Chapter 7: The Original Owner's Suffering - Let Her Tell You

Who on earth hates him so much?

When Su Li returned home, she happened to run into the police questioning residents downstairs.

As soon as she entered the house, Su Guoqiang slapped her across the face, so fast she didn't even have time to dodge; "You little brat, where have you been today? Do you know that because you ran around, our house was robbed?"

That brat, she rarely goes out, but she had to run off today. Otherwise, the house wouldn't have been burgled.

Su Li touched her slapped face and said aggrievedly, "Dad, what did you say? The house was robbed? I just went out for a walk, how could it be robbed? The door was locked when I left."

Su Li sobbed as she spoke, and the older women watching could all sense that the child had suffered a great injustice.

Aunt Wang felt a pang of sympathy and immediately spoke her mind: "You forced the child to go to the countryside. The child was in a bad mood and wanted to go out for a walk to clear her mind. This is not her fault. How can you hit her without even knowing the facts? Su Jiaojiao goes out every day, and I've never seen you say a word to her."

As soon as Aunt Wang spoke, everyone sensed some gossip again.

"Forcing Su Li to go to the countryside? Doesn't she have a job?" said Aunt Liu, standing next to Aunt Wang.

The onlookers were all long-time neighbors who knew that although Su Li had never been to school, she had gotten a job at the textile factory through her own abilities, while Su Jiaojiao, who had finished high school, couldn't find a job. She spent her days spending money recklessly and going out to play with some classmates.

The neighborhood committee has contacted her several times, asking her to go to the countryside.

Considering that Su Li was forced to go to the countryside, everyone quickly understood.

This is like using a biological daughter to replace an adopted daughter!

Aunt Wang didn't hide anything and told her everything Su Li had told her that day.

The crowd sighed again, and their gazes toward Su Guoqiang changed.

Su Guoqiang felt a little guilty under their gaze, but these people wouldn't understand that Su Li was tough and capable, and also very good at housework.

She could live a good life in the countryside, but Jiaojiao couldn't. She's so delicate; she'd be bullied to death if she went to the countryside.

Upon hearing this, Su Jiaojiao stopped pretending to be a coward and came out of the room.

Upon seeing Su Li, she suddenly had a strong feeling that she was the one who did all of this.

She looked at Su Li and said, "Sister, I know it was my fault that Dad asked you to go to the countryside in my place because I wasn't feeling well. But you can't just steal all the money in the house and destroy it!"

These words drew everyone's attention again, even the police officers who had just arrived looked at Su Li.

Su Mu, who had just finished school, overheard this and angrily rebuked Su Li, saying, "You stole money from home? You always bully Jiao Jiao, and now you're so bold as to steal money. How could I have such a shameless sister like you?"

Su Guoqiang said with exasperation, "Su Li, I don't care about anything else, just hand over my five hundred yuan and Jiao Jiao's three hundred yuan. Otherwise, I won't let you off the hook."

Su Li's eyes were red and swollen, and she was on the verge of collapse, her grievances almost overflowing.

“I didn’t take anything from home, Dad, Xiaomu, why don’t you believe me? You asked me to go to the countryside in Jiaojiao’s place, and I was just feeling a little upset. That’s why I went out for a walk. I can’t move the tables and cabinets at home by myself! Besides, I ran into Aunt Wang when I went out today.”

"That's right, Xiao Li went out today without anything in her hands, so don't talk nonsense."

The police echoed, "Don't make things up without evidence. She certainly didn't have the ability to commit the crime."

Those tables and wardrobes were not something a girl could move.

Upon being confirmed by the police, Su Li could no longer hold back her tears. She collapsed to the ground, buried her head in her legs, and began to sob loudly.

"What more do you want from me? My mother left when I was six, and my father brought home the daughter of the aunt he used to like. My younger brother had no one to take care of him, and Su Jiaojiao needed someone to look after her too. From the age of six, when I couldn't even reach the stove, I started serving you food and drink. I've been doing this for 14 years, and what have I gotten in return? Always wearing Su Jiaojiao's discarded clothes. I have chilblains on my hands that never go away in winter, and I eat the dishes you don't like. I've never tasted an egg, and I've never eaten a bite of meat."

I've finally waited for my younger brother to grow up so I can work, but I still have endless housework. Every time I get my salary, Dad takes it all to buy Su Jiaojiao new dresses and face cream. I don't get a single penny. Have you forgotten that it's my salary? I've done so much, and you still say it's all my fault.

It was my fault that Su Jiaojiao didn't come home on time. It was my fault that Su Mu got into a fight outside. It was my fault that I cooked late because I was sick. It was my fault that I didn't want to give Su Jiaojiao the only jade pendant my mother left me; it was petty of me. I don't look good wearing it, so I deserve to give it to her. It was my stinginess that I didn't want to give her my job. It was my uncouthness that I didn't want to go to the countryside for her. Yes, she is more noble than me, she is more important to you than I am. I can't keep anything from you, I accept that. I just wanted to go out and clear my head, was that wrong too?

Su Li spoke with tears of blood, recounting all the unequal treatment the original owner had received over the years.

A hidden pain in her heart, like needles, pierced her again and again.

Su Li knew that these were the last emotions left behind by the original owner, not hers.

Many of the onlookers were moved to tears after hearing these words.

If his daughter hadn't been pushed to the limit today and revealed all this, no one would have known that Su Guoqiang was such a scoundrel.

I always knew Su Li was sensible, but I never imagined she'd never even given her a piece of meat or an egg. Compared to Su Jiaojiao, one is so thin she looks unrecognizable, while the other is somewhat plump—the difference is just too great.
