Chapter 49 Port Terminal
The departure date is scheduled for three days later.
In the next three days, Lin Xiyue and her three companions - Gu Qinghan, Ji Yuan and Du Luoqing, embarked on a journey full of unknowns and challenges.
Their first stop was the Yucheng Port Terminal, not far from the island base. Since the terminal was relatively close to the island, Lin Xiyue secretly thought that if she could bring back some supplies for the children in advance, they would have a warm and abundant Winter Solstice Festival.
Time flies. Nearly two years have passed since the outbreak of the apocalyptic zombie virus. In these two years, the world has undergone earth-shaking changes, and people's lives have been completely turned upside down.
However, Lin Xiyue and her companions were not defeated by the difficulties. They chose to move forward bravely and never retreat.
Unlike previous missions, this time only the four of them were involved, and no one else from the island base was brought along. This decision was made, on the one hand, because of the mission's uniqueness and danger, and on the other hand, to avoid unnecessary risks to the base.
Lin Xiyue, dressed in a gray two-piece overalls, looked exceptionally capable today. She wore a brown belt around her waist and a pair of black military-style Martins, looking dashing. Her cascading hair, tied into a playful bun with a simple rubber band, revealed her fair neck and added a touch of youthful energy.
At this moment, Lin Xiyue was driving a motorboat, carrying Gu Qinghan towards the land. Gu Qinghan was dressed exactly like her, also wearing a gray two-piece overalls and black military Martin boots. The two of them looked like a perfect match.
Not far behind them, a similar motorboat sped by, piloted by none other than Ji Yuan. Also aboard her motorboat was her beloved Du Luoqing. The couple's attire was perfectly coordinated today, both wearing matching gray workwear and matching black military boots, like a pair of carefully coordinated couples.
As the motorboat approached the shore, Lin Xiyue quickly jumped off and, without hesitation, jumped into a flashy black SUV. This vehicle was not only stylish but also powerful, clearly having been meticulously modified. Lin Xiyue expertly piloted the SUV and led her companions toward the Yucheng Port terminal, where they aimed to search for useful supplies.
Along the way, Lin Xiyue fully utilized her driving skills and familiarity with the road conditions. She cleverly utilized her clairvoyance to avoid the zombie swarms marked by red dots. However, she occasionally encountered solitary zombies. Undeterred by these solitary zombies, Lin Xiyue decisively stepped on the accelerator, accelerating and ramming directly into the zombies. With a resounding thud, the zombies were crushed to pieces, their disgusting rotting flesh splattering everywhere, splattering every corner of the SUV.
Gu Qinghan, who was sitting in the passenger seat, frowned upon seeing this scene and said with disgust, "This damn thing is really disgusting!" Lin Xiyue, however, smiled nonchalantly and comforted him, "Don't worry, I'll find a place to clean the car later. The port is just ahead, but there are also several waves of zombies nearby, so we have to be careful."
The SUV sped along the dusty road, the dust kicked up by its wheels like a yellow smoke, filling the air behind it. The once bustling city was now desolate, its streets deserted and its buildings dilapidated, as if forgotten by time.
The city scene gave people a strange feeling of depression and desolation, as if it had lost its vitality and energy. The buildings on both sides of the road had experienced the baptism of the end of the world, becoming riddled with holes, peeling walls, broken windows, and some even collapsed.
The car continued on its way, soon arriving at a port. This should have been a bustling cargo loading and unloading area, but now it was filled with hundreds of truck containers piled up in a chaotic manner. Some were overturned, others were blown onto each other by the wind, and even some were dented by impact, their doors still firmly shut.
Hundreds of level one and level two zombies roamed around the docks, wandering aimlessly and emitting a sickening stench of decay. Their bodies were severely decayed, their muscles atrophied, and their skin peeled off, revealing bones and pus and blood.
As Lin Xiyue and her group's vehicle approached, the zombies seemed to sense the presence of living people, as if they had smelled mealtime, and suddenly became extremely excited. They dragged their rotting bodies and ran towards Lin Xiyue and her group frantically, emitting low roars.
As the zombies ran, the rotten flesh on their bodies kept falling off and scattered on the ground, forming pools of disgusting black mixture of flesh and blood.
Faced with this sudden crisis, Gu Qinghan was not afraid after getting out of the car. She quickly released her fire ability, and two huge fireballs appeared in her palms, the blazing flames emitting a scorching temperature.
Without hesitation, Gu Qinghan hurled two massive fireballs at the dozens of zombies scurrying forward. Like meteors, the fireballs streaked through the air, striking the zombies with pinpoint accuracy. Instantly, flames shot up into the sky, and the scurrying zombies were engulfed in flames, emitting agonizing screams.
Ji Yuan took a deep breath, concentrated her mind, and mobilized her wood-elemental powers. A green light shone in her palm, and a thin vine slowly grew from it.
Ji Yuan threw the vine to the ground without hesitation. It seemed to come alive, rapidly spreading across the ground. It grew at an alarming rate, covering the entire zombie swarm in the blink of an eye.
The vines, like flexible tentacles, tightly wrapped around each zombie, holding them together. The zombies were unable to break free from the vines and could only let out low roars.
A flicker of determination flashed in Ji Yu'an's eyes. With a thought, the vines instantly became incredibly sharp. As she manipulated them, they acted like a cutting machine, mercilessly slicing the zombies into dozens of pieces.
Meanwhile, Du Luoqing stood not far away, holding a Liuhe spear, calmly observing the battlefield and waiting for the best opportunity.
When Ji Yuan's vines controlled the group of zombies, Du Luoqing stomped her feet without hesitation and released her earth-based ability.
There was a dull thud, and the flat ground suddenly began to shake violently. Like a giant beast, the earthen wall instantly transformed into countless sharp earthen spikes.
These earth spikes shot up from the ground, carrying a powerful impact, piercing straight through the bodies of a wave of zombies. The zombies were pierced by the earth spikes, and the foul black blood splattered everywhere, making the scene extremely disgusting.
Countless earth spikes ten meters high were hung with zombie corpses. From a distance, it looked like countless kites flying in the sky, which was creepy.
Lin Xiyue stood at the edge of the battlefield, watching her teammates fiercely fighting the enemy from afar. She secretly thought to herself that this time she decided not to participate in the battle, but to open a blind box.
She gripped the twin swords tightly, her gaze blazing as she walked towards one of the red shipping containers. Reaching the container, she took a deep breath, concentrated her energy, and released her ice-based powers, attaching them to the twin swords. Instantly, the twin swords were covered in a thin layer of frost, emitting a chilling aura.
Without hesitation, Lin Xiyue swung his twin swords and slashed hard at the lock handle on the red container. With a snap, the lock handle broke, and the door of the red container slowly opened, letting out a stale smell.
After the door opened, a large pile of children's clothing was revealed. These children's clothes were colorful and of various styles, but without exception, each bag was stained with yellow mud and looked a little dirty.
Lin Xiyue frowned, unsure if these clothes were still wearable. She picked up a few bags and opened them to find that the clothes inside were all brand new children's clothing styles, ranging from 3 to 16 years old.
"I roughly estimated there should be tens of thousands of children's clothes here." Lin Xiyue secretly estimated in his mind, "Although there are some yellow mud stains on the bags, these clothes should be enough for each child to have several pieces."
Thinking of this, Lin Xiyue smiled, thinking she'd gained quite a bit this time. She reached out her left hand and gently stroked the children's clothing, as if she could feel the joy and warmth of the children at the base wearing them.
