"I'll say it again, I won't take your things."
After saying that, Su Li ignored him and turned to leave.
Ishihara had finally managed to see her once, and he was a little reluctant to part with her; his mind hadn't quite processed it yet.
She had already grabbed his arm: "Su Li, let's have dinner together!"
Su Li pulled her hand away from his and said, "No need, I've already eaten."
What else was Ishihara going to say? Su Li didn't want to listen anymore.
She quickly got on her bicycle and rode away. Ishihara watched her retreating figure, feeling a sense of loss.
When Su Li got on the oxcart early the next morning, almost everyone in the village had arrived.
We brought her a lot of things, but she just wanted to travel light by train.
There are eggs, an old hen, fish, nuts, vegetables, and other things.
She really didn't want to take it.
The villagers basically brought the best things from their homes.
She wanted to return it, but the brigade leader stopped her; "Su Zhiqing, these are all the villagers' good wishes, you must accept them. If you have time in the future, don't forget to come back and visit us old folks."
“Yes, Su Zhiqing, we won’t feel at ease if you don’t accept it. These things aren’t worth much money, and we know you don’t need them, but please accept them.”
Finally, Su Li left Lijiatun amidst the villagers' reluctant gazes.
Before boarding the train, Su Li checked that she still had some time, so she found a secluded spot and stored everything into her spatial storage.
Only then did I take the train.
After several days by train, Su Li finally arrived in Beijing. As soon as she got off the train, she saw Gu Huanian who had come to pick her up.
She was somewhat surprised, and looking at the man in front of her with delight, she said, "Why are you here?"
She didn't tell him she was coming today! How did this man know?
Gu Huanian stepped forward to help her pick up her luggage, then took her hand. The man's expression was somewhat unpleasant.
Su Li glanced at him and said, "Why do you look so grumpy? What happened?"
Gu Huanian pulled her away from the crowd, then looked at her seriously and said, "Don't go so far alone next time."
Su Li smiled and said, "Alright, I'm back safe and sound, aren't I? Don't always have that long face."
Gu Huanian still didn't laugh, although seeing Su Li safe and sound, a huge weight was lifted from his heart.
But the scenes in his dream were so real that they almost scared him to death.
He dreamt that Su Li was in a dark cave, being entangled by a large snake.
No matter what they did, they couldn't escape and were eventually swallowed whole by the snake.
He was awakened by that dream, and as soon as he got up in the morning, he planned to go to Li Jiatun.
But then he thought, what if Su Li came back by train? So he made a phone call first.
Only then did I learn that Su Li had boarded the train back to Beijing a few days ago.
He had been waiting at the train station all day since he knew she would arrive today.
"What's wrong with you? My job sometimes requires me to go to places far away, so I can't stay in Beijing every day."
"I'll go with you wherever you go from now on. I'm worried about leaving you alone."
He dreamt that Su Li encountered a python, and when he called her today, the village headman answered the phone.
Only then did he realize that Su Li had gone missing on the mountain a few days ago.
Gu Huanian felt very regretful after hearing what the brigade leader said. He shouldn't have let Su Li go back to Lijiatun alone in the first place.
Su Li neither agreed nor refused, because she knew that Gu Huanian could not stay by her side forever.
They each have their own lives and their own jobs.
She can't rely on him entirely.
So he changed the subject, saying, "I'm tired, let's go back quickly!"
Gu Huanian took Su Li directly back to Chen Shujing's place, and Su Li did not refuse.
She misses her son too.
Chen Shujing had already prepared dinner. Seeing Gu Huanian and the others return, she smiled and said to Su Li, "You must be exhausted! Wash your hands and let's eat now."
Su Li didn't see Xiao Bao and asked with a smile, "Auntie, where's the baby?"
"Him? Your uncle took him out to play. This little guy has to go out for a walk every day now, otherwise he'll throw a tantrum."
Su Li smiled and said, "Auntie, thank you for your help these past few days. The baby will probably have to stay here for a while longer."
Chen Shujing waved her hand and said with a smile, "Why are you being so polite with us, mother and daughter? Just go and do your work. I'm confident in taking care of the child."
Su Li nodded; she had indeed been unable to take care of her child lately.
Learning is one aspect; supermarkets and factories also need to take stock of their accounts.
After having dinner at Chen Shujing's place, Su Li played with the children for a while.
She planned to go back, and Gu Huanian followed her out.
As the two were about to reach Su Li's courtyard, Gu Huanian pulled her into his arms.
"Ah Li, I miss you so much."
Su Li hugged the man's strong waist and buried her head in his chest; "I missed you too."
“Ah Li, do you know what? Last night I had a dream that you were alone in a cave and encountered a huge snake. In the dream, you kept begging me for help. I wanted to help you so badly, but I couldn’t. You don’t know how helpless I felt. It almost drove me crazy. Where will you go from now on? Can you please not be alone? I’m really worried about you.”
Su Li then realized why Gu Huanian always had a stern face whenever he saw her.
Unexpectedly, he would have such a dream, and Su Li did not mention that she had actually encountered a snake.
I was worried that after hearing this, he would become even more uneasy.
Now that her space has been restored, theoretically she won't encounter the same thing as last time.
Xie Feng was still a little puzzled.
She now suspects that Xie Feng may also have access to the space.
Su Li got out of Gu Huanian's arms and nudged him, "Alright, you should go back now! It's getting dark. I haven't been home for a while, and I don't know how Gousheng is doing."
Gu Huanian frowned when Su Li mentioned Gou Sheng.
"Gousheng probably hasn't come back yet."
Su Li asked in confusion, "What's going on? Did he go to sell clothes again?"
"I guess so! But he's just helping others sell their clothes. I've seen him helping a pair of sisters sell clothes a few times when I pass by Zhongda Street. The clothes he's selling are from your factory."
Su Li pushed Gu Huanian aside and opened her own courtyard gate.
She went inside and, sure enough, Gou Sheng was nowhere to be seen.
It seems he really did go after his wife.
"Gousheng is still young. I don't think that older sister from the Tang family is easy to talk to. You should talk to Gousheng when you have time. Studying is the most important thing right now. Don't think about useless things at such a young age."
Gu Huanian did feel that Gousheng was too small; he overheard their conversation as he passed by.
Only then did I realize that Gou Sheng didn't get any credit for helping others. Even though he put in the effort, he still got a lecture from that older woman.
He reminded her because Su Li cared a lot about this younger brother.
“Huan Nian, we don’t need to worry about the affairs of young people. I believe Gou Sheng is capable of handling it.”
