Chapter Sixty-Two

Chapter Sixty-Two

"Have you forgotten that after you asked me to get the bouncy ball, you locked the door and set it on fire?"

Yu Songjing's body stiffened.

"What? You don't want to be the campus heartthrob anymore, and you've become the campus playboy instead?" Zhou Mo was invited by Wei Huai again to stroll around the playground, and this time there were obviously more onlookers around.

As Wei Huai chuckled with his hands in his pockets and his head bowed, the wind blew his hair across his forehead, revealing a pair of bright eyes.

"Change your persona appropriately."

"I really don't understand what you're trying to do."

"What a coincidence, I had no idea what you were planning to do."

Wei Huai met Zhou Mo's probing gaze, took a deep breath, and said, "This is the last time. I'll have someone send the record to your dorm. I'm going to do an internship afterward, and I'm afraid we won't have the chance to meet again."

"Um."

Zhou Mo and Wei Huai had nothing to talk about. They were from completely different worlds. If they wanted to have a long conversation, they could only talk about their past troubles, but one of them didn't want to talk about them, and the other didn't want to listen.

It was still nine o'clock. Wei Huai escorted Zhou Mo to the dormitory building. This time, Qi Xiao didn't hide in a corner, but stood where they could both see her.

The whispers around them had no effect on the three people at the center of the scandal.

Qi Xiao pulled Zhou Mo to leave, but Zhou Mo didn't shake off Qi Xiao's hand. However, her body, full of resistance, told Qi Xiao that she didn't want to leave.

Qi Xiao had always been obedient to Zhou Mo, but this time she struggled for a long time. She really wanted to take Zhou Mo away and spend time alone with Zhou Mo, but in the end, reason prevailed over emotion. She let go of Zhou Mo's hand and stood beside her, as if Zhou Mo and she were on the same side.

Wei Huai raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

“I have something to say to Momo. You’ve already dropped her off, so you can go now.”

Wei Huai: "I haven't said goodbye to Zhou Mo yet."

Qi Xiao looked reluctant. "Then hurry up and tell me."

Wei Huai's temperament is unpredictable, changing from one moment to the next. Seeing that Qi Xiao was unhappy, he was even more reluctant to leave. "I suddenly remembered that I still have something to say to Zhou Mo. Zhou Mo, let's go for a walk on the playground again."

Zhou Mo was unwilling to become a bargaining chip in the two people's inexplicable confrontation, so she ignored everyone and went upstairs.

Qi Xiao can go in, but Wei Huai can't.

A boy nearby gloated, "Did the senior cheat on his girlfriend? He got caught and got dumped!"

Wei Huai shrugged helplessly, "If we recruited a bunch of students with nothing but useless brains like you, we'd definitely be in the top ten disgraceful students of Z University."

The boy's face immediately turned ugly after being rebuked. He took a step forward and was about to confront Wei Huai, but Wei Huai was not flustered at all. He looked at the boy casually and said, "Do you want to fight me? I have a black belt in Taekwondo, and I also like free fighting. Which one do you like? I can accommodate you."

A chorus of jeers rose from the crowd, making the boy lose face, but he didn't dare to actually fight Wei Huai.

Wei Huai chuckled and walked past the boy.

With the main characters gone, the crowd naturally dispersed.

From now on, there will be another source of amusement for people to share: an overconfident guy and an incredibly handsome god.

That night, Zhou Mo and Qi Xiao didn't talk much during their conversation. Zhou Mo acted as if she refused to communicate, so Qi Xiao couldn't say anything.

When Fan Nannan returned, Zhou Mo and Qi Xiao were still locked in a stalemate in the dormitory. In the end, Fan Nannan couldn't stand it anymore and pulled Qi Xiao away.

Zhou Mo took out her phone and glanced at the time. Yu Xi's report card from last week hadn't been sent yet. Was it because she didn't do well on the test and didn't want to send it?

After thinking for a moment, Zhou Mo called Yu Xi's homeroom teacher.

Zhou Mo learned over the phone that the school had suspended Yu Xi's classes.

After learning about Yu Xi's background, the homeroom teacher's attitude towards Zhou Mo also underwent a subtle change.

"This decision was made by the school after careful consideration. After Yu Xi's period of reflection ends, he can still come to school as usual. His homework and test papers will be delivered to his home. He has always had good grades and strong learning ability. Studying at home alone will not necessarily affect his grades."

"I understand, thank you, teacher."

Zhou Mo hung up the phone, her fingers swiping rapidly across the screen to book a high-speed rail ticket back to Ming'an City. The boarding gate was in an hour.

She left without hesitation, grabbing her wallet, ID card, and phone charger before heading out of the dormitory.

As she was leaving, she ran into Fan Nannan. Fan Nannan wanted to say something to her, but Zhou Mo walked too fast, and she didn't even have time to open her mouth.

"What's wrong now?"

After thinking for a moment, Fan Nannan decided to call Li Zhenliang.

Li Zhenliang, who was soaking his feet, said, "Hmm? Is something wrong with Ming'an? I haven't heard anything. He Ru didn't call."

"Okay, go soak your feet."

Li Zhenliang didn't care when the phone was hung up on. Anyway, things were already like this, so what if he died? He might as well enjoy each day as it came.

Ming'an is not far from Zhengyang; it takes less than an hour by high-speed rail.

Zhou Mo hailed a taxi and headed straight for the courtyard.

As they were about to get off the train, Zhou Mo began to feel uneasy and anxious. Unlike her calm demeanor when she was packing and booking the tickets, the closer she got to seeing Yu Xi, the faster her heart beat.

The taxi could only stop at the entrance of the alley, some distance from the gate of the courtyard, which made Zhou Mo breathe a sigh of relief.

She walked step by step toward her home, and only when she saw the dim yellow light shining in the courtyard did half of her anxious heart finally settle down.

She took out her key and opened the gate. The flowers in the yard were still bright and beautiful, but a few pots of out-of-season flowers had been moved to the back. Although they were no longer blooming, they were still thriving, with water droplets still clinging to their leaves, showing that they had been well taken care of.

Zhou Mo continued walking inside, and just as she was about to open the door, Yu Xi opened it from the inside.

He seemed to have just taken a shower; the moisture on his body, mixed with the scent of grape shower gel, kept Zhou Mo's travel-worn appearance at bay, leaving her with a sense of home.

"You're back?"

Zhou Mo suddenly felt a dry, itchy throat. "Mmm."

How did you know I'd be back today?

"Tomorrow is Saturday, you should come back to see me, right?" Yu Xi said with a hint of resentment, but her eyes were full of smiles as she looked at Zhou Mo. "I didn't give you your report card today. I guess you'll call your homeroom teacher and hear that I've been suspended from school. You won't just ignore me."

"But I didn't expect you wouldn't even call me."

Yu Xi poured Zhou Mo a glass of warm water.

"Zhou Mo, how much do you care about me?"

"I care a lot. Besides myself, you are the one I care about the most."

Yu Xi had intended to tease Zhou Mo, but she didn't expect to receive such a serious and heartfelt answer.

This time, however, he didn't avoid Zhou Mo's gaze. Instead, he walked over, bent down slightly, and stared straight at Zhou Mo. "I'm different from you. I only care about you."

While drinking water, Zhou Mo pressed her slightly cool palms against Yu Xi's forehead.

Have you been doing your practice problems lately?

"Yes, I did the weekly test, but no one is grading it."

"Give me the red pen. If your grades drop, hmph." Zhou Mo raised her fist in a show of force, and Yu Xi mimicked her fear.

The two looked at each other and smiled.

Nothing has changed.

Something seems to have changed again.

Yu Xi's paper was easy to grade. Her problem-solving approach for the essay questions was clear, and for the multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions, Zhou Mo only needed to tick the boxes.

"Guess how many points you got?" Zhou Mo held the test paper to her chest and raised an eyebrow at Yu Xi.

Yu Xi: "I guess, full marks."

"You guessed right, you really have a talent for math."

Zhou Mo turned the test paper around so that the side with the score was facing Yu Xi, with the bright red 150 points in the upper right corner being the most eye-catching.

"Do you want to participate in the competition? Someone with your brain is best suited for competitions."

"They're still making plans for me."

Zhou Mo reached out and flicked Yu Xi's forehead. "What do you think?"

Yu Xi suddenly grabbed Zhou Mo's wrist, and an inexplicable atmosphere swirled between them, their intense, uncontrollable heartbeats returning once more.

"Zhou Mo, let's get married."

I just witnessed someone getting proposed to on the playground, and now it's my turn.

Zhou Mo's mind went blank, her proud logical system completely collapsed, and even though she wasn't nearsighted, she couldn't see Yu Xi's face clearly. Her gaze was blank and unfocused, like a toy that had run out of power.

Yu Xi, on the other hand, was much calmer, perhaps because he was the one who proposed the plan.

The screeching sound of the chair being pulled out didn't wake Zhou Mo, but the impact of her knee hitting the ground, though so light it was almost silent, was deafening to her ears.

Yu Xi knelt on one knee, a classic marriage proposal pose.

However, he didn't have a ring on his hand, and Zhou Mo didn't have any flowers in her arms.

"I know this is sudden, but I want to gamble everything for the rest of my life. Zhou Mo, I love you more than I ever imagined. Please marry me."

Zhou Mo felt like she couldn't breathe, and her face was burning. She wondered if it was because she couldn't breathe properly or because she was shy.

"good."

Yu Xi was not surprised by Zhou Mo's answer at all. He lifted Zhou Mo's left hand and kissed the base of her ring finger.

"Zhou Mo, let's register our marriage next weekend."

Zhou Mo's tears flowed down her cheeks without warning. "Okay."

For the next two days of the weekend, the two stayed together, as if they had returned to the most comfortable time of the past. Yu Xi also ate the walnut stewed pears made by Zhou Mo.

"You can't eat anymore."

"Studying is tiring, I need to replenish my brain."

Zhou Mo, wearing an apron, stood with her hands on her hips and a shovel in her right hand. "What are you tired of? You kept bothering me with yesterday's test paper, and I wrote most of it for you."

Yu Xi grinned, her teeth so white they almost blinded Zhou Mo. "I'm testing you. Everyone says college students' brains are getting worse every day. I'm afraid your abilities are declining and you'll mislead others."

"Yu Xi!"

Zhou Mo chased Yu Xi all over the house with a shovel.

In the end, Yu Xi could only hide in his own room. This time, he didn't lock it. It was like a carefully prepared trap, waiting for its prey to willingly walk in.

The moment the doorknob was pressed down, Yu Xi revealed a genuine smile.

"Come on, Zhou Mo."
