Chapter 80 Three-Way Battle
"Bang!"
A gunshot rang out; it wasn't a warning, it was an order.
Behind Huo Sanniang, the Hongmen thugs in black suits moved in unison, their Type 54 pistols spitting fire instantly.
The white mercenaries from "Wild Dogs" were no pushovers either; almost at the same moment the shots rang out, they rolled on the spot, seeking cover.
"Fuck!" the hook-nosed wild dog roared, immediately raising his gun and firing wildly.
The scene was completely chaotic.
Bullets crisscrossed in the rainy night, forming a deadly web.
The worst off were the men Lu Wenbo sent to make contact with. They were a motley crew who had never seen anything like this before. They were completely stunned and cowered behind the refrigerated truck, trembling with fear.
Only one leader remembered his mission. Taking advantage of a lull in the fighting, he took a heavy metal briefcase from the car and crouched down, trying to slip into the darkness on the other side of the dock.
He wanted to run away.
But a black lightning bolt was faster than him!
"Let's do it!"
A low growl came from the walkie-talkie, and the police officers and soldiers who had been lying in ambush rushed out from all directions like tigers descending a mountain!
They didn't come to break up the fight; they came to clear the area!
In an instant, both groups of people on the dock were dumbfounded. What was this third party doing? Had they stirred up a hornet's nest?
Lu Jingyan's target was never these small fry. He transformed into a blur, ignoring the crisscrossing fire lines, and charged straight at the man carrying the box.
A Hongmen thug blocked his way, just raising his gun.
Lu Jingyan didn't even look at him. He slammed his elbow backward with force, and with a "crack," the man's sternum caved in, and he flew backward.
Another person lunged at him, but Lu Jingyan dodged to the side and delivered a clean knee strike to the man's abdomen. The man cried out and collapsed to his knees, vomiting bile that mixed with rainwater and flowed all over the ground.
Unstoppable!
He moved with ease, reaching the man carrying the suitcase in the blink of an eye.
"Give me!"
With a low growl, Lu Jingyan launched a flying kick, slamming it hard into the man's lower back.
The man screamed and fell to the ground, the box flying out of his hand and arcing through the air.
A glint flashed in Lu Jingyan's eyes, and he reached out to grab it.
"Hehehe... Commander Lu, what skill you have!"
A voice, both alluring and chilling, rang out from behind him.
Huo San Niang!
She had left the speedboat at some point and appeared on the battlefield like a ghost.
The dark green cheongsam remained spotless amidst the hail of bullets, her snow-white thighs barely concealed by the slit, each step swaying gracefully yet carrying a deadly intent.
She noticed Lu Jingyan; this man was the biggest variable of the night.
Before she finished speaking, Huo San Niang had already made her move!
Her five fingers formed claws, whistling sharply as she aimed for Lu Jingyan's wrist, the one holding the gun. Her nails were painted with bright red nail polish, like five bloodthirsty, cold stars in the night.
Lu Jingyan's pupils contracted. Before he could grab the box, he blocked the claw with a backhand.
"Bang!"
Their fists and claws clashed, producing a muffled thud.
The two of them took half a step back at the same time, and fine cracks appeared on the cement ground beneath their feet.
They are all top-notch experts!
A hint of surprise flashed in Huo San Niang's eyes, followed by even greater interest.
"Interesting. The Lu family in Beijing is indeed full of hidden talents."
She launched another attack, her figure elusive, her arms dancing wildly like serpents, each move aimed at Lu Jingyan's vital points.
Lu Jingyan, on the other hand, moved with wide, sweeping movements, each punch and kick carrying the fierce, steely aura honed in the military, powerful and heavy.
In an instant, the two were locked in a fierce battle, their energy surging outwards, making it impossible for anyone around them to get close.
The metal box containing the "Candle Dragon" clattered to the ground, right in the middle of their battle, and neither of them could reach it.
...
The basement of Chunlei Children's Welfare Home.
Bai Shu looked down at Zhou Yali, who had collapsed, with a cold look in his eyes.
"You think it's over once you've moved one box?"
Her voice was soft, yet it was like an ice pick, piercing Zhou Yali's eardrums.
“Those children whose blood you sold, those forged medical records, and that trading network on the wall… Do you think Lu Wenbo would offend everyone for your sake?”
Zhou Yali's body trembled violently; fear almost suffocated her.
Yes, she was just a minor character, a pawn that could be sacrificed at any time!
"No...no..." she murmured to herself, her spirit completely crushed.
Suddenly, as if she had thought of something, she abruptly raised her head, stared intently at Bai Shu with an extremely venomous gaze, and let out a hysterical, shrill laugh.
"Hahaha! You think you've won? Let me tell you, you'll get nothing!"
"That box is fake! It's bait that Second Master laid out!"
Zhou Yali screamed like a madwoman.
"The real trump card is nowhere to be found! You will all die! You will all die!"
Bai Zhu's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
She pressed down slightly with her feet.
"Ah—!" Zhou Yali's scream rang out again.
"Where?" Bai Shu's voice remained calm.
"I...I'll talk...I'll talk!"
The excruciating pain caused Zhou Yali to completely give up resisting, and she cried out.
"It's... in the safe in my office! It's a set of original experimental data! Second Master said it was his talisman, and also his death warrant!"
Having gotten the answer he wanted, Bai Shu didn't look at her again and turned to leave.
"Clean this place up," she instructed Zheng Kai's men.
"Yes, Miss Bai."
Dean's Office.
Bai Shu walked directly to a landscape painting on the wall, lifted the painting, and revealed a safe embedded in the wall.
It's the most advanced kind, with a password and a key. Even with explosives, it wouldn't be easy to open it in a short time.
But Bai Shu simply stretched out his hand, his fingertips lightly brushing across the cipher disk, as if sensing the internal mechanical structure.
Then, she took out a metal wire from her pocket and inserted it into the keyhole.
The entire process was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
There was a soft "click".
The heavy safe door opened silently.
There were no gold or silver jewels inside, only a small lead box, about the size of a palm, lying quietly.
It feels extremely heavy.
Bai Zhu held the lead box in his hand; its cold metallic texture felt as if he were holding the source of countless evils.
She had just put the lead box into her bag.
"Bang--!"
The office door was kicked open from the outside, sending splinters flying.
A figure covered in blood, exuding an extremely tragic and murderous aura, staggered in.
It is Lu Jingyan.
He had clearly just escaped from the bloody battle at the docks; his military green shirt was stained dark red with blood, some from the enemy and some from his own.
His intelligence network was ultimately one step ahead, and they located the final hiding place.
The first thing he saw when he rushed in was the woman standing in front of the safe.
A woman with a slender figure and an icy, sword-like demeanor, dressed in a sharp suit.
Boss Bai.
Their eyes met.
