Chapter 367 Unconventional Approach

Su Hua paused slightly, raising her eyes to look at the stepping stone. The stone was about half an arm's length long for an adult man, a fairly regular rectangular prism, with an inconspicuous gray-white color all around, except for the top, which was pitch black. However, the black color did not seem to be original; rather, it looked like a layer of grime that had been trodden on by shop assistants over the years.

The reason it's called a stepping stone is that two or three shop assistants in the Liu family's shop would step on it to put things into the cabinet by the wall.

Su Hua stepped forward, wanting to take a closer look, but after only two steps, the bluestone bracelet on her wrist suddenly felt hot, and she could even feel a very subtle vibration.

She placed her fingertips on the bracelet and tentatively took a step forward. The bracelet instantly became even warmer and vibrated much more strongly.

Although the space dog was very quiet and never spoke, at this moment, she could actually feel its joy.

It's like a baby's overjoyed reaction to seeing breast milk.

Upon seeing this, Su Hua no longer bothered to spend time selecting other raw stones. She walked quickly to the stepping stone. However, just as she reached out, a folding fan emerged from the side.

Looking up, she met Liu Lin's eyes, which seemed to smile without end. "With so many fine rough stones in the shop, does Miss Su really intend to choose a stepping stone?"

As the man spoke, he looked toward the stepping stones.

This rough stone was placed here when he first came to the shop as a child, almost ten years ago.

Because the rough stone's outer skin was quite ordinary, it was barely worth the low price of five taels per kilogram in the rough stone section. The top of the cabinet on the west side of the shop was too high for the shop assistants to reach, so they simply used the rough stone as a stepping stone.

For nearly ten years, not a single customer has shown interest in this rough stone. Su Hua's actions now inevitably raise questions.

Su Hua smiled and used her index finger to move the folding fan that was blocking her way. Then, she picked up the stepping stone and put it in the bamboo basket they were using to store the raw stones.

Having done all this, she smiled and replied to the man's earlier words, "We agreed outside the shop that even if we picked out ten stepping stones from the Liu family's shop, we would definitely bring them back intact."

"Right now, I really can't find a tenth nice one, so taking this back will at least make up the number."

Liu Lin's temples throbbed. When they entered the shop, they wouldn't let the Qin siblings help out, and Su Hua used the "stepping stone" analogy to shut him up. Now, after going around in circles, she's actually throwing those words back at him.

Moreover, despite her seemingly delicate appearance, she possessed such great strength that even a grown man like him couldn't withstand the push she received!

But the stepping stone had already been put into the basket by her, and he couldn't take it back. He could only wait and see what the meeting would bring.

Beside her, Liu Yuxian glanced at a basket of strange-looking raw stones and sneered, "Miss Su's peculiar tastes are truly unparalleled; she only knows how to pick those that are missing limbs!"

Su Hua shook her head in disapproval. "The phrase 'unparalleled in the world' is not quite right. Miss Liu's quirks are equally unparalleled. We should be considered to be of similar tastes. Otherwise, how would I have had the opportunity to get these ten raw stones for free today?"

It was a gentle and kind sentence, but it directly made Liu Yuxian swallow all her words. This Su Hua really was reminding her of the destruction of seedlings in Zaozhuang all the time!

She angrily flung her wide sleeves and said, "Since Miss Su has already chosen the raw stone, let's not waste any more time and get it cut open quickly."

Get it done quickly, and get out of here.

She really didn't want to see her anymore!

The Qin siblings, having overheard the conversation between the two, had been holding back their laughter until their shoulders ached.

The customers in the shop were completely speechless. They wouldn't find it strange if the Su family chose a stepping stone, let alone a stone to block a rat hole.

They just want to see if they can find one or two more stones like the Spring Rainbow among these ten rough stones.

Wei Jianjia stayed at the outermost edge of the crowd, keeping a close eye on Qin Yucheng's expression from beginning to end, while clutching the brocade pouch at her waist.

Tomorrow is the last day of the half-month period that Junyan gave her.

Let alone winning Qin Yucheng's heart, she never even caught his eye.

His heart and eyes were only for Su Hua.

Why couldn't Su Hua have just died peacefully in the bandits' den? Why did they have to come and compete with her? Why is her luck always so good...?

Su Hua's senses were sharp, and she certainly didn't miss the feeling of being pricked by needles, but when she looked back, she only saw a bunch of dark heads.

She composed herself, waved to the Liu siblings, and said, "Now that we've chosen the raw stones, we'll take our leave. Until we meet again."

As soon as she finished speaking, she tried to pick up the basket, but Xiao Jinhan behind her was faster. He placed his large hand on the edge of the basket and lifted it onto his shoulder.

Su Hua looked at his back, which didn't bend at all, and couldn't help but sigh inwardly. This man really had a powerful waist. A basket of stones weighed at least a thousand pounds, but on his shoulders, it was as if he was carrying a rabbit, without any effort at all.

When the group of people in the shop saw that the Su family was about to leave, they froze on the spot.

The Su family is completely unpredictable.

Who buys raw stones and just takes them away without complaining about the weight?!

Besides, what are we going to do with the raw stones? Are we really going to use them as stepping stones?

The skill required for cutting this stone is extremely high. Without twenty or thirty years of experience, one cannot be a stone cutter in a jade shop. After all, a single wrong cut can ruin a good piece of jade. If the Su family intends to take it home and cut it themselves, that is even more of a pipe dream!

The Liu siblings were also stunned and took a while to react. They quickly stepped forward to stop them, saying, "Miss Su, since you have already chosen the raw stone, why don't you have it cut open in the shop before you leave?"
