Chapter 398 Too Late to Regret

Chapter 398 Too Late to Regret

Cen Yan, of course, had no idea what Qi Jingchuan was thinking. Seeing that he accepted the ten yuan, she felt at ease and took the remaining nine hundred and ninety yuan into the house, put it away with the money and tickets in the iron box, and threw it into her spatial storage.

No matter where you hide the money, it's not as safe as having it with you.

When Cen Yan came out, Qi Jingchuan had already tied on an apron and was preparing dinner in the kitchen.

"Let's not send New Year's gifts to Grandpa and Grandma this year. In the next couple of days, you can tidy up the guest room and invite them to our house for the New Year. They can eat and drink together, so we won't send any gifts."

"OK."

Even if Cen Yan didn't mention it, Qi Jingchuan would still talk to his wife about it. His grandparents had come to Dongming Island to retire and provide re-employment guidance to the factory workers, and they wouldn't be returning to Beijing anytime soon.

At other times, it's fine, but during holidays like Chinese New Year, it's best to bring the elderly to live with you.

As the year draws to a close, the health center is getting busier and busier because of the cold weather and the large number of people with colds and fevers.

The organization can't function without people, but there are only three people in total: Cen Yan, Huang Yuchang, and Zhou Chen.

Huang Yuchang used a lottery system to arrange duty shifts during the Chinese New Year period.

Cen Yan is in charge of the first, fourth, and seventh days of the Lunar New Year. After completing her three shifts, she will return to work as usual.

When Cen Yan got home that evening, she saw Qi Jingchuan's bicycle parked in the yard, and heard laughter coming from inside the house.

"What are you chatting about? You seem to be having a great time." Cen Yan walked into the room, where Zhao Gongqin and Su Xianhua were already there.

Su Xianhua said politely, "Yanyan, Jingchuan said he'd like to invite us to his home for the New Year, did you know that?"

She was afraid that Cen Yan didn't know that Qi Jingchuan had acted first and informed her later, and that the two old men had bothered Cen Yan.

"Yes, I know. I asked him to bring you and Grandpa over so the whole family can spend the Spring Festival together."

“That’s right, it’s more lively with more people.” Su Xianhua and Zhao Gongqin finally breathed a sigh of relief when they heard Cen Yan say it was her own idea.

As people get older, they worry about becoming disliked.

"Grandpa and Grandma, if you see what you need in our place, please tell Qi Jingchuan. You can also tell me, and I'll get it for you when I get off work."

"We have everything we need. You're so thoughtful, you've even prepared several blankets. We can't possibly cover all of them!"

Su Xianhua patted Cen Yan's hand, "You're the one who's shivering from the cold. Your health center is really something, there are only two or three days left until the New Year, why don't you give us a holiday and let us come back?"

"Getting sick doesn't discriminate between New Year's Eve and Spring Festival. Someone has to be on duty at work during New Year's Eve and Spring Festival. I'm on holiday starting tomorrow, Grandma. Can you come with me to buy New Year's goods tomorrow? Then I have to be on duty on New Year's Day."

Su Xianhua had long wanted to go shopping with Cen Yan.

“Okay, let’s go to the supply and marketing cooperative and then go to the countryside to find some fishermen to see if they have any seafood. We can buy some to prepare for the New Year.”

Cen Yan thought for a moment and said, "Okay! We'll do as you say."

After saying that, Cen Yan went back to her room to get a change of clothes and took hot water to the bathroom to wash up.

When she came out, she was shivering from the cold. The water droplets on her neck that she hadn't had time to wipe away seemed to freeze into ice with the cold air, freezing on Cen Yan's collarbone, making her look incredibly beautiful.

Qi Jingchuan stared intently at his wife's collarbone, his Adam's apple bobbing, his eyes dark and unfathomable.

He regretted bringing the two elderly people to his home for the Lunar New Year so early.

Qi Jingchuan wasn't the only one who regretted it; Zhao Gongqin and Su Xianhua also did, especially Zhao Gongqin.

As a man himself, how could he not see the impulse and restraint in his grandson's eyes?

If he had known the couple's relationship would progress so quickly, he would never have bothered them. Otherwise, he might have been able to hold his great-grandson next October.
