Upon hearing the sound, the three little radish boys, Su Dalang, all stood on tiptoe and looked in the direction Su Erhu was glaring at. They saw Feng Zicai standing proudly at the end of the narrow path. The reeds obscured most of his figure, but they could still see that he was wearing a well-fitting light blue long-collared robe, and the turban that had been chewed up by Da Bai and Xiao Hei yesterday had been replaced with a brand new one.
"Hey, Scholar Feng is here again. Is he still not done playing with Little Black and Big White?"
"Fool! Scholar Feng is carrying a box of pastries from Tianxianglou; he's obviously here to see his aunt!"
"But didn't we say yesterday that we had too many pastries at home? And he still sent us more! His head is just full of shit..."
Su Sanhu put down his basket, rolled up his sleeves, and headed towards the path. "That shameless bastard! If I hadn't run away so fast yesterday, I would have beaten him to a pulp. He actually dares to come back today. I'm going to beat him to death!"
"Third Brother!" Su Hua paused in her action of planting sweet potato vines.
He glanced indifferently at the people on the path, then reached out to stop Su Sanhu. "Third Brother, don't be anxious. He's just a clown. We'll have plenty of time to deal with him. What's important for us now is to plant these sweet potato vines."
Su Sanhu paused slightly, his gaze lingering on the girl's porcelain-white face.
She pursed her lips, finally unable to resist asking, "Hua'er, do you still... still have feelings for Feng Zicai...?"
He hesitated for a moment, unable to continue.
It seems inappropriate for him, as the older brother, to ask his younger sister such a question in front of the whole family.
Su Erhu, who was rubbing his hands together in anticipation, also subconsciously took a deep breath. You see, Hua'er used to be completely obedient to Feng Zicai, practically doting on him every day. Compared to him, his three older brothers were really... better not to compare.
It's only been a month, how can you really let it go so easily?
Especially since Hua'er is such a sentimental person.
Su Erlang looked completely bewildered. He quietly tugged at Su Dalang's sleeve and whispered in his ear, "Dalang, what did Third Uncle say? I didn't understand a word of it. Did you understand?"
Chunhua also frowned as she looked at her brothers.
“Ahem…” Su Dalang coughed softly, his little hands behind his back scratching his palms uncomfortably. “Adults’ affairs are just for us kids to listen to, why do we have to say so much?”
How could he possibly understand such a nonsensical statement?
Although he has been the eldest brother for many years, he is still just a four-year-old child.
Su Hua looked at this family of clowns and almost burst out laughing. "Second Brother and Third Brother, don't worry. Even if all the men in this world died, I would never have any feelings for Feng Zicai again."
In modern China, someone like Feng Zicai could be considered a semi-phoenix man (a man from a poor background who achieves success despite adversity).
The reason I say "half" is because Feng Zicai is currently just a poor scholar. If he were to have a stroke of luck and pass the imperial examinations, he would truly be a golden phoenix flying out of a straw nest.
However, with Su Hua around, he'll only ever be a half-phoenix in this lifetime.
Therefore, if she really had feelings for Feng Zicai, it would only be the desire to suppress him to death, and there would be absolutely no affection for him.
Seeing the cold smile on her lips, Su Erhu and his brother finally felt a great sense of relief. The Feng family mother and daughter were both wicked, and if Hua'er still harbored feelings for Feng Zicai, she would probably fall into their trap again.
Perhaps out of consideration for the villagers lined up on the foundation, it wasn't until dusk, when Su Hua had finished dinner and was out with her two pets, Da Bai and Xiao Hei, to digest their food, that she saw the man emerge from the path, his face flushed from the sun.
"Hua'er, you've finally agreed to come out and see me. Do you know how long I've been waiting for you here?"
Feng Zicai stood in front of the girl, his gaze greedily fixed on her small, palm-sized face. Yesterday, he was a little far away and only knew that she had changed a lot compared to before, but it was nothing compared to seeing her up close now. Whether it was her big, watery eyes, her pert nose, or her rosy lips, every feature was truly perfect. He had never seen anyone more beautiful than her.
Especially her exquisite figure, which even a long dress couldn't conceal, contrasted beautifully with her porcelain-white face under the sunset, creating a captivating blend of allure and innocence.
She only needs to stand there, without doing anything, to ignite a fire within a person, burning from their toes to the tips of their hair. He turned eighteen the following year, no longer a clueless child, and naturally knew what this fire meant.
His desire to possess her reached its peak at this moment.
The two little ones who were laughing and playing behind Su Hua suddenly perked up their ears when they smelled the man's scent.
"Woof woof woof!!! Woof woof!! Woof!"
"Meow! Meow roar!! Meow!!!"
Immediately following was the scraping sound of its claws digging into the ground, as if it was about to pounce on him at any moment.
Feng Zicai felt a chill run down his spine and immediately took three steps back.
Those two little beasts pounced out of the yard yesterday and knocked him to the ground. They not only tore his fine clothes and turban into shreds, but also covered his face, hands, and neck with their scratches.
Even now, wearing long-necked clothes, it's impossible to hide it.
Now, seeing these two makes me feel even more pain from all the wounds.
Su Hua glanced at the man's actions, a hint of mockery flashing in her almond-shaped eyes. She waved to Da Bai and Xiao Hei before speaking indifferently, "Isn't today the Meng family's wedding day? As the Meng family's prospective son-in-law, why isn't Feng Xiucai staying at the Meng family's residence? What are you doing here waiting for me?"
Feng Zicai was quite pleased to see Su Hua waving at the little beast.
