Special Move

Special Move

The unexpected and frank words of longing that were spoken out made Zhou Min confused. He was unable to respond for a moment and his feet froze in place.

The cold touch was transmitted to the heart along the hooked little finger, like a needle prick, bringing the most unbearable pain with the smallest wound.

Zhou Min looked down at Zhou Qiting's hand holding hers, which was as slender and pale as ever. From an angle where Zhou Qiting couldn't see, her eyelashes trembled.

She didn't know why Zhou Yiting came to this small town, suddenly appeared in front of her, and told her that he missed her.

She didn't dare to think deeply about the possible reasons behind it and could only give a stingy response in an indifferent tone.

"Um."

She suppressed the emotions surging in her heart, pulled her hand back, took a few steps forward, and directly opened the useless security door of the resident's self-built house in front of her, and hurried downstairs.

The voice-activated light lit up a little late, and behind him, light footsteps followed. Zhou Min paused, and the footsteps also stopped abruptly.

She gritted her teeth, but before she could utter a warning, she heard almost pleading words behind her.

"...Can you please stop hiding from me?" Zhou Yiting's voice trembled a little, perhaps because of the cold or because of his forbearance.

His heart was trapped in his chest, aching repeatedly. After a moment of silence, Zhou Min turned his head with a cold look in his eyes.

"I..." With just one glance, she saw the pitiful look on Zhou Qiting's cold face, which was so fragile that it seemed like it would break at the slightest touch.

But she still hardened her heart and did not take back the words that drew a clear line between the two of them: "You and I have nothing to do with each other anymore, please don't bother me anymore."

"What about what you promised me?" Zhou Qiting stepped down the stairs to get closer to me. "You clearly said..."

"I'm not your dog anymore." Zhou Min interrupted her coldly.

Therefore, any promise that a dog will never leave its owner is no longer valid.

"That's not what I meant."

Zhou Qiting stopped on the step above Zhou Min. The suddenly close distance made Zhou Min want to step back, but his steps froze because of the hand on his cheek.

"Zhou Min, it has nothing to do with your status. I just can't live without you."

There was a cold palm on his cheek and a burning gaze in front of him. Zhou Min looked indifferent, but his heart was beating wildly under his ribs.

She looked away and said calmly, "So? Because you miss me, because you can't leave me, I should come back to you?"

After saying that, she wanted to brush away Zhou Yiting's hand on her cheek, but the other party took the opportunity to hold her wrist.

"It's also because I like you." Zhou Qiting continued to walk down another step, slowly approaching Zhou Min, and at eye level, he revealed the feelings that he had been unable to express due to his pride. "I liked you three years ago, and I still like you now."

Zhou Qiting stared at Zhou Min intently, noticing her panicked expression. However, she didn't dare to assume that she harbored the same feelings for him. She asked softly, "What about you? Do you still like me?"

The sudden confession, the bodies pressed against each other, the familiar breath with body temperature, if only one of them was taken, Zhou Min could still resist it with her reason, but now the three combined together directly overloaded her brain. She subconsciously shook off Zhou Qiting's hand and turned to flee towards her residence.

She fumbled for the key from her coat pocket, opened the door and hid inside. At the moment when the door was about to close, she saw Zhou Yiting's hand quietly reaching into the crack of the door and barely holding on to the door frame.

Zhou Min's heart suddenly sank, and he barely managed to stop the force of closing the door, and the door panel stopped just a few millimeters away from the hand.

This reckless behavior annoyed Zhou Min. She opened the door and said anxiously: "You——"

But as soon as he saw the other person's expression, the scolding got stuck in his throat.

There was no panic in Zhou Yiting's eyes as if she had almost been pinched. Instead, there was a calmness of understanding, as if he had already expected that she would stop in time.

——It seems that he also calculated the timing of breaking in.

Taking advantage of Zhou Min's moment of daze, Zhou Qiting slightly turned sideways, stepped completely into the room, and closed the door with his backhand.

Zhou Min reacted, his nose instantly sore, and he asked helplessly: "Zhou Qiting, why have you always been so fearless?"

The faint scent of perfume in the air made Zhou Qiting's calm expression relax a little, and he did not answer Zhou Min's question for a moment.

Noticing the subtle changes in her expression, how could Zhou Min not understand that she had discovered his unspeakable concerns?

Zhou Min knew he had been seen through completely, so his shoulders slumped a little and he weakly stated the answer to her question.

"Because you've always known how I feel about you, right?"

"That's why you always disregard your body in front of me." Zhou Min's fingertips touched Zhou Qiting's hand that had just been holding the door frame. Even now, the hand was still cold. "So that I have to show my care for you."

Zhou Min held her hand, his palm against the back of her hand, his thumb caressing her knuckles, gently kneading her knuckles that were a little stiff from the cold. He took a deep breath and sighed out his inner sorrow: "You always succeed."

Tears welled up in his eyes, which had been dry for three years, again. Zhou Min turned his face away, not wanting to reveal his vulnerability in front of Zhou Qiting.

"I'm sorry." Zhou Qiting apologized softly, but it was clear that she didn't want to repent. "But if I don't do this, you will always avoid me."

"He might even try to find a chance to escape from me, just like he did before."

The firm tone and exact facts left Zhou Min with no rebuttal. He moved his throat a few times, calmed down his emotions, and after making sure he wasn't choking, he said, "Zhou Qiting, why bother?"

"You already have so much, why would you go to such lengths for someone as insignificant as me?"

"negligible?"

Zhou Qiting frowned and used the hand that was not held to straighten Zhou Min's face and make her look at him.

"Zhou Min, you have never been an insignificant person. You have always been the only one in my heart that cannot be replaced."

"I'm not..." Zhou Min stammered, but under Zhou Qiting's unquestionable gaze, he couldn't utter any more self-denial words.

Her vocal cords trembled slightly as she uttered the words, whispering as if asking herself: "Why me?"

Or, why me?

How can someone as filthy as mud like me be your only one?

His broken heart could not bear the overwhelming bitterness for a moment. Zhou Min closed his eyes in pain and dared not look at Zhou Qiting again.

Zhou Qiting looked at Zhou Min's self-deprecating look, and her heart ached. She moved her hand from Zhou Min's hot cheek, supported the back of her neck, gently held her in her arms, and hugged her tighter little by little, whispering in her ear how good she was to her.

"Zhou Min, not only did you tolerate my willfulness in the past, but you even risked your life to rescue me from the kidnappers. When we both fell into a trap, you insisted that I escape first... You have always been a kind and brave person."

"Later...even though you suffered so much because of me, you never really hurt me...Even if I treated you badly afterwards, you never resented me..."

"I will never meet anyone better than you."

"It can only be you, and only you."

Zhou Min was unable to utter a single word for a long time. In the quiet room, only her disordered and suppressed breathing revealed her complicated emotions at the moment. Zhou Qiting gently stroked her back, letting her slowly digest what he had just said.

Until the moisture on the shoulders turned cold in the cold room temperature, slowly seeped into the clothes, and was keenly sensed by the skin.

Zhou Qiting still held tightly to the person he had lost and found again, feeling their body temperatures gradually blending together. His eyes slowly swept across the simple furnishings in the room, stopping at the thin quilt on the folding bed.

The hand she was holding had warmed up. She slipped her five fingers into Zhou Min's and clasped them together, whispering helplessly, "You said I don't care about my own body, what about you?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Zhou Yiting noticed that the body in his arms tensed unnaturally for a moment.

Being in the same room, Zhou Min realized where Zhou Qiting's gaze was, and naturally wondered why Zhou Qiting suddenly asked her back.

Her emotions were still reeling from Zhou Qiting's heartfelt words, and she didn't bother to distance herself from him. She answered the question hesitantly, "I, I'm used to it..."

Zhou Qiting sighed silently, stepped back a little, took out a handkerchief from the inside pocket of his windbreaker, held up Zhou Min's face, and helped wipe away the remaining tears on her face.

Zhou Min was slightly startled by the soft touch of body temperature on his cheek, and let his tears be gently wiped away.

Through his tearful eyes, Zhou Min saw pity in Zhou Qiting's eyes.

“It’s not a habit, but a feeling that I’m unimportant.”

Zhou Qiting looked back at Zhou Min deeply and continued in a low voice: "You feel that your body is unimportant, so you live here like this, not knowing the cold."

"Likewise, you still think your feelings are unimportant, so you won't tell me what you've been through."

"Am I right?"

"No..." Zhou Min didn't want to be told what he had been thinking, so he subconsciously retorted, "That's not the case. I just..."

Zhou Min had never imagined her current situation and didn't know what to do for a moment. The words on her lips always remained unspoken. After a few attempts, she gave up arguing, pursed her lips, lowered her head and didn't look at Zhou Yiting, ready to use silence to deal with all possible situations that might follow.

Seeing that she was so stubborn and helpless again, Zhou Qiting didn't intend to give her any room to escape.

Zhou Qiting put away the handkerchief, moved the hand that was holding Zhou Min's cheek down a little, rubbed the corner of her lips with the tip of his finger, and said: "I will stay here today."
