Chapter 379: Undoing the poison

"Bake him!" Jun Yan exclaimed, suddenly standing up and waving his hand towards the shadows. "Quickly, summon the best doctor in the city..."

"Your Highness need not trouble yourself, I am fine." Mo raised his hand to stop him, and a hand as thin as withered tree bark emerged from beneath his wide black robe, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth. "It is the offspring of the Nine Yin Puppet Gu that has shown unusual activity."

Upon hearing this, a strange look appeared on the man's fair face. "Didn't Mo say before that it would take at least seven days for this Gu poison to take effect after it's been cast? How come there are already unusual signs?"

After tonight, it will be the last day for him to give Wei Jianjia the Nine Yin Puppet Gu. He originally thought that, given Wei Jianjia's obsession with Qin Yucheng, she would not do anything to Qin Yucheng until the very last day. However, at noon, Mo Bian told him that the Nine Yin Puppet Gu had already been planted.

Even so, the Gu worm shouldn't be acting up now.

Mo placed one hand on his chest, lowered his eyes and remained silent for a moment, finally suppressing the discomfort in his chest. "Perhaps the person afflicted by the Gu has asked a witch doctor to intervene, causing the Gu to become abnormally excited. We will only know the specifics after seeing the person afflicted by the Gu."

"A witch doctor? How is that possible?!"

Jun Yan frowned, his usually calm and handsome face filled with disbelief.

The Western Rong witch doctor always lived in the Western Rong royal palace. He was eccentric and there were very few witch doctors who were skilled in Gu poison. If it weren't for the chance encounter that saved Bamo, he wouldn't have been able to keep him by his side.

Furthermore, it is thousands of miles from Qingshui County to Xirong. Even if one were to cross the Daheishan Mountain to enter Xirong, it would take five or six days to return. How could the Qin family possibly find a so-called witch doctor in the afternoon?

Unless, the witch doctor was already invited!

Thinking of this, a shadow crossed Jun Yan's eyes. The matter of poisoning Qin Yucheng had always been kept secret, and apart from him, only Ye Yu, Ba Mo, and Wei Jianjia knew about it.

Ye Yu and Ba Mo are both his people, but Wei Jianjia is at most half of them.

If Wei Jianjia had already conspired with the Qin family to stage this charade for him—first casting the Gu poison, then removing it… Thinking of this, he felt it was somewhat unreasonable. His cousin wasn't stupid; he would rather believe she would cast the Gu poison on someone else than have the audacity to play tricks on him.

Before he could figure it out, a strong smell of blood hit him.

Jun Yan suddenly looked up and saw a large patch of eerie blackish-red blood foam rise up, half of it splashing on his face and half of it falling into the courtyard.

The person opposite them had already fallen straight backward.

"Clang!"

Mo was thrown to the ground, his hands clutching his chest tightly. The veil covering his head fell off, revealing half of his eerie, pale face. His face was contorted in pain, and his two eyes, all white, were bulging out in a terrifying manner.

Jun Yan's heart trembled at the sight, but he couldn't care less about feeling nauseous at that moment. He quickly wiped the blood from his eyes and waved his hand into the shadows, "Quick! Bring the best doctor from Tangshan Prefecture..."

Qingshui County, Qin Mansion, Linfeng Courtyard.

Everyone gasped as they stared at the Gu worm emerging from the wound on Qin Yucheng's wrist.

The worm was about the size of a soybean, its entire body was dark, except for its head, which was a bright red like blood. It had a pair of tiny eyes on its forehead, its tail was slightly upturned, and it had a pair of thin wings on its sides.

After emerging from the wound, the Gu worm actually lay directly on Qin Yucheng's wound and began licking the... wine liquid on it.

A-Zheng raised her hand and covered the black ceramic bottle in her hand until the Gu worms licked the wine off their wounds and scurried towards the ceramic basin on the ground, before quietly letting go.

Everyone stared wide-eyed as a golden ray of light flew out of the black ceramic bottle and then swiftly attacked the Gu worm. Its speed was so fast that it even created a faint whooshing sound in the air.

The Nine Yin Puppet Gu paused for a moment, then suddenly leaped upwards from the ceramic basin, but A-Zheng was faster, scooping up the brazier and covering it entirely.

Flames spilled from where the two basins met, and the sizzling sounds, like those of a struggle, mixed with the crackling of the flames, gradually faded into silence from their intense heat.

Old Xue swallowed hard, looking at the brazier with a pained expression. "Zheng girl, this Gu is most afraid of fire. Your Gu baby will be burned."

“Most Gu are indeed afraid of fire.” A-Zheng raised an eyebrow nonchalantly. “But my Gu baby is different. It’s not afraid of water or fire. As long as there’s good food, it can go anywhere.”

Old Xue was somewhat astonished. The essence of Gu is insects, and the greatest nemesis of insects is fire. But the Gu King in this little girl's hand is not even afraid of fire. Isn't that going to the heavens?

Oh my, he really wants a good buddy like that too.

Old Zhou swallowed hard with envy. As expected of the witchcraft of the Western Rong, it could even reverse the nature of insects.

Soon, all sounds under the brazier ceased.

A-Zheng raised her hand and lifted the fire basin. Everyone subconsciously looked in the direction she was looking. The wine in the earthenware basin was steaming slightly, and there were scattered pieces of extinguished golden charcoal. The Nine Yin Puppet Gu that had tried to escape had disappeared without a trace, leaving only a small golden insect.

The insect was about half the size of a fingernail, golden all over with a deep blue back. It was lying sprawled in the wine, and if it weren't for the little mouth under its head moving, one would think it was taking a bath.

A hint of helplessness flashed in Azheng's beautiful eyes, "Gu baby, come back to the bottle!"

Hearing the sound, the golden worm looked up at her but didn't move, only showing her half of its bulging belly, while its little mouth continued to drink the liquid without stopping.

Old Xue's eyes lit up as he looked at her. "Zheng girl, your Gu King is really too good-looking. If he could transform into a human, he would definitely be a handsome young master."
