Chapter 37
◎“Who else has ever complimented your beauty?”◎
Cheng Jiamo was certainly afraid. She was afraid that He Qingzhao would control her too much and take away even her most basic personal freedom. But she couldn't say she was afraid in front of He Qingzhao, because it would make him angry.
"I'm not afraid." She hugged He Qingzhao's neck and acted coquettishly, "You're my boyfriend, why should I be afraid of you?"
He Qingzhao was very pleased and kissed her fair neck, saying in a doting tone, "So good."
Cheng Jiamo lowered her head and snuggled into his arms: "On the condition that you can't yell at me or hit me. If you yell at me or hit me, I'll definitely be very scared."
He Qingzhao chuckled: "I never hit women, especially since you're my girlfriend. How could I bear to hit you or yell at you? I'm too busy spoiling you."
Cheng Jiamo took his hand and looked at his watch. It was almost noon, and it was lunchtime again.
"It's all your fault," she complained in a coquettish voice. "I only needed to do one set of questions this morning, but you forced me to do two, and you made me do them like that, so I didn't have time to rest."
He Qingzhao: "I'm doing this for your own good, to help you build up your resilience. Besides, do you think I'm making you uncomfortable by serving you?"
Cheng Jiamo didn't speak, but pinched his chest with her lips.
He Qingzhao laughed out loud: "It seems my darling is very comfortable."
Cheng Jiamo blushed deeply and quickly changed the subject: "What are we having for lunch?"
He Qingzhao asked her in return, "What would you like to eat, baby?"
Just as Cheng Jiamo was about to speak, He Qingzhao's phone rang. It was Zhong Qi calling.
He had one arm around Cheng Jiamo and the other hand was on his phone answering a call.
He Qingzhao said impatiently, "Speak."
Zhong Qi chuckled and said, "The weather is nice today, clear and crisp autumn air. Lord Huo wants to hold a hunting event at the farm again, but this time it's not for outsiders, just a few of us brothers playing by ourselves. After the hunt, we'll have a barbecue at the farm, and then a bonfire party in the evening with roasted whole lamb. Do you want to come?"
He Qingzhao replied indifferently, "I'm busy."
Zhong Qi seemed to guess what he was doing and chuckled, "You can bring Momo over; they've all brought women anyway."
Before He Qingzhao could refuse, Zhong Qi quickly added, "Momo is still a college student, at an age where she likes to have fun. You want to live a quiet and austere life like a monk, but that young girl might not be willing to follow the rules with you. Don't restrict her; if you keep doing that, she'll definitely get annoyed with you. Besides, we're going hunting and barbecuing ourselves today; it'll be so much fun!"
If he had used "brotherly love" as an example, He Qingzhao might not have agreed. However, when she brought up Cheng Jiamo, He Qingzhao wavered.
He Qingzhao relayed Zhong Qi's words to Cheng Jiamo and asked her, "Do you want to go?"
Cheng Jiamo asked in surprise, "Farm hunting?"
That sounds so exciting!
He Qingzhao smiled faintly: "Lord Huo has a large farm in the suburbs of Beijing. He often holds hunting activities on the farm. It's just for entertainment. He sets aside a competition area on his farm, puts up a fence, and puts some artificially bred animals inside, such as cattle, sheep, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. Anyone can participate, as long as they register and pay the fee."
Cheng Jiamo's eyes lit up with interest, and she asked with a smile, "Does signing up mean I can go to the farm to shoot animals?"
He Qingzhao laughed: "Of course not. There are three rounds of the competition. The first and second rounds are shooting at targets at the shooting range. The rules for each round are different. Only after passing two consecutive rounds can you enter the farm to participate in the hunt, which means shooting those animals."
Cheng Jiamo excitedly grabbed He Qingzhao's hand: "Can you shoot?"
He Qingzhao raised an eyebrow: "I know a little."
Cheng Jiamo was very excited: "I want to go!"
He Qingzhao chuckled and pinched her little nose: "Okay, but we need to take a shower first, and get clean before we go out." He gently bit her earlobe and whispered in her ear, "I don't want other men to smell your scent."
Cheng Jiamo pushed his hand away in embarrassment and anger: "How dare you say that!"
If he hadn't done that, she wouldn't have had that smell.
He Qingzhao carried her to the bathroom and closed the door behind him.
Startled, Cheng Jiamo hurriedly pushed him away, saying, "I'll wash myself. You can leave."
He Qingzhao hugged her from behind and led her forward, saying, "Let's shower together."
After washing up, Cheng Jiamo's hands were so sore that she was shaking as she put on her clothes, and there was a large red patch between her legs.
-
He Qingzhao was worried that Cheng Jiamo would be hungry, so before leaving, he had someone bring her a bowl of abalone porridge and four shrimp dumplings to tide her over.
Cheng Jiamo stirred the porridge in her bowl and asked, "Aren't you going to eat?"
He Qingzhao shook his head, looking completely uninterested.
Cheng Jiamo lowered her head and quietly finished her bowl of porridge. She only ate one shrimp dumpling; it wasn't that she couldn't finish the other three, but that she didn't want to eat too much.
"I'm not eating anymore." She put down her chopsticks, wiped her mouth, and looked on with anticipation. "I want to save room for barbecue at the farm."
He Qingzhao smiled and affectionately pinched her nose: "Little glutton."
Cheng Jiamo shook her head: "I'm not craving it, I just find it very novel."
He Qingzhao didn't call a driver and drove himself.
Music was playing in the car on the way to the suburbs.
Looking at the blue sky and basking in the warm sunshine, Cheng Jiamo leaned back comfortably in her chair, squinting her eyes like a lazy kitten, and hummed along with the music.
He Qingzhao chuckled gently as he listened to her sweet and soft voice.
Cheng Jiamo turned her head to look at him. The autumn sun shone on him, making his jawline appear even more sharp and smooth, and his facial features more profound. Normally, when he wasn't smiling, his profound features paired with his sharp phoenix eyes would make him look very aloof and fierce. However, he was smiling at this moment, his phoenix eyes slightly narrowed, adding a touch of gentleness, and his whole demeanor became refined and elegant, like a noble young master with a gentle breeze and bright moon.
Cheng Jiamo's heart pounded as she looked at it; it was the feeling of being smitten. She froze for a moment, then hurriedly lowered her eyes.
After getting out of the car, Cheng Jiamo was overjoyed to see the vast grassland stretching as far as the eye could see, with cattle and sheep running on it. Her face was beaming with happiness as she looked up at He Qingzhao with tender eyes.
He Qingzhao's heart softened at her gaze, and he took her hand and walked over.
Zhong Qi waved to him from afar: "Old He, over here!"
Following closely behind, several familiar faces emerged from a two-story building resembling a villa; they were all people who had dined with each other that evening.
Besides them, there were some new faces, as well as several pretty girls who looked to be in their early twenties, all with fair skin, beautiful faces, and long legs.
Zhong Qi glanced at Cheng Jiamo, smiled, and nodded at her as a greeting.
He turned to He Qingzhao and said, "See? I didn't lie to you. Apart from me, the Marquis and the others all brought women with them."
He Qingzhao raised an eyebrow: "You don't even have a girlfriend, and you're so proud of that?"
Zhong Qi chuckled and joked, "The main problem is that I don't have the same luck with women as Young Master He. I can't find a girl as pretty as Momo."
Cheng Jiamo smiled shyly as she was praised.
However, He Qingzhao's face turned cold, and the faint smile that had been there disappeared completely. He glanced sharply at Zhong Qi, then pulled Cheng Jiamo forward quickly.
Zhong Qi: "..."
Did he flatter the wrong person?
After walking quite a distance, Cheng Jiamo finally spoke: "What's wrong with you?"
He Qingzhao looked at Cheng Jiamo with a half-smile: "He complimented you on your beauty, and you're happy about it?"
Cheng Jiamo: "..."
He Qingzhao pinched her fair cheek: "I really regret bringing you out."
Cheng Jiamo: "..."
He Qingzhao ran his thumb across her moist, red lips: "Who else has ever complimented you on your beauty?"
[Author's Note]
