The man pretended to ask casually, but in reality, his palms were sweating with nervousness. It was the first time in his life that he had expressed his feelings to someone in a letter, but he had not received a single word from her.

Gu Huanian frowned. It seemed he really needed to talk to his good brother about why he hadn't given his letter to Su Li.
He said that Su Li couldn't possibly be unmoved by his letter.
After dinner, the two decided to go to town together.
Su Li wanted to prepare some supplies for the New Year, while Gu Huanian wanted to figure out if things were as he thought.
The two of them came out of the courtyard together and took an oxcart to the town. It was a rare day that there was no snow, and several aunties and educated youth from the village went to the town to buy New Year's goods.
Seeing Su Li walking with Gu Huanian, he jokingly asked, "Su, you're dating Battalion Commander Gu now?"
