the library and began to browse through medical books.
This time, she didn't look for anything related to "cold uterus".
She was looking for a remedy to "defy fate".
One after another.
"Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Pieces of Gold", "Compendium of Materia Medica", "Golden Mirror of Medicine"...
She flipped through the pages quickly, her eyes scanning each line.
Finally, she found a record in a yellowed ancient book.
"Those who have difficulty conceiving due to cold constitution need long-term conditioning, including internal and external treatments, combined with acupuncture, in order to see results."
Su Wantang stared at those words, her eyes shining.
She continued reading.
"Angelica sinensis, Rehmannia glutinosa, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Paeonia lactiflora... can be combined with Ganoderma lucidum and ginseng, and stewed for consumption."
"It takes three months of consistent treatment to improve physical condition."
Su Wantang put down the book and walked towards the Spirit Spring Pool.
The water in the pool was crystal clear.
She squatted down and scooped up a handful of water.
The water was cold, but my hands warmed up quickly.
The water from the sacred spring can cleanse the tendons and marrow, and strengthen the body.
She used the spiritual spring water to save Lu Jingyan and to heal Old Master Lu.
Could she use her own body as well?
Su Wantang stood up and walked into the medicinal herb field.
Various medicinal herbs are grown here.
Angelica sinensis, Rehmannia glutinosa, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Paeonia lactiflora
All of them are available.
She started picking, and she did so very quickly.
After gathering the medicinal herbs, she walked to the Spirit Spring Pool and threw all the herbs into the pool.
Then, using internal force, he fused the spiritual spring water and medicinal herbs together.
Ripples spread across the water's surface as the medicinal herbs slowly dissolved, transforming into a pool of medicinal liquid.
Su Wantang took off her clothes and jumped into the pool.
The medicine was very hot, but she gritted her teeth and persevered.
The medicine penetrates the skin and enters the meridians.
She could feel something flowing inside her body.
It hurts a lot.
Su Wantang closed her eyes and circulated the Taiyi Xuanjing.
The internal energy circulated within his body in circles.
The medicinal liquid and internal energy intertwined, impacting her meridians.
Time passed second by second.
Su Wantang didn't know how long she had been soaking in the water.
When she came out of the pool, her whole body was red.
She put on her clothes and left the space.
The room was still the same.
Su Wantang lay on the bed with her eyes closed.
I'm physically tired, but I feel at peace.
She will get better.
Definitely.
Lu Jingyan returned that evening.
He pushed open the door and saw Su Wantang lying on the bed.
"Awake?"
Su Wantang opened her eyes.
"Um."
Lu Jingyan walked over and sat on the edge of the bed.
How are you today?
Su Wantang nodded.
"fine."
Lu Jingyan reached out and touched her forehead.
"It's a little hot."
Su Wantang pulled his hand down.
"I'm fine."
Lu Jingyan stared at her for a few seconds.
"What were you doing in the space?"
Su Wantang was stunned for a moment.
How did you know?
Lu Jingyan pointed at her hair.
"Her hair was still wet."
Su Wantang touched her hair.
"I...I went for a medicinal bath."
Lu Jingyan narrowed his eyes.
"What kind of medicinal bath?"
Su Wantang sat up.
"It's a medicinal bath to regulate the body."
Lu Jingyan took her hand and turned it over to look at her palm.
There are a few shallow scratches on my palm.
"You got this cut while gathering herbs?"
Su Wantang nodded.
Lu Jingyan released her hand, leaned down, and pressed her onto the bed.
"Su Wantang, listen to me."
He stared into her eyes.
"Whatever you want to do, you have to tell me."
Su Wantang looked at him.
"I just want to get better."
Lu Jingyan remained silent for a few seconds.
"Jingyan".
Su Wantang grabbed his collar.
"It's my body, I'm in charge."
There was light in her eyes.
"They said no, but I'm going to show them what a miracle is."
Lu Jingyan looked at her and suddenly smiled.
He lowered his head and kissed her lips.
"good."
He released her and sat up.
"Then I'll go with you."
Su Wantang also sat up.
What are you doing here with me?
Lu Jingyan took her hand.
"Whatever you do, I'll accompany you."
Su Wantang's tears fell.
Lu Jingyan reached out and wiped it away.
"Don't cry."
Su Wantang nodded.
"Um."
Lu Jingyan hugged her.
"Wantang, we'll be alright."
Su Wantang leaned against his chest.
Yes, it will.
