Chapter 383 Cutting Off Flesh

The moonlight was bright, illuminating the center of the open space with the still-burning campfire, making it almost impossible to see anything. Wei Jianjia watched as lines of blood sprayed from mid-air onto the campfire, and then, a severed arm fell to the ground.

In the blink of an eye, the fabric on the severed arm was completely burned away by the flames, and the air was filled with the smell of burning flesh.

The guards' wails, along with the crackling of the flames, struck my heart like drumbeats.

"Ugh!" Wei Jianjia froze on the spot, feeling a churning in her stomach.

Qiu Shuang slowly awoke, startled. "Miss, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell...?"

"Don't speak!" Wei Jianjia snapped, her hands clenched into fists beneath her wide sleeves.

The guard with the severed arm was none other than her coachman.

Qiu Shuang finally realized something was wrong and quickly looked outside in the direction of her gaze. Upon seeing this, she was instantly wide awake.

A man with a cold and hard face was leading a group of men in black, who stood neatly in the open space. Each of them had a long sword at their waist, the blades gleaming coldly in the moonlight.

Has this... this... this happened to us, and we've encountered highway robbers?!

Outside the carriage, the leader of the Wei family guards jumped out of the carriage upon hearing the commotion. When he saw the two subordinates with their arms cut off by the campfire, his eyes instantly turned cold.

"Who exactly are you people! What do you want?"

This is the entourage of the Right Chancellor of Yu the Great. Anyone thinking of robbing them would have to consider whether they're qualified!

Yu Feng glanced at him, her voice icy, "We're here today only to find the second young lady of the Wei family, and have nothing to do with anyone else. If you want to live, get out of here!"

"You bastard!" The head guard was so angry at this attitude that he paused for a moment.

He drew his sword and pointed it at Yu Feng, shouting, "Who do you think you are! How dare you be so insolent in front of the Wei family! Since you're in such a hurry to meet the King of Hell, I'll grant your wish right now..."

The man was speaking when he suddenly swung his sword at Yu Feng's neck.

The force was immense, as if it intended to kill the person with a single sword strike.

Upon seeing this, the forty or so guards behind him all took out their weapons and surrounded Yu Feng and his party.

However, when the head guard was halfway through his sword-wielding maneuver, a long sword suddenly slashed down from mid-air, striking his wrist with a sharp pain. The sword in his hand clattered to the ground and broke in two.

The man opposite him stood with his sword drawn, not moving an inch.

The head guard swallowed hard, but still kept his back straight. "What exactly do you want?"

I'm telling you, no matter which path you're on, you'd better get out of here right now.

Our Miss Wei is not only the Prime Minister's beloved daughter, but also the niece of the current Imperial Concubine Shu, and the Third Prince's cousin. If you dare to cause trouble, they will definitely not let you off... Ah!!!

Before the man could finish his harsh words, he suddenly felt a chill on his neck. When he looked down, it felt like his neck had been ripped open, and blood gushed out.

The pupils of all the Wei family guards shrank in unison, and some of the more timid ones even took a step back.

The master and servant in the carriage froze on the spot, not daring to even breathe loudly.

Yu Feng glanced at the carriage in the center, carefully wiped the blood off the head guard's clothes with his sword, and then looked at the Wei family guards outside the circle. "I'll say it one last time, if you don't want to die, get out of here."

Upon hearing the commotion, the Wei family guards disregarded everything else and immediately took off running, abandoning their luggage. With their leader dead, staying here would only lead to their demise.

Even the two men on the ground with their arms cut off staggered away, clutching their wounds.

When Wei Jianjia saw that all forty guards had scattered like birds, she was both angry and afraid.

The servants that the Wei family usually spend so much money to support actually abandoned their mistress and ran away when trouble came up!

Furthermore, who exactly are these men in black? Even the head of the guards of the Wei family couldn't withstand a single move from them.

Moreover, the first thing he said was that he wanted to find her.

Could it be that the insects fed to Yu Cheng have been exposed? Did her uncle send people to arrest her?

The thought had barely crossed her mind when she immediately rejected it. If it really was someone sent by her uncle, they wouldn't kill someone so easily. Besides, Jun Yan had said that the little bug wouldn't act up so quickly.

If it's not the Qin family, then who is it?

However, after the people outside drove all the guards away, there was no further movement.

This kind of unexplained waiting is inexplicably more agonizing.

After an unknown amount of time, she even began to wonder if she should grab the reins of the carriage and give it a shot, when finally she heard the sound of horses' hooves.

Wei Jianjia narrowed her beautiful eyes slightly. She couldn't see the person coming from the car window yet, only the man from before turning around and bowing respectfully, "Master, Miss Su!"

"Su?" The girl's heart skipped a beat.

A bad feeling involuntarily crept into my heart.

Then, a clear, cold voice rang out, "Where is Miss Wei?"

The voice was almost etched into her bones. Wei Jianjia opened her eyes wide and watched as two figures, one tall and one short, walked step by step from the official road to the campfire in the open space.

It really is Su Hua?

Why did she come looking for us? Could it be that she found out about the bandit hideout and was the one who instigated it?

Upon realizing this, Wei Jianjia abruptly turned to look at Qiu Shuang, her gaze sharp as a knife.

The latter was just as shocked as Wei Jianjia, and could only shake her head repeatedly. She had disguised herself from head to toe when she went to the Earth God Temple in the west of the city that day, so how could she have been discovered?

Yu Feng pointed to the carriage in the middle, "Miss Su, Miss Wei is right there."

Su Hua looked up and saw the car window move. "Oh! Does Miss Wei want us to ask her to get out of the car?"

“Hua’er, you don’t need to go over there, let me do it.” Xiao Jinhan pulled the girl back, his large hand paused for a moment on the bushes beside him, and then he flicked his wide sleeve.
