Chapter 358 The Call of Fingertips

Chapter 358 The Call of Fingertips

No sooner had the one-eyed man finished speaking than Qin Zheng moved.

He leaned forward, took a half-step forward with his right foot, and his aura suddenly rose.

Those eyes were fixed on the one-eyed man, their murderous intent radiating outwards without any attempt to conceal it.

"Say one more word."

"You won't be able to save your other eye either."

The one-eyed man instinctively took a half step back.

He had met many ruthless people, but he had never encountered one like Qin Zheng, who exuded the aura of blood from head to toe.

That wasn't just a bluff; he really did kill people, many people.

Bai Shu stood behind Qin Zheng, her eyes hidden behind sunglasses, her face expressionless.

She gently raised her hand and pressed her slightly protruding belly.

The child kicked it from inside.

"I'm here to rescue people, not to chat." Her voice was calm, revealing neither joy nor anger. "Lead the way."

One-Eyed Dragon swallowed hard and turned to give a wink to his men.

"Get in the car."

The back seat of the jeep was narrow, and when Bai Shu sat in, everyone in the car stared at her.

She ignored the stares, leaned back in her chair, and closed her eyes.

Qin Zheng sat next to her, his hands always on his waist.

There's a gun hidden there.

The car started, and the roar of the engine was particularly jarring in the night.

The car was driving very fast, and the ride was extremely bumpy.

Bai Zhu placed her hand on her lower abdomen, using her internal energy to protect the child.

The car drove for about half an hour before suddenly stopping.

"Change vehicles." One-Eyed Dragon jumped down and pointed to a military truck parked next to him.

Qin Zheng frowned. "Why change cars?"

“Rules.” The one-eyed man grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth. “So you can remember the way.”

Bai Zhu didn't say anything and got out of the car.

There were no seats in the truck bed, only a few old wooden crates.

She found a relatively stable spot to sit down, and Qin Zheng stood beside her.

The truck drove for another hour or so, and they changed vehicles twice in between.

Each time a new car is used, a new person will be there to meet the passenger.

These people were clearly seasoned veterans; their routes were so cleverly designed that they were almost impossible to track.

After the final change of vehicles, they were crammed into a dilapidated van.

The car windows were completely covered with thick cloth, and it was so dark inside that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

"Blindfold yourself." The one-eyed man threw two pieces of black cloth at him.

Qin Zheng took the cloth, tied it on Bai Shu first, and then tied it on himself.

The car drove for about half an hour before finally stopping.

Bai Zhu was helped off the vehicle. The ground beneath her feet was uneven, like a gravel road.

The wind was strong, whipping up sand that stung my face.

"Keep moving forward." Someone gave her a push from behind.

Bai Shu staggered a step, and Qin Zheng immediately supported her.

"Be careful," he said in a low voice.

Bai Shu nodded and followed the people in front of him.

The road beneath our feet grew steeper and steeper, and the surrounding air grew colder and colder.

After walking for about twenty minutes, a gust of wind suddenly came from ahead.

The sound was strange, a muffled, whimpering sound, like someone was crying.

"We've arrived." The one-eyed man stopped in his tracks.

Bai Zhu heard the sound of a door being pushed open ahead, followed by a pungent smell of disinfectant.

The smell was very strong, almost overpowering the smell of blood.

But it's only almost.

The smell of blood still seeped out, mixing with the disinfectant to create a nauseating odor.

Bai Zhu's eye patch was removed.

The glaring light made her squint.

Once her eyes adjusted to the light, she was able to see her surroundings clearly.

This is an underground base converted from a mine shaft, with several high-wattage light bulbs hanging from the ceiling, illuminating the entire space in a stark white light.

The surrounding walls were rough rocks, the floor was covered with cement, and there were still traces of blood that hadn't dried.

The base is not large, and it is divided into several areas by several iron fences.

In the innermost area, there is a torture rack.

Bai Shu's gaze fell on the rack, and he froze.

Someone was tied to it.

He was covered in blood, his skin was torn open, and he had multiple fractures; he was almost unrecognizable as a human.

But he still held his head high.

Straight, without any curves.

Bai Shu gripped the handle of the medical kit tightly, her nails digging into her palms, the pain keeping her conscious.

She recognized the person.

Lu Jingyan.

Her husband.

The father of the child in her womb.

The man who promised her he would come back.

He is now tied to the rack, on the verge of death.

Bai Zhu closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

The Taiyi Xuanjing circulated within the body, suppressing all emotional fluctuations.

She opened her eyes, and her face returned to calm.

"Where is he?" she asked.

One-Eyed Dragon pointed to the innermost rack.

“Here he is.” He paused. “But I advise you not to get your hopes up too high. This guy is incredibly stubborn. We interrogated him for three days and three nights, and he didn’t utter a single word.”

Bai Shu ignored him and walked inside with her medical kit.

Several burly men with guns stood around the rack, and they all made way for her when they saw her coming.

Bai Shu walked to the rack and stopped.

Lu Jingyan's face was so bloody and mangled that it was unrecognizable.

His uniform was torn to shreds, revealing his scarred chest.

Several of his ribs were broken, and there were several deep knife wounds on his chest that exposed the bone.

There was a deep gunshot wound on my left knee. The blood had already clotted, but the wound was still oozing blood.

All five fingers on his right hand were broken, his nails were pulled out, and his flesh was a bloody mess.

Bai Zhu's hand trembled slightly.

Qin Zheng stood behind her, his voice very low.

"Young Miss".

Bai Zhu shook her head, suppressing all her emotions.

She put down her medical kit and walked up to Lu Jingyan.

Reach out and place your hand on the side of his neck.

The pulse was still beating, very weakly, almost imperceptible.

But it's still jumping.

Bai Zhu's fingers lingered on his neck for a few more seconds.

She felt his pulse skip a beat, slightly stronger than before.

Only a little bit.

But she sensed it.

Lu Jingyan also sensed it.

In the endless darkness, he felt a hand placed on the side of his neck.

The hand was cold, but the touch felt familiar.

He tried to open his eyes, but his eyelids were too heavy and he couldn't open them no matter what he did.

He wanted to speak, but his throat felt like it was stuffed with cotton, and he couldn't make a sound.

But his body reacted instinctively.

My pulse skipped a beat.

Bai Shu's eyes turned red.

She withdrew her hand and turned to face the one-eyed man.

What tools are needed?

The one-eyed man pointed to a broken table next to him.

"Those were all obtained from the hospital; feel free to use them."

Bai Shu walked over and glanced at the things on the table.

Hemostats, scalpel, gauze, alcohol, and several bottles of saline solution.

These are all very basic tools, and many of them are rusty.

She turned around and looked at the one-eyed man.

"I need hot water, lots of hot water. And clean towels and blankets."

The one-eyed man frowned. "We can prepare these, but you have to promise to save the person."

Bai Zhu remained silent.

At this moment, a middle-aged man with a goatee and wearing a Zhongshan suit emerged from the shadows.

He held a pipe in his hand, slowly puffing on it, squinting as he sized up Bai Zhu.

"You're Mr. Bai?"

Bai Zhu nodded.

The man with the goatee smiled.

"I've heard you're a miracle worker, that you can cure any disease." He exhaled a smoke ring, "but seeing you today, I realize you're also carrying goods."

Bai Shu's face was expressionless.

"My private matters are none of your concern."

The man with the goatee laughed heartily.

“You have personality, I like that.” He walked up to Bai Shu, looking down at her. “Then I’ll be frank.”

"Save him, and the deposit will be doubled."

He pointed to Lu Jingyan on the rack.

"If he dies, the two of you will stay and be buried with him."
