Chapter 4 Hoarding People

The next morning!

Ling Tian was awakened by a few growling sounds. He touched his still growling stomach and smiled bitterly, "Brother, bear with it. My pockets are cleaner than my face right now."

After washing up and drinking a few big gulps of boiled water, I walked towards the city center.

Yes, I am walking. I really am walking.

Ling Tian really walked to the city because he was penniless.

Ten kilometers is not long, but it is not short either. It was almost eleven o'clock when he arrived in the city. He was exhausted as a dog. He was soaked all over as if he had been fished out of the water.

"Damn it, I'm the only one who has been reborn like this."

After saying a few sad words, he walked towards a large shopping mall. The coolness inside instantly restored Ling Tian's health. He stretched comfortably and headed straight for his destination.

Soon, I came to a mobile phone store with a "High Price Recycling" sign at the door. I looked at my only property, the iPhone 16, and was so glad that I had spent all my savings to buy it. Now it can finally be used.

"Boss, are you buying or selling?"

Ling Tian didn't waste any words and directly took out his phone and placed it on the table. "Give me a price, I'll sell it if it's suitable."

"Did you use it yourself or get it from other channels?" the man asked in a low voice.

"For my own use."

"oh!"

After hearing the answer, the man's enthusiasm obviously decreased. He put on gloves, picked it up, and began to examine it in front of Ling Tian. Within a few minutes, he had a clear answer.

"Good condition, 6000."

The man didn't waste any time. After quoting a price, he waited for Ling Tian's reply.

"Only 6,000? I bought it less than a month ago."

Ling Tian was indeed not satisfied with the price. He remembered that he paid more when he bought it. What was the difference between this and a huge discount?

Noticing Ling Tian's hesitation, the man pushed his phone over and said, "Why don't you ask other stores?"

"Forget it, 6,000 is 6,000. I just want cash."

Ling Tian didn't go to compare prices in other stores. He knew that even if he went to other stores, the prices would be the same. It would be better to get the money quickly so that he could start making money.

"Okay, wait a moment!"

The man was much more enthusiastic now. The unexpected success made him look happy. It seemed that he made a lot of money from this deal.

"Payment and goods." The man handed Ling Tian a stack of Mao Zedong's banknotes and a recycling receipt and said, "Boss, please check it. If there are any mistakes or omissions, we will not be responsible after you leave."

Ling Tian was not polite either. He took the money and counted it one by one in front of the boss. Since he was not from an accounting background, he counted the money as slowly as a snail. In addition, he picked up each bill and held it up to the light to verify its authenticity, so you can imagine how fast he counted it.

The man was scowling. Who were you looking down on? How could such a small amount of money be fake? Although he was unhappy, he didn't rush. Fortunately, the money was not much, and it was done in three or four minutes.

After confirming that everything was correct, I bought a cheap old-fashioned phone from a mobile phone store, replaced the SIM card, and after testing it and making calls and finding no problems, I left.

He was extremely hungry at this moment, so he found a noodle shop nearby that looked inexpensive and walked in. Looking at the huge price tag behind the cash register, the cheapest one was 12 yuan. If he wasn't so hungry, Ling Tian really wanted to just leave.

A few minutes later, a dish so shiny it could reflect light was left on the table, leaving the cleaning lady completely bewildered. When had the dishwashing lady become so responsible? Meanwhile, Ling Tian, the instigator of all this, had already boarded the bus back home.

In the car, Ling Tian fell into deep thought. Now that he had enough space to stock up, he could start making plans to deal with the end of the world. As for what to stock up, he already knew it clearly.

After more than a year of experience in the apocalypse, although he didn't know the global situation, he had walked at least nine thousand miles. Wherever he went, there was only hard soil with no grass. In addition to digging up the pitiful amount of edible items buried underground, the survivors also had corpses and living people as their most important source of food.

Ling Tian knew that if there was no new source of food, or if food could not meet the demand, then human cannibalism would continue, and extinction would be only a matter of time.

He is not a saint, nor a savior. He wants to live, but he doesn't want to live on as the last human being in the apocalypse. What's the point of that?

So the supplies he wants to stockpile are different - people!

He wanted to hoard people but that didn't mean to put them in the space. Besides, the space didn't have the capacity to do so. Ling Tian had already thought about it. The area inside the cave where he had escaped the disaster was still very large. It was more than enough to accommodate dozens of people. He was confident that if he dug and expanded it a little, he could accommodate one or two hundred people. With such a group of people, it would be great to build a big village and become the king of the mountain in the end times. Maybe after a few years, he would become the first emperor on Earth to rule the world.

Of course, he wouldn't be so foolish as to take just anyone. At least they had to be recognized by him, or in other words, loyal. Otherwise, he wouldn't play with them.

Besides hoarding people, arable land, seeds, and water were also of paramount importance. In the apocalypse, all the mountains and rivers were barren. As long as there was a large amount of arable land and seeds, and self-sufficiency was achieved, then who would follow him and have any other intentions? Regardless of the apocalypse, the only goal was to maintain stability, right?

As for how to stockpile, he already has a preliminary plan, but it's too early to say. The most important thing now is to get money. Without money, everything is bullshit.

He returned to the rental house, packed up all his belongings, and brought them all into the space. He looked at the place where he had stayed for two years, and looked carefully again. After making sure that nothing that belonged to him was left, he wiped his hands with satisfaction and walked towards the landlord's floor.

"Sister Zhou, are you there?"

"etc!"

After waiting for about two minutes, the door suddenly opened. Zhou Hongmei was standing with her legs together in a slightly strange posture, and her cheeks were slightly flushed. Ling Tian was not a fool, but he did not point it out.

"What's up?"

"I'm checking out."

"Hmm, wait."

After saying that, he closed the door, and a rustling sound came from inside. A few minutes later, Zhou Hongmei, with a zombie face, went back to his rental house with Ling Tian.

“So clean!”

Ling Tian knew that she was speaking with a double meaning, but he didn't bother to pay attention.

"Since there is no problem, please return the deposit to me."

Zhou Hongmei took a cold look, took out 6,000 yuan from her bag and handed it over, saying, "Leave the key and go, don't stay here."

After getting the key, Zhou Hongmei hurried to her residence, probably to continue her exercise.

Ling Tian took another look at the empty house, then turned around and strode out. He stopped after taking a few steps, put his hands in his pockets, pretending to take something out, but in fact he was bringing out the paper and pen he wanted through space.

When he reached Eighth Sister's door, he knew she would not be there at this hour, so he wrote down his number and added, "Sister, I'm leaving here soon. This is my number. Let me know if you need any help."

He stuffed the note through the crack in the door, sighed and left.
