Since Gu Huanian brought her here, he couldn't possibly let her climb a tree; "You guys wait down here, stand a little further away, I'll go up and collect pine cones."
"This tree is so tall, maybe we should just forget about it!"
It's too dangerous. If something happens, she can't afford the consequences.
Chen Shengnan didn't know what kind of fruit trees these two trees were, but judging from Su Li's expression, she must really like eating them, otherwise she wouldn't have come along.
So he said, "Why don't I go up? I'm really good at climbing trees."
"You all stay down here. I'm on a mission. Climbing trees is just basic stuff for me. There's nothing to worry about," Gu Huanian said to Su Li and Chen Shengnan.
As soon as he finished speaking, he quickly climbed the tree; he wasn't lying. He climbed very fast, and it was clear he was experienced. Before long, he reached the spot with pine cones.
He called down, “Stand back a bit, I’m going to start knocking down the pine cones.”
Su Li quickly ran away, while Chen Shengnan looked at another tree.
I walked straight over and climbed up; the tree was relatively short.
Even Su Li below could reach it with her hand.
Chen Shengnan and Gu Huanian were both picking fruit from the tree, but she was doing nothing.
Knowing that it would be a while before they finished picking, she started walking around.
Surprisingly, she actually found something good.
Good heavens, look at her luck! She just wandered around and found morel mushrooms, and quite a lot of them at that.
She quickly squatted down and started picking. She picked all the morel mushrooms in the vicinity, and her basket on her back was almost half full.
Thinking that tonight, she would treat Gu Huanian and his soldiers to a special meal, making a three-delicacy soup, as a way of repaying him for climbing the tree and helping her collect pine cones.
After picking most of the morel mushrooms, they returned to the fruit trees. Gu Huanian had already climbed down and was gathering the pine cones he had thrown down. Soldiers really do work fast!
Su Li put down the basket, picked up the burlap sack on the ground, and began to pick up the pine cones.
As she walked up to Gu Huanian, she was about to thank him, but the words stuck in her throat.
She was afraid that if she spoke up, he would ask, "How are you going to thank me?"
Thinking it over, she changed the subject: "I picked some morel mushrooms over there just now. I'll make them for you guys tonight. They make a really delicious soup."
"Um"
Chen Shengnan had basically finished picking the almonds on the top, and there were still some low ones that she could reach out and touch.
She climbed down from the tree but didn't go to Su Li's side. She could clearly sense that Battalion Commander Gu treated Su Li differently, so she decided not to be the third wheel.
Su Li squatted on the ground, seeing that she had picked up almost all the leftovers. She thought she would leave these for Gu Huanian and go to Chen Shengnan's side to help her pick them up.
She was about to stand up when her calf went numb, and she fell to the ground.
Before she could even gasp in surprise, Gu Huanian pulled her into a tight embrace.
Gu Huanian felt the softness in his arms, and smelled her sweet fragrance, which made his body tense up.
He unconsciously recalled his dream from last night, in which a woman's soft, white waist swayed against him, and his breathing quickened.
He stared intently at Su Li, who was momentarily scalded by the burning flame in his eyes and quickly turned her face away.
The man's arms were bulging and strong, and he was gripping her waist tightly.
Chen Shengnan covered her face with her hands, peeking through a small gap with her fingers. These two are such a perfect match!
Seeing that the man showed no sign of letting go, Su Li quickly pushed him away, saying, "Thank you for just now, I'm fine now."
"Yes, I'll be waiting for your reward."
Su Li; "......."
From that moment on, she would never again utter the word "thank you" in front of this man.

Thinking about how she had fallen earlier, Gu Huanian assumed she had sprained her ankle.

How about we divide these nuts into three portions here, one portion for each person?
Chen Shengnan nodded; "Okay."
"No need, these still need to be cooked, and I'm not sure I can do it well. You two can divide them!"
"I'll bring you some more after I've cooked them."
A smile appeared in Gu Huanian's eyes; "Okay! Put these in my tent for now, and I'll take them back to you when you've finished making dinner."
Su Li thought that apart from being a bit stingy, this man was actually a good person.

Chen Shengnan said gratefully, "Thank you, Battalion Commander Gu."

For dinner, Su Li made a stir-fried green bean with pork, a hot and sour shredded potato dish, and a stir-fried vegetable dish, all in large portions.
She used the morel mushrooms she had picked that afternoon to make a three-ingredient soup, and fried a few eggs in oil in a hot pan until they were golden brown.
