The third floor of the Qingcheng Sect's Sutra Library is quiet and silent, as if isolated from the world.
Su Rui sat before the Wordless Heavenly Book Monument, motionless as a statue. A thatched cushion from the Langya Immortal Palace rested beneath his buttocks, emitting a tranquil sandalwood fragrance. In his hand, he clutched a silver-white sword, gleaming with a cold light, as if imbued with an endless sharpness.
Behind Su Rui, on both sides stood two guardian statues.
On the left was a tall and mighty bronze, heavily armored automaton, clad in thick armor and emitting a cold metallic sheen. On the right was a wooden warrior fashioned from a peach pit, lifelike and remarkably lifelike. These two guardians, like loyal guards, silently protected Su Rui.
Not long ago, Su Rui, using his Sky Peng Dharma Image, successfully slew the ferocious Tiger God and subdued its divine body. As the victor, Su Rui obtained the invaluable Seal of the Mountain God. However, the territory corresponding to this Seal lies southeast of Western Tang, within the ancient and mysterious Nanling Mountains.
Since ancient times, the Nanling region has been known as the land of the Southern Barbarians. The barbarians here were relatively uncivilized, and they were devoted to primitive religious rituals such as blood sacrifice. Perhaps it was precisely this unique cultural background that coincided with the encounter of a ferocious tiger god, ultimately giving rise to such a bloody and cruel god who delighted in devouring the hearts and livers of young children!
Since it was an evil deity, the Nanling Mountain Seal it possessed naturally lacked any merit, instead being tainted with karma. Upon obtaining the seal, Su Rui unhesitatingly sealed it with his own true energy and casually tossed it into the space within the copper ring, paying no further attention to it. As for the Tiger God's body, Su Rui preserved it within the Jiuyi Cauldron, allowing it to be constantly washed and strangled by the innate primordial fetus until its spirit completely dissipated, transforming into a ball of pure dark golden divine power.
Su Rui obeyed Heaven's will and eliminated the evil spirit, undoubtedly a meritorious deed, and thus merit naturally descended upon him. However, this merit was seized by Xiaotu, who used it to repair the cracks in the Dragon Chart Bagua. As the Dragon Chart Bagua continued to be repaired, Xiaotu's deductive abilities further improved. Thus, Xiaotu quickly and successfully deduced two foundation-building plans based on Su Rui's ideas.
This is why Su Rui went to the third floor of the Sutra Library—he was ready to start building his foundation!
There are two main approaches to Su Rui's foundation building:
The first is the pure Taoist path. This method relies entirely on Taoist exercises, Taoist formations, Taoist spells, and flying sword techniques to build the foundation, and finally condenses a pure and flawless Taoist golden elixir in the dantian.
The second approach was more complex, requiring the fusion of Su Rui's previous Taoist cultivation, the power of his demonic body's bloodline, his magic skills, and the Buddhist Golden Body's techniques to create a Hunyuan Golden Pill. However, through deduction from the small diagram, it was discovered that while the second foundation-building approach combined the power of the four schools of magic, Taoism, demonism, and Buddhism, and theoretically could potentially condense the most powerful, top-grade Hunyuan Golden Pill, due to the significant differences between the various schools' approaches, if the subsequent Dancheng and Infant stages were not handled properly, a monstrous creature with no apparent connection between the two could very well be born!
Therefore, after careful consideration, Su Rui ultimately decided on the first option: to condense a pure Taoist golden elixir. Although the remaining demonic bloodline power, magic skills, and Buddhist golden body techniques could not be integrated into the golden elixir, this would not affect his continued practice and application of these techniques. It would simply require him to devote a little more effort and time to this process.
In reality, he had long adhered to the Daoist spirit as his primary focus. As for acquiring and cultivating demonic bodies, demonic skills, and Buddhist techniques, these were merely whimsical pursuits. If forced to choose a single path among numerous, Su Rui would unhesitatingly discard all other cultivation methods. In his eyes, these were merely insignificant details; the true Daoist orthodoxy was the true essence.
However, having already decided to embark on the pure Taoist path of foundation building, why did Su Rui still hesitate to take action? The reason was that he planned to improve his swordsmanship to a higher level before officially building his foundation!
As for why he didn't use the Thunder Scale, it was because, while incredibly powerful, it was, after all, a legacy left by a senior immortal. It already possessed intelligence, and its killing methods were already fixed, making it difficult to control at will. Therefore, even after re-refining it, he still chose to let the Thunder Scale kill the enemy on its own.
He had also forged the Nine-Child Mother Yin Demon Sword, a sword that had expended immense effort to create. Unfortunately, during a fierce battle with the White Bone God and the Five Ghost Heavenly Kings in the Yin Well of the Black Sand Island in the South China Sea, he had to use this sword to defend against the Five Ghost Heavenly Kings' terrifying golden flames. Since then, the sword has been missing, and it's unknown whether it was destroyed in the fierce battle or taken away by the Five Ghost Heavenly Kings through some mysterious means.
The two swords he used with ease, the Purple Swan and the Blue Luan, had long been taken away by the Kunlun boy Minglang in a sword box. Therefore, if he wanted to practice swordsmanship, he could only rely on the sword pill he got from the Langya Immortal Mansion.
In fact, the quality of this sword pill is quite excellent, but because it has not been refined, its power cannot be fully demonstrated for the time being.
However, after Su Rui's meticulous refining, the originally silver-white sword ball underwent a miraculous transformation. It began to emit a cool, sharp aura, like a small, delicate, cold moon hanging high in the sky.
