Gu Huanian frowned. "Comrade Mu, that scarf is really important to me. It was a gift from my boyfriend. Please return it to me."
"Object?"
Mother Mu asked incredulously, "Didn't you come here this time intending to date our Lanlan?"
Mr. Mu also looked at Gu Huanian with a puzzled expression. He thought that this kid had already seen through the situation before coming to their house, but he didn't expect that he was only here for a scarf.
“Auntie, you misunderstand. Comrade Mu took my scarf when he came to my house last time, so the main purpose of my visit today is to get that scarf back.”
Mu's father's face was as black as the bottom of a pot; this Gu Huanian was too ungrateful.
Their Lanlan is so beautiful, smart and cute, I wonder how many young men in this military compound are pursuing her, but Gu Huanian just doesn't appreciate it.
“Huan Nian, are you really going to abandon our Lan Lan for that country woman?”
Mu's mother said unwillingly, "Does Gu Huanian even know how much help he would get in his career if he married their Lanlan?"
“Auntie, you’re joking. In my heart, there’s only my boyfriend. Comrade Mu is a very good person, but I’m not good enough for him.”
After saying that, he turned his gaze back to Murong Lan and said, "Please give me back my scarf."
As he spoke, Gu Huanian reached out his hand to her.
Murong Lan didn't dare to look at Gu Huanian at all, and sat there feeling uneasy. She just couldn't get that scarf out no matter what!
She couldn't tell him that she had gone to the Northeast to cause trouble for Su Li, only to be humiliated instead.
Not only would it be embarrassing, but Gu Huanian might get even angrier if he heard it.
Mr. Mu felt ashamed and his gaze toward Gu Huanian was no longer as polite as before. He said to his daughter, "If you really took someone else's scarf, return it to them immediately. If you want a scarf, I'll have your mother take you to the Friendship Store to buy one later."
Murong Lan was somewhat afraid of her father. Seeing his unquestionable gaze, she said softly, "I can't find my scarf. I lost it by accident."
Mr. Mu was furious with his daughter; she was such a disgrace. She took other people's things, and not only did the people come to the house to ask for them back, but she also lost them. How could he have given birth to such a stupid and foolish daughter?
Gu Huanian was somewhat angry. He casually entered his room, took his things, and then threw them away.
Murong Lan is truly remarkable.
"Where did you throw it?" he asked coldly.
"I just threw it on the road, I guess someone picked it up a long time ago."
Gu Huanian clenched his fists tightly, his eyes sharp. If she weren't a woman, he would have given her a few punches today.
"I apologize for disturbing you today. In the future, please advise your daughter not to touch my things when she visits my home."
After saying that, Gu Huanian turned and left the Mu family.
When Gu Huanian left, Father Mu's face turned completely gloomy. "Murong Lan, how many times have I told you, as a member of the Murong family, you must not bring shame to the family when you are out in public. Look at you, taking things from other people's homes without permission. Who taught you to do this? You have made me lose all face today."
Look at what Gu Huanian just said. Didn't he say that the Mu family's daughter was ill-mannered?
The implication was that he should keep the person in check before releasing him.
Seeing her father's grim expression, Murong Lan quietly moved closer to her mother.
"Old Mu, say less. Lanlan already knows she was wrong."
The father said angrily, "Does she even look like she knows she's done anything wrong? I think it's because you spoil her every day that she doesn't know her place and dares to take other people's things without permission."
Mu's mother handed him a cup of tea and comforted him, "Calm down. You finally got a day off at home today, so don't cause trouble."
Mu's father said helplessly, "Just keep spoiling her! One day she'll cause a big disaster, and then you'll all be crying."

After returning home, Gu Huanian first bought two locks and locked the study and his own room. Only then did he go downstairs to find his mother, wanting to have a proper talk with her.
Chen Shujing was downstairs drinking flower tea when she saw Gu Huanian come down, and only glanced at him briefly.
Gu Huanian sat down opposite her, poured himself a glass of water, and said, "Mom, I want to have a good talk with you about my relationship with Su Li."
Chen Shujing took a sip of tea, gently set the cup down, and said, "You go ahead."
“I really like her, and I want to marry her. I hope you will stop trying to match me up with Murong Lan.”
Chen Shujing said dismissively, "What kind of bewitching drug did that country girl give you? Lanlan is such a good girl, and I've watched her grow up since she was a child. She's more than good enough for you."
"Even if you're right, and she's good in every way, I still don't like her. Mom, I hope you can understand me and respect me. Su Li is truly a very good person."
Chen Shujing remained unmoved, picked up her teacup and took another sip before saying, "I don't care who you like, I just like Lanlan, and I've decided that she will be my daughter-in-law. No matter what you say, it's useless."
"Mom, I'm telling you this one last time: I only love Su Li, and I will only ever acknowledge her in this life. Whether you accept it or not doesn't matter; I'll just live outside from now on."
After saying that, Gu Huanian went straight back to his unit.
Chen Shujing stood up, a faint smile playing on her lips; the wolf cub has really grown up and is starting to know how to rebel.
She glanced at her wristwatch; it was still early.
She grabbed a steamed bun from the kitchen, hopped on her bicycle, and rode out to a dilapidated courtyard. She opened the gate, pushed her bike inside, and walked straight in.
She parked the car, locked the gate, and headed towards the cellar.
The cellar was large, and inside was a huge cage. The woman in the cage heard the noise and raised her head, revealing a face just like Chen Shujing's.
"Sister, your good son has really grown up. His wings are starting to harden, and he wants to fly out of my palm. Humph, do you think I'll give him the chance?"
"Shuling, now that you've gotten what you wanted, please let Huanian go! I'm begging you," the woman pleaded.
"Beg me? Why didn't you take me with you when you ran away? Do you know what I went through all those years? I suffered so much. I just wanted your son to experience what it's like to not be with the one he loves. Besides, I even found him a suitable match. I'm not as cold-blooded as you."
The woman looked at her pleadingly, "Shuling, I'm begging you, take your anger out on me, just let Huanian go!"
"Hahahaha... Don't worry, I just want him to marry a woman he doesn't love, I won't do anything else to him. This is a steamed bun I brought you from home, are you hungry? Eat it quickly! Don't starve to death, otherwise it will be my fault."
After saying that, she turned and left.
Time flies, and soon the ground thawed.
Spring planting has begun, and Su Li's carefree days have come to an end.
