Chapter 228 One Night in Guangzhou

Chapter 228 One Night in Guangzhou

When the train arrived at Yangcheng Station, a wave of humid, hot air mixed with moisture and blooming flowers hit us, a stark contrast to the dryness of the north.

The platform was bustling with people, and loudspeakers were broadcasting announcements in Cantonese that I couldn't understand. Men and women wearing polyester shirts and bell-bottoms carried large and small bags and hurried through the area, and the air was filled with a vibrant and lively atmosphere.

White Swan Hotel.

As one of the most prestigious hotels in Guangzhou and even the entire country, everything here exudes a fashionable and sophisticated charm that is completely different from the solemnity of Beijing. The gleaming marble floors, the dazzling crystal chandeliers, and the impeccably dressed, courteous waiters all contribute to the atmosphere.

After Qin Zheng completed the check-in procedures, the group took the elevator upstairs.

For dinner, they chose the hotel's Chinese restaurant.

January and February sat at another table, keeping a distance that was neither too close nor too far from Qin Zheng.

Su Wantang ordered several light Cantonese dishes: crystal shrimp dumplings, blanched bok choy, and a slow-cooked soup.

As soon as the dishes were served, several men at the next table, wearing floral shirts and gold watches, and speaking broken Mandarin, began to glance over restlessly.

Their gazes first lingered on Su Wantang's overly delicate face, and then brazenly fell on January and February.

Today, January wore a well-tailored beige suit, her short hair neat, and her expression aloof. But the suit jacket couldn't hide her amazing curves at all; her chest was high and full, while her waist was excessively thin, creating a striking contrast that outlined a terrifying hourglass figure.

In February, she wore a light blue cheongsam, with gentle features and long hair draped over her shoulders. However, the high slit at the hem of the cheongsam occasionally revealed a section of her fair and slender thigh as she picked up food, arousing the imagination.

"Hey, Ah Qiang, look at those Northern girls, they're really hot!" A tall, thin Hong Kong businessman said to his companion in a low voice, speaking in broken Mandarin, his eyes gleaming with undisguised desire.

"Especially that one in the suit, tsk tsk, that physique, he'd be a real handful!" Another fat man chuckled lewdly, deliberately raising his voice, "I wonder how much he charges a night?"

The foul language came through clearly.

Qin Zheng put down his chopsticks, his face instantly darkening, and his hand already reaching for his lower back. He had never allowed the young lady to suffer such humiliation before, even while serving her.

January and February also stopped moving, their eyes cold as they looked over, exuding a dangerous aura.

The atmosphere in the restaurant suddenly froze.

"Have a meal."

Lu Jingyan's calm voice rang out. He didn't even look up, but simply placed a piece of bok choy on Su Wantang's plate.

Qin Zheng paused, and seeing the look Lu Jingyan gave him, he finally withdrew his hand. But his eyes never left the Hong Kong businessmen, like a wolf ready to pounce on its prey.

Su Wantang didn't even glance at those people, slowly and methodically eating her food, as if she hadn't heard the profanities.

Seeing that there was no reaction from them, the Hong Kong businessmen became even bolder, and their laughter grew increasingly arrogant.

"What's with the high and mighty act? Aren't you just here to hook up with rich guys?"

"Why don't we go over and ask about the price? I have plenty of money!"

Lu Jingyan finished his meal, slowly wiped his hands with a napkin, and then picked up an unopened bottle of local beer from the table.

It was a thick, brown glass bottle, which looked rather small in his large, well-defined hands. He didn't speak, but simply hefted the bottle in his palm, the bottle making a dull "tap, tap" sound as it collided with his hand.

His gaze finally lifted and landed on the Hong Kong businessmen.

There was no emotion in his eyes, no anger, no warning; just a bottomless coldness.

The muscles in his arms bulged slightly as he tossed the bottle, stretching the sleeves of his white shirt into a solid arc.

The noisy people at the next table suddenly fell silent.

The smiles on the faces of the Hong Kong businessmen froze. They looked at the beer bottle in Lu Jingyan's hand, then at his cold eyes, and then at the burly man's piercing gaze. Cold sweat broke out on their foreheads.

An invisible pressure enveloped them.

The fat man's face jiggled, and he stammered, "Pay...pay the bill! Quickly!"

The group frantically pulled money from their pockets and slammed it on the table. They didn't even have time to pull out their chairs before they practically tumbled and crawled away from the restaurant, looking utterly disheveled.

The customers at the surrounding tables were dumbfounded, completely confused about what had happened. They just wondered why those Hong Kong businessmen, who had been so arrogant just moments before, had suddenly run away.

Lu Jingyan put the beer bottle back on the table with a soft "clang".

He picked up his chopsticks and placed a shrimp dumpling on Su Wantang's plate, saying, "Try this."

Su Wantang ate the shrimp dumplings before looking up at him, a hint of a smile in her eyes.

Without lifting a finger or uttering a single word, he could overwhelm his opponent with sheer presence.

...

Back in the room, it was a luxurious suite with a view of the Pearl River at night.

Outside the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, the river shimmered and the lights of countless homes twinkled on the opposite bank. A river breeze blew in, carrying a damp scent.

Su Wantang took off her high heels, walked barefoot on the soft carpet, and went to the window.

A warm, firm chest pressed against her from behind, and a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist.

Lu Jingyan rested his chin on her shoulder and asked in a low voice, "Still thinking about what happened earlier?"

“No.” Su Wantang shook her head, leaning against him and looking at the night view outside the window. “I was just thinking that tomorrow I’m going to a completely unfamiliar battlefield.”

She paused, then turned around to face him.

Only one dim wall lamp was on in the room, casting an ambiguous light.

She tiptoed and kissed his thin lips, a mischievous glint in her clear, peach-blossom eyes.

"So, tonight... shouldn't Captain Lu give me some 'pre-battle encouragement'?"

Lu Jingyan immediately swept him up in a princess carry and strode towards the huge floor-to-ceiling glass window.

"Ah!" Su Wantang exclaimed, instinctively hugging his neck tightly.

The cold glass against her back made her shiver.

Outside the window is the dazzling night view of Guangzhou, with bustling traffic and brilliant lights.

Inside the window, however, were two figures locked in passionate embrace.

The stark visual contrast delivers a thrilling, visceral experience.

His kiss landed, with irresistible force, from her forehead to the tip of her nose, then to her lips, and finally down to her delicate and beautiful collarbone.

What kind of incentive do you want?

Su Wantang's breathing became erratic. She whispered a few words in his ear, in a voice only the two of them could hear.

"I need you... to feed me completely, inside and out, so that I'll have the strength to kill tomorrow."

......

Night was falling.

The lights of thousands of homes outside the window reflected the undulating shadows on the windowpane, creating a mesmerizing scene.

The room gradually quieted down as the sky began to lighten.

The next morning, Su Wantang woke up in Lu Jingyan's arms.

Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, casting a dappled pattern on the floor.

She felt sore all over, yet also felt an indescribable comfort throughout her body, and her spirits were more vibrant than ever before.

She turned her head to look at the handsome sleeping face of the man beside her, her fingers gently tracing his deep contours.

This night of tenderness will be her strongest and warmest support as she fights her way through the treacherous waters of Hong Kong Island.

Su Wantang's lips curled into a confident smile.

She is ready.
