Chapter 405 Husband and Wife Turn into Enmity

Su Sanhu paused for a moment, but only for a second, before continuing to walk forward with the basket in his hand.

When Liang Siyu saw that he did not turn around and leave, but walked towards her step by step, her heart suddenly started beating faster. Even her hands under her wide sleeves unconsciously clenched together, her nails digging into her palms. The dense, stinging sensation intertwined with the joy burning in her heart.

However, seeing him walk right up to her without stopping for a moment, and simply walk past her, the woman's joy was instantly dampened. She instinctively reached out and tugged at his sleeve, "Brother Sanhu!"

The voice was low and soft, so gentle it seemed like you could squeeze water out of it, and even carried a hint of aggrieved trembling.

The young man stopped, his obsidian-like eyes fixed on the hand that was tugging at his sleeve, his gaze unwavering. "Meng Fu's wife, please have some self-respect!"

He immediately pulled his sleeve back.

Upon hearing the words "Meng Fu's wife," the woman's face suddenly stiffened.

She then shook her head repeatedly, her bright eyes instantly turning red. "Brother Sanhu, are you still resentful towards me? Resentful that I suddenly married Meng Fu? But this was not my wish, I was forced into it!"

After Yaozu passed the preliminary examination, his parents hoped that he could pass the county-level examination. However, the tuition fee for school was more than ten taels of silver a year, and there were also expenses for writing materials. The family simply could not afford it, so they set their sights on me, hoping that I could earn more money.

All these years, my heart has only belonged to Brother Sanhu. I have never had even the slightest thought for Meng Fu. If my parents hadn't threatened to kill themselves and forced me into marriage, I would never have been able to marry into the Meng family, and I would never have become Meng Fu's wife.

Halfway through her speech, tears began to fall like beads from a broken string.

But the person on the other side didn't react at all. Seeing this, Liang Siyu couldn't help but feel resentful. "My parents promised that as long as your Su family could come up with the recipe for the snail soup, they would let me marry you instead of marrying into the Meng family."

You clearly haven't been selling snails anymore, so why can't you share the recipe?

Could it be that all our friendship over the years is less important to Brother Sanhu than a small prescription...?

For the past month, she had been trying to go to the end of the village almost every day, and only today did she finally run into him. But his cold attitude was too hurtful.

On that still handsome face, there was not a trace of the affection that once existed; he was even less than a stranger.

The boy, who hadn't reacted much until now, finally couldn't help but chuckle softly upon hearing this. "I never knew you were such a good actor. It's a shame you don't have a stage to perform on."

"What?" The woman was full of complaints, her eyes barely blinking. "What does Brother Sanhu mean... what do you mean by saying I'm a good actor... I don't understand."

At this point, she suddenly remembered the rumors circulating in the village and hurriedly explained, "Brother Sanhu, did you hear the villagers gossiping? I wasn't the one who was messing around with Meng Fu before. I only found out after I married into Shanghe Village. Brother Sanhu, you can't wrong me!"

The Meng family is a den of wolves. Meng Yongfu beat me, and Meng Fu has a bunch of women outside. I'm living a life worse than death in the Meng family. Brother Sanhu, please take me away.

I don't want to stay in Shanghe Village anymore, I just want to be with you..."

Su Sanhu looked at the lingering redness and swelling on her face, and his smile gradually faded. "I saw everything that happened that morning, and I heard everything I was supposed to hear."

The life you have now is the one you chose with your own hands; you can't blame anyone else.

Also, don't call me "Brother Sanhu" anymore when we meet, it's disgusting to hear.

After saying that, he didn't linger any longer and headed straight for the end of the village with the empty basket.

“That morning…” Liang Siyu murmured, reaching out to stop him, but a thought flashed through her mind and her face gradually lost its color.

The morning he was referring to was the one when he went to the Meng family to apply medicine to Meng Fu.

He saw it? He actually saw everything?! How could this be... The woman was shocked, then suddenly remembered the faint sounds she had heard on the bed.

By the way, she felt that someone was watching from the roof, but before she could figure it out, all the roof tiles fell down, attracting villagers from Shanghe Village to gather around the Meng family to watch the commotion. She had no choice but to flee in panic.

Meng Fu was so frightened at that time that he became useless.

So, Brother Sanhu already knew about her affair with Meng Fu?

Thinking of this, Liang Siyu felt all her strength suddenly drained away. Ever since the Meng family fell into ruin, Brother Sanhu had been her only way out. She thought that as long as she bowed her head to him and apologized properly, he would surely be willing to ignore her because of their years of friendship.

But he actually witnessed all those sordid things, so how could he possibly tolerate her!

What should she do? Is she really going to spend her whole life with a gambler whose hand is about to be chopped off?!

But she was truly unwilling to accept it. It had only been a little over two months, so why had everything changed? God was being so unfair to her...

Just as Liang Siyu was filled with remorse, a rough laugh rang out from behind the bushes, "Ha! Is our Meng family a den of wolves?! You've been living a life worse than death every day in our house? All these years, you've only had Su Sanhu in your heart, and haven't had the slightest thought for me, have you?"

Liang Siyu felt a chill run down her spine as she watched the figure emerge from behind the bushes, completely stunned.

The man walked up to her, his rough hand suddenly reaching into her eyes, then he clicked his tongue lightly, "Still crying? Did you want to roll around in the haystack with your brother Sanhu but failed, so you're crying because you're sad? My woman is crying for another man, does she really think I, Meng Fu, am dead?"
