Chapter 10 I don't even get this kind of treatment during holidays!

In the center of the main room of the Su family, on an old wooden table, there was a large bowl of bright red rabbit stewed with radish, a large bowl of eggplant-purple stir-fried bracken, a dish of braised dried green beans, and in the center of the wooden table, a full bowl of snow-white rice and a dozen or so cornbread buns.

The rich aroma of meat mixed with the fragrance of vegetables is so enticing that it makes your mouth water.

"Mom, why did you cook so much white rice today?" Su Dahu's eyes almost popped out as he stared at the full bowl of rice.

You know, even during holidays and festivals, his family never received this kind of treatment.

"Today is a good day. Our Hua'er and that ingrate Feng Zicai have successfully broken off their engagement. I've specially steamed a big pot of white rice to celebrate. Come on, one bowl for each of you!" Madam Su Bai was in charge of distributing the food, and each spoonful was almost identical.

Each person gets six pieces of rabbit meat, plus a large spoonful of radish and rabbit meat soup.

Su Erhu took the rice bowl, secretly glanced at his younger sister, and seeing that she didn't seem displeased at all, he smiled and held the rice bowl, "Mother is right! In my opinion, it was the Feng family who were always the ones who were tormenting our Su family before, but now that the engagement has been broken off, we have everything we need, from rabbits to fish."

"What my husband says is true." Madam Qian snatched two pieces of rabbit meat in one bite, her eyes suddenly lighting up. "Oh my, this rabbit meat is so fragrant, and the skin is so thin and the meat is so tender. One bite and it's almost like my tongue is going to melt. Mother, your cooking skills are getting better and better!"

"Yes, this is the most delicious rabbit meat I've ever eaten," Mr. and Mrs. Su nodded repeatedly.

The three of them, Dalang, Erlang, and Chunhua, buried their heads in their rice, chewing a piece of rabbit meat before swallowing a large mouthful of rice.

"Hmph, even if you praise it to the heavens, six pieces of rabbit meat per person isn't much." Madam Su snorted coldly, but her back straightened slightly. Whenever there was meat in the Su family, she was always the one in charge of cooking.

This is the first time I've ever been praised like this.

Holding her rice bowl, Su Hua caught a glimpse of the three lonely pieces of rabbit meat in Su Bai's bowl and couldn't help but sigh softly.

She really is a kind-hearted old lady with a sharp tongue.

"Mother, this is too much, I can't eat it all. You should eat some for me." As Su Hua spoke, she picked up pieces of rabbit meat from her overflowing bowl and put them into Su Bai's bowl.

Su Bai was stunned for a moment. "Hua'er, what are you doing?"

"To lose weight." Su Hua swallowed a mouthful of rabbit meat and nodded in satisfaction.

As expected of a rabbit that has eaten water droplets, this meat is noticeably more flavorful than regular rabbit meat.

Moreover, it lacks technology and grueling work.

One bite, and your mouth is completely enveloped in delicious flavor.

"Huh? What about losing weight?" Su Bai asked, puzzled. "Did that ingrate from the Feng family say something unpleasant during the day? Our Hua'er is a rare beauty in the surrounding area, and her good fortune is the envy of everyone. Why would she need to lose weight?"

Upon hearing this, the Su family members readily agreed.

"Mother is right, Hua'er is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen."

"Yes, Hua'er is at her most beautiful right now, she doesn't need to lose weight at all."

"If that ungrateful bastard Feng is talking nonsense, Third Brother will go and beat him up tonight, so he can't tell right from wrong..."

Su Hua's lips twitched.

If I hadn't already looked in the mirror...

She's probably really going to believe this group of people's lies!

“This weight loss isn’t for becoming more beautiful.” Su Hua’s eyes shifted slightly as she explained, “Being born with a blessed appearance, while good-looking, is bad for your health. At best, it lowers our bodily functions; at worst, it can trigger a series of chronic diseases that are ultimately incurable and beyond saving.”

Seeing the family members holding up their chopsticks, looking completely stunned.

She could only say, "These are all things that Meng Po said."

"What? Meng Po said that?" Su Baishi suddenly perked up. "Since Meng Po has said so, then we should lose weight from now on. But we can't starve ourselves. We still need to eat. Only when we're full will we have the energy to lose weight."

Seeing this, Su Hua said nothing more.

Nothing should be rushed. You can't become fat overnight, nor can you become as thin as lightning in a flash.

Madam Qian pursed her lips for a long while, then asked, "Hua'er, let me ask you, will you ever see Meng Po again?"

"To see Meng Po?" Su Hua raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Yes, if Hua'er could see her, could she—" A rare hint of shyness flashed across Madam Qian's face as she slowly said, "Could you ask for my second sister-in-law when she'll be able to give birth to a son?"

Upon hearing this, the Su family members all stared at Su Hua, pausing in their eating.

Only Chunhua's eyes dimmed slightly for a moment.

Su Hua remained silent for a long time.

"Second sister-in-law, I'm afraid the matter of having a son is not under Meng Po's jurisdiction."

Madam Qian paused for a moment, then said with a hint of expectation, "It is said that the gods in heaven get together during festivals. If Hua'er sees Meng Po again next time, ask her to pass on a message to Second Sister-in-law and ask which god is in charge of the matter of having sons and daughters."

"Enough!" Su Bai slammed her chopsticks down. "If you can't even control your mouth while eating, then get out of here and go eat mud!"

Saying goodbye to Meng Po is practically cursing her to die!

"I'm doing this for the good of the Su family..." Madam Qian said, feeling a little aggrieved, but the man beside her quickly pulled her back.

"Hurry up and eat." Su Erhu pulled his wife aside, then put a piece of rabbit meat into her and Chunhua's bowls from his own, and said in a low voice, "If you ask me, our Chunhua is very good. It's okay if she has a son a few years later, and it doesn't matter if she can't have a son in the future."

What was meant to be a comforting remark only made Ms. Qian even more depressed.

Her elder brother and sister-in-law had two sons in their lifetime, but she had only one daughter, Chunhua, in the past four years. How could she not be anxious?

Moreover, if she didn't have a son to rely on, she'd probably have her spine broken.

Su Hua glanced at the couple whispering in each other's ears, then picked up a large mouthful of stir-fried bracken.

As expected of bracken fern in March, it is at its most tender and delicious.

Simply stir-fry two chilies, and it becomes incredibly crisp, tender, and smooth.

Most importantly, this stuff is a lifesaver for obese people, with amazing weight loss effects.

The villagers of Shanghe Village don't have many nighttime activities. After washing up after dinner, they extinguish the oil lamps early and go straight to bed. Since birth, the original owner has slept in the main house with Su Baishi in a large bed typical of the countryside, where two people can sleep without feeling cramped.

Su Hua tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.

She touched the bracelet and saw that the space in the pigeon egg-shaped bracelet was now completely bare.

Could it be that there are only two water droplets inside, and they don't regenerate? If that's the case, then this stone bracelet is ruined.

Moreover, exchanging a single drop of water for a whole litter of rabbits is a huge loss no matter how you look at it.

"Hua'er, can't you sleep?" Su Bai's slightly worried voice came, pulling Su Hua's thoughts away from the stone bracelet.

She smiled faintly, "Mother, I'd like to go to town tomorrow, is that alright?"
