I owe you

I owe you

The second time she came to "Overnight Tea", Zhou Min still found it hard to get used to it. The voices and music were even louder than before, like an invisible tide that almost drowned her.

His gloved hands tugged uncomfortably at the collar covering his neck, trying in vain to alleviate his psychological discomfort through physical means.

Looking over the passing crowd, Zhou Min habitually looked for Chen Shu at the bar, but found that she was sitting outside the bar today with a half-drunk cocktail in her hand.

Just like last time, Chen Shu looked as if he had seen a ghost when he saw Zhou Min.

Chen Shu hesitated to speak, then said again: "You..."

"Okay, I get it. You want to know why I came to the bar dressed like this? Because I'm a corporate slave now. I just got off work and didn't have time to change clothes."

The sense of déjà vu was so strong that Zhou Min almost suspected that Chen Shu was an NPC, who would trigger this expression and this conversation whenever he saw him.

Chen Shu didn't care about being interrupted. He looked concerned and started talking again: "No, I want to ask, what's wrong with your neck?"

I almost forgot about this.

Thinking of this, Zhou Min felt her cheeks getting hot. She adjusted her collar awkwardly and thought for a moment. She found that no matter from which angle, she couldn't say it.

So Zhou Min said with a face full of mystery: "Alas, you don't understand."

Then, to avoid Chen Shu's further curiosity, Zhou Min immediately made small talk: "Are you taking a break today?"

She regretted it as soon as she asked the question. He was the boss and could rest if he wanted to. She didn't have to work at the bar every day.

"Yeah, I'm giving myself a long vacation." Chen Shu joked, then looked at Zhou Min with gentle eyes and continued to explain, "I just sold this place not long ago."

"Are you short of money?" Zhou Min didn't beat around the bush and asked directly.

But what good would it do to ask? She couldn't pay the money back right away. The sudden surge of guilt in her heart quickly overwhelmed Zhou Min, suffocating her.

Chen Shu saw through Zhou Min's torment and explained seriously: "It's because the business here is not very good, so I want to sell it. Besides, I really still have a lot of money, don't disbelieve it."

After saying that, he raised his left arm with the white tiger tattoo on it and showed Zhou Min the mechanical watch on his wrist that looked very valuable.

Chen Shu has been doing some gray area work such as selling intelligence, and he should have accumulated a lot of wealth in the past few years.

Zhou Min just thought that Chen Shu was showing off, but she was powerless to do anything about it so she said no more. She took out the anonymous bank card and ID card given by Zhou Qiting and handed them to Chen Shu.

"Can you help me find someone to legally transfer this money to this identity? Please do it as quickly as possible. I need it urgently."

Zhou Min added: "This money includes your commission. Please don't be polite to me, otherwise I will really feel bad."

Chen Shu took the bank card and put it away. His eyes fell on Zhou Min's slightly furrowed brows, and he asked with concern: "Did something happen at the welfare home again?"

When Zhou Min borrowed money from Chen Shu, he roughly told her what the money would be used for, so she knew that only things related to the welfare home would make Zhou Min so anxious.

Zhou Min raised his right hand and pinched his brows, trying to dispel the emotion that was exposed. He said helplessly: "Something went wrong on my end, causing the money I deposited to be frozen."

Chen Shu's eyes flickered slightly, and he immediately asked with concern: "Are you in trouble? Tell me about it, and I will do my best to help you."

Before Zhou Min could say anything to refuse, she was interrupted by the vibration of her cell phone in her bag. She picked it up and took a look. Her hands shook so much that she almost dropped the phone on the ground.

"I can handle it myself, don't worry. I have something to do, so I'll leave first." Zhou Min held the phone in his hand, waved goodbye to Chen Shu, and ran out the door quickly.

After stepping out of the door and walking to a quiet corner, where the noisy sounds had disappeared from his ears, Zhou Min carefully picked up his cell phone and answered the call from "Childish Ghost".

"Good evening." Zhou Min greeted him softly, adhering to the rule of not hitting someone who smiled at him.

"What are you doing?" The person on the other end didn't buy Zhou Min's rhetoric and asked why she was late in answering the phone.

"I'm...shopping. I want to buy a silk scarf to cover my neck." Zhou Min thought quickly and thought about his plan for work today.

She couldn't just say she was doing things a federal agent wouldn't do, could she?

"Yeah." The person on the other end didn't ask any more questions. He simply responded and hung up the phone.

Should I have gotten away with it? Zhou Min broke into a cold sweat and walked out of the alley without stopping.

"Zhou Min."

Chen Shu, who hurried out of the bar, called her from behind.

Seeing Zhou Min stop, before she turned around, he continued: "If you need any help, you can come to me. I really have money, and I really want to help you."

"Without you, I wouldn't be able to live the free life I have now. You could say that my life is all thanks to you..."

"I did those things for myself, not for you. You don't have to think that way." Zhou Min turned around and interrupted Chen Shu's subsequent emotional speech.

"But I really owe you a lot, more than just this life." Chen Shu spoke sincerely to Zhou Min's eyes, which were stained inky black in the dim light.

It's Tian Gang. Zhou Min, embarrassed by what he said, had to emphasize again: "I owe you. You lent me such a large sum of money without asking for anything. I am really grateful to you."

"Everyone in the organization is unforgivable. Getting rid of them is just a matter of convenience." Zhou Min deliberately made it sound irrelevant because she really didn't want to recall more details about that period.

This is also the reason why she has not met Chen Shu often since then. There are many fulcrums to pry open memories, and Chen Shu is the easiest one.

"But……"

To prevent Chen Shu from saying anything about whether he owed money or not, Zhou Min shamelessly joked, "But since you said you have money, don't blame me for grabbing it when I catch you alone."

"I'll definitely look for you next time if I need anything." Zhou Min waved and turned around.

-

As the saying goes, every failure makes you wiser.

Inside the community, Zhou Min stopped every few steps, looking around suspiciously, and it took him more than ten minutes to walk the two-minute distance from the community gate to the downstairs of his home.

After confirming that there were no bodyguards lying in ambush, Zhou Min felt a little relieved.

Zhou Qiting called me tonight. Did he just want to know what I was doing?

Wow, I'm so flattered, Zhou Min thought expressionlessly.

Full of doubts, she opened the iron gate downstairs, tiptoed upstairs, and spent a lot of time sniffing carefully along the way to see if there was any familiar fragrance escaping.

No.

But when Zhou Min arrived at the door, she found that the doorknob had been turned again. This time, she remembered and did not open the door rashly or make any noise. She walked downstairs quietly to avoid alerting the enemy.

She went back downstairs and pushed open the iron door.

Good news, there are no bodyguards outside the door.

Bad news, standing outside the door was the eldest lady who was considered extremely dangerous by Zhou Min.

If it was a bodyguard, Zhou Min could still fight her way out, but for the person in front of her, she really had no way to deal with him.

"You're going out again right after you got home?" Zhou Qiting stood outside the door, smiled sweetly and beckoned Zhou Min to come over.

In this situation, the more he said, the more mistakes he would make, so Zhou Min had no choice but to obey the order and walk forward, feeling hopeless.

She couldn't believe she had been fooled by Zhou Qiting again. It was like she was falling for one setback after another.

"Tell me first, why did you lie to me?" Zhou Qiting still had a smile that made people feel like they were in the spring breeze, but what he said made Zhou Min feel like he was falling into an icy cave.

"You sent someone to follow me?" Zhou Min decided to make a last-ditch effort and asked boldly, trying to turn the tables.

Zhou Qiting didn't reply. Instead, he raised his hand and pulled down Zhou Min's collar. Seeing that the rose gold choker that was close to his neck was properly worn, his mood improved slightly. He met Zhou Min's gaze and said softly, "It was your reaction that told me this time."

"I won't send anyone to follow you. After all, Miss Agent also needs her own private space, right?"

Seeing Zhou Qiting unzipping her collar, Zhou Min was inwardly glad that he had prepared in advance and put on his clothes before going out today, just in case Miss Zhou came uninvited at any time.

Now that his lie had been exposed, Zhou Min had no choice but to explain sincerely: "I didn't mean to lie to you. What I did tonight was confidential and it's really not convenient to disclose it."

But it's too inconvenient. Zhou Min thought, since she said so, it's reasonable for the eldest lady to let her go, right?

Zhou Qiting didn't say anything. She pinched the petal-shaped pendant hanging around Zhou Min's neck with her slender fingers and pulled it, signaling her to follow her.

Fortunately, there are few people in the old neighborhood at night, otherwise it would be so embarrassing.

Zhou Min, who was already in the wrong, naturally didn't dare to resist. He was pulled by the force that could easily break free, and was led to the entrance of the community and got into Zhou Qiting's car.

Sure enough, I still have to work overtime today. Zhou Min sat in the back seat with a bitter face, but his hand automatically and consciously held Zhou Qiting's hand, acting as a human hand warmer.

Pleased by Zhou Min's initiative, Zhou Qiting gently scratched her palm with his fingers and said slowly: "I didn't plan to come to see you today."

A bad premonition arose in Zhou Min, and he looked at Zhou Qiting's curvy profile in surprise.

Noticing Zhou Min's gaze, she turned her head. The shadows cast by her thick eyelashes covered her pupils, adding a bit of elusive meaning to the faint smile on her face.

"I don't like being deceived, so...are you ready to accept the punishment?"
