"Gu Huanian?"
Gu Huanian turned around and saw his former good brother and comrade-in-arms.
He excitedly stepped forward and patted him on the shoulder; "Shi Yuan? What are you doing here?"
He hadn't seen Shi Yuan since that incident two years ago, when he was forced to leave the army. He never expected to meet him here.
Shi Yuan also remarked with emotion, "It's been two years since I last saw you, and you're still the same as ever."
How have you been these past two years?
Shi Yuan laughed and said, "Me? I found a job in town, and I can live like this while still taking care of my mother. It's pretty good."
Although he said it was fine, Gu Huanian could still hear the bitterness in his words.
That incident back then can't be entirely blamed on Shi Yuan; he wasn't involved in that mission.
I heard that Shi Yuan was dispatched to a port in Hainan to arrest a drug dealer, in order to avoid attracting the drug dealer's attention.
He hid in a village near the port in Hainan, where he unexpectedly became entangled with a girl.
They insisted that they had physical intimacy after Shi Yuan arrested the drug dealers.
He should have received a reward and promotion, but because of this incident, the girl made a big fuss, and his superiors demanded that he marry her.
In Gu Huanian's opinion, the higher-ups valued Shi Yuan quite a bit. As long as he was willing to humble himself and marry that girl, the matter would be over.
But Shi Yuan was determined and refused to agree no matter what, saying that he had never touched her even a hair.
Finally, in front of the girl's parents, Shi Yuan said, "You really want to marry me? I guarantee that the day your daughter marries me will be the anniversary of her death." His tone was fierce and menacing, not at all like he was lying, which terrified the girl and her family.
