Around noon, when the Su siblings returned to Shanghe Village in their oxcart, they suddenly noticed that the villagers were looking at them strangely all the way.
Even when Su Hua covered her face with large taro leaves, she could still clearly feel it.
She was never one to dwell on things. She lifted the leaf from her face and went straight to a woman to ask, "Aunt Zhou, what's going on? What happened in our Shanghe Village? Why is everyone acting like they're possessed?"
"Hey, what kind of evil spirit is this!" Aunt Zhou finished planting the rice seedlings in her hands, wiped her hands, and gestured towards the mansion in front of her. "Meng Yun'er brought a noble young man back today. Old Mrs. Meng is killing a chicken to entertain him. I'm afraid the Meng family will be very prosperous in the future."
After the woman finished speaking, she remembered the pork that Su Hua had given her yesterday, and her voice immediately lowered.
"Hua'er, if you see Meng Yun'er in the future, don't go against her. The distinguished guest who came today is clearly not someone to be trifled with."
"A distinguished person?" Su Hua raised an eyebrow slightly.
She didn't want to go against Meng Yun'er, but Meng Yun'er's personality clearly indicated she wasn't holding back.
How could one possibly escape it?
"Yes, that young man looks very young, maybe twelve or thirteen at most, but his bearing is quite imposing! The fabric of his clothes alone is the finest we've ever seen before, and he has two heavy jade pendants hanging from his waist. Even his hair is held up with jade hairpins." Aunt Zhou's eyes shone as she pointed to the white horse not far away.
"That sleek white horse is the one that pulls the carriage for the young master! We probably couldn't buy just one of those horses even if we worked our whole lives..."
Su Hua looked over at the sound and saw the snow-white horse; her lips twitched violently.
As the saying goes, the one riding a white horse is not necessarily a prince; he could also be Tang Sanzang.
But it doesn't matter whether he's a prince or Tang Sanzang.
If they dare to team up with Meng Yun'er to cause trouble.
She would throw a punch at each of them as a proper greeting gift.
"Well, Hua, it's getting late, I'm going to plant rice seedlings now." Aunt Zhou saw Su Hua's smile getting deeper and deeper, but she suddenly shivered and quickly took a few steps inside to start working on her own.
“Hua’er, don’t worry. Even if you’re a young master from a wealthy family, you still have to abide by the law in the Great Yu Dynasty.” Su Dahu glanced at the white horse and continued driving the oxcart toward the end of the village. “As long as our Su family doesn’t commit any crimes, Meng Yun’er can’t do anything to us.”
Su Hua smiled and said, "With my brothers here, I'm not worried at all."
When the brother and sister passed by the Meng family's residence, there were still many people gathered in front of the house, chatting and eating melon seeds.
Su Hua patted her empty stomach and began to imagine what to eat for lunch.
Last night, she drank half a cup of pear blossom wine and became completely dizzy after eating only a few bites of food. Although she ate a large bowl of noodles this morning, noodles are the easiest to digest. Now, after returning from a trip to Qingshui County, she is starving.
But just as the Su siblings' oxcart passed by the Meng family's house...
The courtyard gate opened with a click.
Immediately, an uncertain voice came.
"Miss Su? Miss Su?!" Qin Yucheng's eyes lit up when he saw the figure on the oxcart.
He took off running towards the oxcart.
God knows how much suffering he endured during that short time he spent at the Meng family's house.
Before going, the girl said she was going to tell Su Hua's childhood stories, but once inside, the mother and daughter acted like they were performing a play, taking turns on stage and asking about his family's situation in every conversation.
"Young Master Qin, Young Master Qin, slow down! My mother's chicken stew for you isn't ready yet..." Meng Yun'er lifted her skirt and chased after him, her eyes suddenly darkening as she looked in the direction Qin Yucheng had gone.
Su Hua, it's Su Hua again!
Why is she always so persistent?!
Those gathered outside the Meng family's residence, seeing this scene, forgot to spit out the sunflower seed shells in their mouths, and were all filled with astonishment.
"What's going on? Wasn't this young master supposed to be a distinguished guest of the Meng family? Why is he chasing after the Su family's little girl instead?"
"Yes, look at that young master's appearance, he seems to know the Su family's little girl very well."
"That's right, the young master's eyes are shining, he's clearly very happy. Our dog always looks like that when it sees a bone..."
The villagers' words were like ice pellets, hitting Meng Yun'er's face one by one.
It hit her so hard it hurt like hell.
But Qin Yucheng, who was blocking the oxcart, frowned, looking puzzled. "Who are you? You're not Su Hua!"
"Su Hua?" Su Hua's lips curled up as she looked at the handsome young man with rosy lips and white teeth before her. Suddenly, she felt a mischievous urge. "I wonder what business you have with Miss Su Hua, sir? I live close to her house, so I can pass on your message."
"I have come today because..." Qin Yucheng began, but his words trailed off.
Suddenly I realized something was wrong.
"Miss Su?"
The boy stared at Su Hua's face, scrutinizing her carefully for a long time, and finally confirmed that the person in front of him was indeed Su Hua, the one he was looking for.
But why is it that a person can change so much in just a few days?
That day in front of the Zhou family pharmacy, she was clearly a complete bear.
Now, looking at her again, she appears much fairer and thinner.
If it weren't for her clear, almond-shaped eyes remaining unchanged, he probably wouldn't have been able to recognize her.
"Hua'er, you're back?" Meng Yun'er strolled over and stood affectionately beside Qin Yucheng, her pretty face blushing. "I met Young Master Qin on the road, so I invited him to my home for a while. Hua'er, you won't be angry, will you?"
Su Hua glanced at the two of them with a half-smile, "Why am I angry? A young girl in love, a young man in love, isn't that a very normal thing?"
