Holding a grudge

Holding a grudge

The car quickly stopped in the parking lot in front of the lobby of the only five-star hotel in the city.

Zhou Min turned around and looked at the person who seemed to be asleep. He wanted to wake Zhou Qiting up, but he saw that she had her eyes closed tightly, her brows furrowed, and her cheeks were a little unnaturally red.

Zhou Min realized something was wrong and put the back of his hand on her forehead, which was indeed hot.

Her heart tightened, and she turned to the driver and said, "Please take us to another place..."

The coolness on her forehead woke Zhou Qiting from her half-asleep state, and she interrupted Zhou Min who was asking the driver to change the route.

"I don't want to go to the hospital... It's good enough here, you can go back." He sat up straight, unbuckled his seat belt, and wanted to open the door to get out of the car.

Zhou Min reached out to help her put on her coat and asked worriedly, "Do you have any medicine in your hotel room?"

Seeing Zhou Qiting's silence, Zhou Min knew that she might be unsure whether her entourage was prepared, so he said, "The assistant should be able to help you prepare. Do you want to ask first?"

Zhou Qiting pushed open the car door and nodded slightly as a response, which seemed perfunctory to Zhou Min.

Although he said he would just send her downstairs, Zhou Min was still worried about the person who looked listless, so he followed Zhou Qiting all the way to the suite on the upper floor of the hotel.

This hotel is already the best in this small town. The furnishings in the suites are almost all decorated with intricate patterns, which is a superficial luxury.

In short, it is the nouveau riche aesthetic.

But Zhou Min found that the four-piece silk suit used on the bedroom bed was simple and elegant, somewhat familiar, and not quite harmonious with the overall environment.

It looked like someone had changed it specifically, which made sense. Zhou Min avoided Zhou Qiting, who was changing clothes, and asked, "Where is your assistant? Did you ask her to buy medicine?"

Zhou Qiting put on her nightgown, with the belt tied loosely around her waist, and replied casually, "After we settled down here, I gave her a few days off."

There was no sign of a bodyguard on the way up. Could it be that she lived alone? Zhou Min's brows gradually furrowed.

Zhou Min remembered what she said when she asked him to take her back to the hotel, "I didn't bring any bodyguards with me." At that time, Zhou Min thought she meant that she didn't bring any bodyguards to ambush him at his residence. Now it seems that she is very likely to be alone in this city.

It's pure nonsense.

What should she do if she encounters another daring criminal who wants to kidnap her?

Former gangster Zhou Min is now deeply worried about the safety of the young lady.

Zhou Qiting lifted the quilt, sat down on the bed with tiredness, and found a comfortable position to lean against the headboard.

Her gaze then fell on Zhou Min, who was standing quietly not far away. There was a subtle hint of dependence in her eyes, but she said, "You go back first. I want to rest."

"Zhou Qiting," Zhou Min sighed softly and confirmed helplessly, "Did you expect to get sick?"

At this point, how could Zhou Min not understand that from the moment he saw Zhou Qiting again, or even earlier, from the moment Zhou Qiting came to this small town, he had already stepped into her trap.

The cleverness of this trap lies in the fact that the person who closed the net was not Zhou Qiting, but Zhou Min himself.

If Zhou Min's heart had been a little harder, if his feelings for Zhou Qiting had faded over the past three years, things would never have turned out the way Zhou Qiting wished.

Hearing this, Zhou Qiting raised his eyebrows slightly, as if a little surprised by Zhou Min's guess, and said innocently: "If I say this is an accident, would you believe it?"

Zhou Qiting came here and originally planned to deal with other things after meeting Zhou Min. His sudden illness was indeed unexpected.

However, from the moment he felt unwell, Zhou Qiting took advantage of the situation and planned to use this accident to increase the chances of winning back Zhou Min.

Hearing Zhou Qiting answer his question with a question again, Zhou Min was a little confused about what she was thinking at the moment. He didn't say whether he believed it or not. He walked to the door angrily, opened the door and walked out without saying a word.

Zhou Qiting was not in a hurry. He leaned against the head of the bed with his eyes closed and rested, waiting patiently.

Sure enough, not long after, hurried footsteps were heard outside the door. Zhou Min pushed the door open panting and willingly returned to the trap.

Ordering room service or takeout was too slow, so Zhou Min personally ran to a nearby pharmacy to buy a thermometer and medicine.

Zhou Min came to the bedside, shook the thermometer and handed it to Zhou Qiting.

"Measure it. You need to know your exact body temperature before you know which medicine to take."

Seeing Zhou Min's cold expression and his concern for her, Zhou Qiting couldn't help but feel a little teasing. While taking her temperature, she lowered her eyes and looked at him, reminiscing: "Really... I remember that I took medicine without taking my temperature once before."

Zhou Min's throat choked, and his originally angry state instantly turned into a bit embarrassed.

Of course she knew which time Zhou Qiting was referring to, and she also knew that Zhou Qiting said it deliberately just to tease her.

Really holds a grudge.

Remembering that every time he bullied Zhou Qiting, he would be bullied back twice as much, Zhou Min wisely changed the subject to reduce the risk of being caught again. "I asked the restaurant to prepare some porridge. You can eat some to fill your stomach before taking the medicine."

Zhou Qiting looked into her eyes and asked, "What about you?"

Zhou Min looked away and promised, "I'll wait until you fall asleep before I leave."

"I mean," Zhou Qiting raised his hand and held her hand hanging at her side, "then how are you going to take care of yourself?"

"Are you tired? Are you hungry?"

Zhou Min obviously did not expect Zhou Qiting to say this, and he really had not thought about how to take care of himself. He was stunned for a moment.

Hunger, fatigue, and even coldness were just the norm in her past life. She could just endure it and it would pass. She had long been accustomed to it, but now that it was mentioned, it became difficult to ignore.

The sudden ringing of the landline woke Zhou Min from her daze. She wrinkled her sore nose, did not respond to Zhou Qiting's words, gently let go of Zhou Qiting's hand, walked over to answer the phone, then walked straight to the door, opened the door and went out, and came back with a tray in her hand.

Zhou Min placed the hot porridge and hot water on the tray on the low cabinet beside the bed, went to sit on the sofa in the room, turned his head to the side, and waited silently for the person on the bed to have his temperature taken.

Zhou Qiting didn't wait for Zhou Min's answer, nor did he continue to ask questions. He took out the thermometer, glanced at it and put it aside.

"A low-grade fever."

The tone sounded weak, and Zhou Min didn't quite believe it. He stood up and took the thermometer to confirm that there was indeed no need to take antipyretics for the time being.

While Zhou Min was checking the thermometer, Zhou Qiting took the initiative to pick up the hot porridge beside him, but after stirring it slightly, he put it down with a gloomy look and picked up a box of cold medicine instead.

Before Zhou Min could say anything about taking medicine on an empty stomach hurting the stomach, she calmly interrupted him: "I have no appetite."

After she finished speaking, she looked up at Zhou Min, who was hesitant to speak, curled the corners of her lips, and asked with interest: "Are you going to feed me again with your own hands?"

Again? Zhou Min instantly understood what Zhou Qiting was referring to. It was the same thing she had just mentioned about taking medicine without taking the temperature.

It's double the grudge.

Now Zhou Min, who was in the wrong, was completely speechless. He pursed his lips into a straight line and stared at Zhou Qiting dimly, hoping that she could understand his resentment.

"It seems a bit of a waste not to eat it..."

Zhou Qiting said this, but without stopping, he picked up the capsule and put it directly into his mouth. He took a sip of hot water, tilted his head back and swallowed it before continuing, "You will finish it well, right?"

The intention was too obvious for Zhou Min to miss. He finally couldn't help but complain, "Why are you always like this?"

Zhou Qiting blinked lazily and said slowly, "I really have no appetite."

"But you have to understand that if your consideration comes at the cost of ignoring my own feelings, I may not accept it."

"I..." Zhou Min stammered, trying to explain himself, but he couldn't say anything.

"Zhou Min, just like you care about me, I care about you too."

In less than half a day, Zhou Qiting had already expressed her feelings for Zhou Min several times. The passion in their expressions made her unable to cope and also made her timid.

How could she make Zhou Qiting lower herself to such a degree? And how could she respond to this love that she didn't deserve?

Like a yin creature suddenly illuminated by the warm sun, Zhou Min subconsciously wanted to escape from this light that made her feel ashamed, but her retreat was stopped by the hand that grabbed the corner of her clothes.

Zhou Yiting knew that she was trying to escape again. Although he couldn't pull her close, the tight grip he held on her was enough to make her afraid to move.

"I'm going to regret it now." Zhou Yiting said frankly.

Zhou Min was confused by the sudden change of topic: "What are you regretting?"

Regret...the idea of not wanting to restrict Zhou Min's freedom anymore.

Zhou Qiting discovered that when facing this person who only knew how to escape, the best way was to keep him by his side first and then slowly influence him.

However, this time, Zhou Qiting wanted to tie her down with himself.

"I just told you to go back first, but now I regret it. I want you to stay." Zhou Qiting took Zhou Min's hand. His usually warm palm felt a little cool compared to his feverish body temperature.

Zhou Qiting gently pressed her cheek against Zhou Min's palm. Her deep eyes, filled with reluctance to let go, looked up at her from bottom to top and whispered, "Stay with me, okay?"
