Feeding medicine
The expected death did not come. Only footsteps were heard coming from near and far, then from far and near, and then a cold voice sounded in my ears.
"Zhou Qiting, open your mouth and take your medicine."
Zhou Qiting opened her eyes slightly and saw Zhou Min half-kneeling beside the bed, leaning over and staring at her. So she said in a slightly louder voice: "I don't want to eat."
Zhou Min heard it but pretended not to. He opened the wet wipes and wiped his hands. He clamped Zhou Qiting's jaw with his left hand and forced her to open her mouth with a little force. Then he picked up the pill with his right index and middle fingers and put it into her mouth without hesitation.
“Hmm…”
She subconsciously wanted to grit her teeth to stop Zhou Min's actions, but the hand that was pinching her jaw did not relax at all, so she could only instinctively push away the fingers that invaded her mouth with her tongue.
Due to the obstruction, the pill could only be pushed in little by little. Even if her nails were polished and rounded, they still inevitably scratched the soft flesh of her upper jaw, causing physical nausea.
Moists welled up in Zhou Qiting's eyes. She weakly raised her hand to resist the hand that was controlling her, trying to turn her face away and struggle. However, her motionless left hand still held her tightly. She could only use her other hand to push Zhou Min's shoulder in vain.
When her fingertips pushed the pill to her throat, the foreign body sensation in her throat and the spreading bitterness made tears well up in the corners of her eyes. However, the finger in her mouth did not withdraw immediately. Instead, it pressed down hard, pressing down on her tongue. His left hand loosened its grip and moved to her neck, gently stroking her throat.
Aside from the finger that wasn't pulled out in time, the rest of the action was very much like feeding a pet medicine. Zhou Qiting endured the humiliation and was forced to swallow the pill.
"If you had been obedient earlier, you wouldn't have to suffer." Zhou Min withdrew his hand, not forgetting to stimulate the sick young lady with words.
The bitterness and itchiness lingering in her throat made Zhou Yiting unable to curse. She choked and coughed for a long time before she calmed down. Her face turned even redder. A hand lightly passed under her neck, supported her shoulders, and lifted her upper body from the bed. Then, a bottle of purified water was handed to her mouth.
"Drink water."
Zhou Yiting closed her eyes and took a deep breath. To prevent the man in front of her from doing anything more rude, she could only reluctantly open her mouth and sip the water. Zhou Min was also very patient. He took the bottle and fed her half a bottle of water in one sip.
After doing this, Zhou Min didn't say anything else. He put the water back on the table and left without saying a word, as if feeding her medicine was just to ensure that she would not die from the illness.
Did he really want to torture her for a long time? Perhaps it was the effect of the medicine, or perhaps her body, which hadn't eaten for two days, could no longer bear it, but Zhou Qiting's consciousness became increasingly hazy, and she fell into a coma.
"Zhou Yiting, are you in there?" A deliberately lowered voice called her softly.
Zhou Yiting suddenly opened her eyes and found that she was still in that dark and narrow room.
Apart from the rare times of water and food being passed through the crack in the door, she had no other channels to contact the outside world. Her memory was so vague that she had forgotten how many days she had been kidnapped by the kidnappers.
The palm-wide crack in the door - the only source of light in the room - was now somewhat blocked, and the sound came from there.
She was originally sitting against the wall, and when she heard the sound, she leaned over to look outside. She saw half of a skinny face against the light, not caring about the dirt, sticking to the ground. The exposed golden eyes were slightly narrowed, trying hard to make out the situation in the room.
Zhou Qiting opened his mouth, and a hoarse voice floated out from his dry throat: "I'm here."
Even the smallest sound was extremely noticeable in the quiet environment. The person outside the door stood up immediately after hearing it. Some subtle noises were then heard. She could hear it. It was the sound of the key being inserted into the lock. After inserting and removing it several times, with a slight "click", the door opened.
Light rushed into the narrow space from outside and poured onto the faces of people who had been in darkness for a long time. Zhou Qiting was blinded by the light and subconsciously closed his eyes. When he opened his eyes again, he saw a pair of dark brown pupils that looked deep and deep in the backlight.
There were too many emotions mixed in it, and she couldn't distinguish them for a moment. She only remembered that before the warm embrace covered her, the underlying color of those eyes was endless sadness.
Why?
Before Zhou Qiting could ask any questions, the man suddenly picked her up and carried her out of the elevator which was not functioning properly due to a power outage.
The air currents from her brisk steps brushed against her body, and she felt a sudden chill. Only then did she realize that the discomfort from the memory of being trapped in the elevator had caused her to break out in a cold sweat.
Yes, because of that experience in her childhood, she became afraid of small and dark spaces.
She quietly hugged the neck of the person who was hugging her, absorbing warmth and comfort at the same time.
"Zhou Min, why did you look so sad then?"
After waiting for a long time without receiving a reply, she curled her lips in self-mockery, feeling bitter in her heart. She stopped talking but hugged her arms a little tighter, wanting to keep the warmth in her dream forever.
How could she expect a false illusion to give her a true answer?
Feeling the coolness on her face again, Zhou Yiting slowly opened her eyes and her vision gradually became clear. The hand holding the wet towel in front of her froze for a moment because of her sudden awakening, and then quickly retracted.
Zhou Min stood up straight, put his hands behind his back, looked at her with a cold face, and said nothing.
Perhaps because of the warmth that continued from the dream, Zhou Yiting was unwilling to face the harsh reality and the cold face of the person in front of him. His eyelashes trembled slightly and he closed his eyes again.
It would be nice if I could just stay asleep forever.
She sadly discovered that her hatred for Zhou Min was mixed with many inexplicable emotions.
She couldn't simply hate the person who had deceived her over and over again, so she would rather immerse herself in the illusion created by lies.
Why?
Was it because of the past feelings she had once believed to be genuine? Was it because of the beautiful memories Zhou Min had deliberately fabricated for her during that time? Or was it because of the ridiculous love she had been unwilling to admit since she learned of Zhou Min's identity?
All kinds of emotions surged in his heart like waves, and the sourness of the waves hitting the shore wet his tightly closed eyes. Zhou Qiting suddenly remembered those eyes filled with sadness.
Not only had they seen it on the day of the rescue, but even earlier, in the cinema, these eyes had contained the same emotion as they looked at the robot left on the beach on the screen.
Zhou Qiting remembered the question Zhou Min asked her at that time and her answer.
——Do you have any unfulfilled wishes in your life?
——Yes, I want to ask someone for an answer.
Zhou Yiting opened her eyes, her eyes were red, she turned her head to look at the person beside the bed, and asked her again the question she had been waiting for the answer to for fifteen years.
"Zhou Min, why are you using me?"
Zhou Min was stunned when he heard this, and looked away, using half-closed eyelids to cover the emotions that might be revealed in his eyes. Instead of answering directly, he asked in a low voice: "Do you want to hear the truth or a lie?"
Hearing her say this, Zhou Qiting smiled silently, thinking that he was really sick. Why did he still hope to find the truth from the hypocrisy after waking up from the dream?
She raised her hand and quietly wiped the moisture from the corners of her eyes. She regained her usual composure and said coldly, "Forget it. Whether it's true or false, I don't want to hear it."
"I've never used you." Zhou Min suddenly spoke, leaning forward slightly and looking at Zhou Qiting again, a playful smile on his face. "Guess whether this statement is true or not?"
"Zhou Qiting, if you already have the answer to a question, there's no need to waste your breath asking it. You've never trusted me, either before or now, so why are you interrogating me?"
Never trusted you?
If it weren't for my trust, how could you have lured me out of the safe zone back then? If it weren't for my trust, how could you have safely lurked in the Zhenbang Group? If it weren't for my trust, how could you have successfully deceived me again and again?
The words of rebuttal were stuck in his chest. After a violent cough, Zhou Yiting used his arms to support his weak upper body from the bed. Then he raised his hands and grabbed Zhou Min's collar, pulling her closer to him little by little.
The sick person obviously didn't have enough strength to pull Zhou Min, but she still bent down obediently and half-knelt on the ground.
Zhou Min pursed his lips tightly and looked at the person in front of him without hesitation.
Because of the cough just now, tears welled up in Zhou Qiting's eyes again, but there was a chill in her eyes. Disdainful words squeezed out from between her lips and teeth: "How can someone like you be worthy of my trust?"
Hearing this, Zhou Min's face suddenly darkened, his eyes dimmed a bit. To prevent the corners of his mouth from drooping, he could only force a meaningless smile and said self-deprecatingly: "That's such a pity. I didn't grow up to be someone worthy of Miss Zhou's trust."
Then, she put down the dripping wet towel in her hand, picked up the still warm white porridge on the table, and handed it to Zhou Yiting.
"Miss Zhou would probably be so kind as to eat some of the porridge cooked by someone like me, right?" Without waiting for her to loosen her grip on her collar, she picked up a spoon and stirred it, then scooped up a spoonful and passed it to Zhou Qiting's mouth. She looked at the person who obviously didn't want to eat it dimly, "Do you think I'll have to feed you like taking medicine?"
The emphasis on the word "with my own hands" brought back memories of Zhou Qiting's humiliation. She held down the hand holding the spoon as if to feed her and gritted her teeth, "I'll eat it myself."
Just like that, Zhou Min held the bowl silently, and Zhou Qiting scooped the porridge silently, and a quiet and weird atmosphere flowed in the room.
After watching the young lady finish her porridge, Zhou Min didn't wait for her to fall asleep. He walked out of the room and went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
As soon as I turned off the faucet, the phone in my pocket vibrated.
Realizing who might have sent the message, she wiped her hands on her side, took out her phone, unlocked the screen and clicked on the message.
Chen Shu: "Zhou Min, you must not die."
