Jiang Lan took the money and said, "I think you're a good person, much better than Chen Shengnan. You know my brother is an officer in the army, with a bright future ahead of him. He's also good-looking, and I don't know how many girls in the village have their eyes on him."
Hearing this, Zhang Yuan gritted her teeth, took out five yuan from her pocket and handed it to Jiang Lan, saying, "I'm giving you all my savings. Help me get Jiang Jin, and then I'll ask my dad to give you a bigger dowry and some good stuff."
Jiang Lan was incredibly excited when she heard this.
They knew how much the brigade leader cherished this daughter; he had even separated from his two sons for her sake.
I can't imagine how much she'll bring as dowry.
"Zhang Yuan, I'm making this clear to you this time. You have to follow my instructions completely this time, and you can't show up early again. I promise you, this time my fourth brother is yours."
Upon hearing Jiang Lan's words, Zhang Yuan was so excited she wanted to scream.
She couldn't imagine how happy she would be if she were with Jiang Jin.
Unbeknownst to them, their entire conversation was overheard by a furtive figure lurking outside the door.
"Okay, I promise I'll listen to you this time. So when do you plan to make your move again?"
Jiang Lan thought for a moment; "Bring me another dose of medicine tomorrow. My fourth brother is going back to his unit at the end of the month. We'll make our move the day after tomorrow."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Yuan was so excited she almost jumped for joy. In just a few days, she could be with Jiang Jin forever.
She could touch Brother Jin's abs, and just imagining that scene made her nose bleed.
Jiang Lan glanced at her and said anxiously, "Why are you having a nosebleed so suddenly? Could it be some kind of strange illness?"
Zhang Yuan said somewhat embarrassedly, "No, I've just been feeling a bit feverish these past couple of days."
"Okay, if there's nothing else, you can go back first. I'll come to get the medicine from you later."
Zhang Yuan nodded, and the people outside the door, hearing that they were about to finish, quietly ran away.
Jiang Jin bought some pastries, hair ties, and hair clips in town, intending to give them to Chen Shengnan tomorrow.
I also brought two bottles of soda for Jiang Lan, and then I went back.
When he got home, he gave the soda to Jiang Lan and then tidied up the rest of his things in the room.
The next day, when Jiang Jin went to Chen Shengnan's house again, Jiang Lan did not stop him.
He brought more things this time, and when he arrived, Chen Shengnan's family was having breakfast.
When Chen Shengnan saw him arrive, she smiled and said, "Brother Jiang Jin, have you had breakfast?"
Jiang Jin nodded and said, "I've already eaten. You guys eat first, I'll wait over there."
Chen Shengnan put the things in his hands aside, then went to the kitchen to serve him a bowl of porridge and handed him a pair of chopsticks.
"Eat some more."
Chen's parents really didn't understand how their usually straightforward daughter could suddenly become so attentive and obsequious to Jiang Jin.
When her brother-in-law and sister come over, she's practically blind.
Forget about helping someone get chopsticks; even if your stomach is growling loudly in front of her, she won't utter a sound.
They either don't say anything, or when they do, it's something like, "Oh, so you're here to freeload at our house."
It's better not to say anything.
But look at her now, it's not that she doesn't understand, it's just that the person wasn't putting in the effort.
Jin took the bowl and ate another bowl of porridge. After finishing the meal, Chen Shengnan asked, "So, did Uncle and Aunt agree to separate the family property?"
Chen shook his head vigorously. His parents, who had been watching him intently, became somewhat angry when they saw him shake his head and said, "If you haven't convinced your parents, then what are you doing here?"
Jiang Jin looked at Chen Shengnan and said, "Although we can't separate the family, I've come up with a good idea."
Chen Shengnan asked, "Tell me about it."
"We'll settle down near your school in the future, and you can find a job there too. Or, if you prefer a certain city, we can settle there and come back during holidays. If you don't want to stay with me then, you can stay with your uncle and aunt."
Chen Shengnan thought this was indeed a good idea; her home would be wherever she worked. She could come back to visit during holidays and send money to her parents regularly.
She looked at her parents. She had always known that her parents wanted to keep her at home. She wondered if they would be willing if she rarely came back in the future.
She tentatively asked, "Mom and Dad, what do you think?"
Although Mr. and Mrs. Chen wanted their child to be by their side, they owed Sheng Nan too much in the first half of their lives.
They hope to live the rest of their lives according to their own wishes. As long as she is happy and comes back to visit them occasionally, it doesn't really matter to them where she is.
Mr. Chen smiled and said, "What you said is indeed feasible, and I have no objection. But I want to ask you, what if your parents say they want to live with you and move in after your family has just settled down? Would you agree?"
To be honest, Jiang Jin had never thought about this question. Subconsciously, he thought his parents wouldn't come because old people believe in returning to their roots.
However, Chen Shengnan's father's words were not without reason; if they really came, he certainly wouldn't refuse.
After all, they are his biological parents. They raised him, so it is only right that he should take care of them in their old age.
Seeing Jiang Jin's dilemma, Chen Shengnan looked at her parents and said, "If that's really the case, we definitely have to bring them over! After all, they are Jiang Jin's biological parents, and it's our duty to take care of them. If you want to come over, that's fine too. I can just buy a bigger house then. Everyone can live there, and it will be more lively."
