Chapter 272 The Wrath of the Heir
Bai Shu turned and walked out of the interrogation room, and Qin Zheng immediately came to greet him.
"Young Miss, what should we do next?"
Bai Shu took out his notebook and tore off the page with the address written on it.
"Go to these places and see if the safe houses are still usable."
"yes."
Bai Zhu got into the car, leaned back in the seat, and closed her eyes to rest.
My mind was filled with the names I had just seen.
After twelve years, it's unknown how many members of Haitang's intelligence network remain.
She took a deep breath and pulled out her communicator.
"Du Kang Nian" (杜康年).
Du Kangnian's voice came through the communicator: "Boss Bai, what are your orders?"
What businesses does the Wu Wenshan family have in the south?
"It's mainly tea and cloth, and a few restaurants."
"Smash it," Bai Shu said. "Use every means at your disposal to make his backyard burn down."
Du Kangnian was stunned for a moment: "Boss Bai, this..."
"Don't ask why, just do it."
"yes."
Bai Zhu hung up the communicator and dialed another number.
"Wang Kun".
"Boss Bai."
"How many cargo ships can you send over?"
Three ships.
"Send them south to cooperate with Du Kangnian's operations."
"clear."
Bai Zhu put away the communicator and opened her eyes.
Outside the car window, the night was so dark it seemed impenetrable.
She touched the jade bracelet on her wrist; it was warm and smooth, carrying a faint warmth.
...
Courtyard No. 1, study.
Zhou Jimin knocked on the door and came in, holding a report in his hand.
"Boss Bai, I've finished analyzing that signal transmitter."
Bai Shu looked up: "Speak."
“The communication frequency is very special; it’s not a regular civilian frequency band.” Zhou Jimin placed the report on the table. “I reverse engineered its communication frequency. Although I couldn’t decipher the content, I could roughly locate the signal source.”
Bai Zhu's eyes lit up.
Where?
Zhou Jimin marked several locations on the map.
"Here, here, and here."
Bai Zhu stared at the map for a few seconds.
She was very familiar with one of the locations.
Tranquil Tea House.
Places Wu Wenshan frequents.
She gripped the map tightly, her voice cold.
"Zhou Jimin, you did a great job."
"Mr. Bai, you're too kind."
Bai Zhu stood up and picked up her coat.
"Qin Zheng, come with me."
Qin Zheng was taken aback: "Young Miss, where are we going?"
"Tranquility Tea House".
...
Jingxin Tea House is located in a hutong in Dongcheng District. It has a small storefront with a wooden sign hanging on it.
Bai Zhu got out of the car and stood at the entrance of the alley, looking inside.
The teahouse windows shone with a dim yellow light, through which several figures could be vaguely seen.
She took out her communicator and dialed Fang Zheng.
"Craftsman, I need all the information about the Jingxin Tea House."
"Young Master, please wait a moment."
After a while, Fang Zheng's voice came.
"The owner of Jingxin Tea House is named Li Fugui. On the surface, he's a tea merchant, but in reality..."
"Actually what?"
“It’s actually a liaison station.” Fang Zheng lowered his voice. “Haitang’s intelligence indicates that this place was Eagle’s Nest’s stronghold ten years ago.”
Bai Shu's heart skipped a beat.
really.
"Anything else?"
“Li Fugui has seven or eight men under his command, all of whom are skilled in martial arts,” Fang Zheng said. “The madam tried to infiltrate him back then, but failed.”
Bai Shu hung up the communicator and glanced back at Qin Zheng.
"Did you bring a gun?"
Qin Zheng patted his waist: "I brought it."
“Okay,” Bai Shu said, “Come in with me.”
The two walked into the alley and pushed open the door of the teahouse.
There were five or six guests sitting inside, all drinking tea and chatting.
A middle-aged man in his forties came up to greet them, smiling warmly.
"What would you two like to drink?"
Bai Shu glanced around and sat down by the window.
"Da Hong Pao" (a type of traditional Chinese robe).
"Okay."
The middle-aged man turned and walked towards the back room.
Bai Zhu took out a handkerchief and casually wiped the table.
A tiny metal particle was wiped off the handkerchief.
She gripped the handkerchief tightly and stuffed it into her pocket.
Zhou Jimin was right.
This place is indeed haunted.
Qin Zheng lowered his voice: "Miss, what should we do?"
Bai Shu didn't speak, but just stared in the direction of the back hall.
After a while, the middle-aged man came out carrying a teapot.
"Sir, your tea is served."
Bai Zhu took the teacup and took a sip.
The taste was very ordinary, a far cry from the Da Hong Pao tea she gave to Wu Wenshan.
She put down her teacup and looked up at the middle-aged man.
"Mr. Li, may I speak to you in private?"
Li Fugui's expression changed: "Sir, what's wrong...?"
Bai Shu took out the diamond-shaped badge and placed it on the table.
Li Fugui stared at the badge, his eyes gleaming.
"Come with me."
He turned and walked towards the back hall, and Bai Shu followed him.
Qin Zheng wanted to follow, but she stopped him.
"Wait outside."
Qin Zheng hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
Bai Shu followed Li Fugui into the back hall, through a long corridor, and into the innermost room.
The room was small, with only a table and a few chairs.
Li Fugui closed the door and looked back at her.
"Who are you?"
Bai Zhu took off the jade bracelet from her wrist and placed it on the table.
Li Fugui stared at the jade bracelet, his face turning deathly pale.
"You...you're from Haitang?"
"Um."
Li Fugui took a step back and bumped into the door.
"Impossible... Haitang was wiped out long ago..."
Bai Shu stared at him, her voice cold.
What is Wu Wenshan doing?
Li Fugui shook his head: "I don't know..."
Bai Shu pulled out a gun and pressed it against his forehead.
"Say it again, what is Wu Wenshan doing?"
Li Fugui was trembling all over, and cold sweat was streaming down his forehead.
"I...I really don't know..."
Bai Zhu pulled the trigger; the bullet grazed his ear and hit the door.
Li Fugui was so frightened that he collapsed to the ground.
"I'll talk...I'll talk..."
"Speak quickly."
"Wu Wenshan has been transporting something lately, purple soil..."
Bai Shu was startled.
Purple clay.
"Where was it shipped to?"
“I don’t know…” Li Fugui said with a mournful face, “I’m just a liaison officer, they don’t tell me these things…”
Bai Shu put away his gun and turned to walk out.
"Remember, keep what happened today to yourself."
Li Fugui lay on the ground, nodding repeatedly.
Bai Zhu left the teahouse and got into the car.
Qin Zheng started the car: "Miss, how is it?"
“Wu Wenshan is transporting purple clay,” Bai Shu said. “Immediately contact Gao Jianjun and seal off all entrances and exits to Beijing.”
"yes."
The car drove out of the alley and turned onto the main street.
Bai Zhu leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes.
The purple clay was transported to Beijing; this was a more serious matter than she had imagined.
She took out her communicator and dialed Lu Jingyan's number.
The communicator emitted a busy tone.
No one answered.
Bai Shu felt a tightness in his chest.
What's going on with Jingyan?
...
Northwest, canyon.
Lu Jingyan crouched behind the boulder, took out a reflective lens, and adjusted the angle.
Through the lens, the commander on the opposite mountain wall was hiding behind cover, firing his gun in this direction.
Lu Jingyan narrowed his eyes and stared at the person's position for a few seconds.
He put down the lens, took out his gun, and checked the magazine.
"Wang Kun".
Wang Kun crawled over: "Brigade Commander Lu."
"I'm going to draw that commander's gunfire; you cover me."
Wang Kun's expression changed: "Brigade Commander Lu, this is too dangerous!"
"Listen to me."
After Lu Jingyan finished speaking, he crouched down and moved a few steps to the left.
He deliberately exposed half of his body and fired a shot at the opposite mountain wall.
The commander on the other side took the bait and raised his gun to aim at him.
Lu Jingyan silently counted in his mind.
Three, two, one.
A shot rang out.
He turned to the side, and the bullet grazed his shoulder.
In that instant, he raised his gun and pulled the trigger.
The bullet flew out and hit the commander in the chest.
The man swayed and fell off the cliff.
Lu Jingyan put away his gun and shouted.
"Suppressive fire! Counterattack!"
The members of the Knife Tip Squad raised their guns and fired at the cliff face.
The enemy's firepower immediately fell into disarray.
Lu Jingyan seized the opportunity and led his men out of the canyon.
The bullets chased after their heels, hitting the ground and kicking up dust.
Lu Jingyan ran at the front and glanced back at the group.
There are twelve people, and eight are left.
He gritted his teeth and continued charging forward.
The roar of helicopters could be heard from outside the canyon.
Gao Jianjun's men have arrived.
