Moonset Cool Night (9)

Moonset Cool Night (9)

"Everyone, enjoy your meal and don't be polite. I watched Li Zhaoyue grow up, and now that she's married, I feel relieved." Feng Ran said with a smile.

Li Zhaoyue followed his disciple through the banquet hall and slowly walked towards the high platform where the wedding would be held. At this moment, the guidance suddenly stopped, and all around became very quiet.

A pair of red cloth shoes stopped in front of her. Li Zhaoyue's hand holding the red silk cloth suddenly tightened, and she swallowed nervously.

Xie Feng didn't say anything and extended his hand.

"This... doesn't seem to be in accordance with the rules?" Li Zhaoyue asked softly. But there was still no movement around her. The disciple who had led her here seemed to have left. She had no choice but to hold the hands in front of her.

Xie Feng held her hand and walked slowly forward.

There was no cheering, no noise. Li Zhaoyue felt an inexplicable suspicion in his heart. He tried to pull his hand away, but it was held tightly.

"Afeng, what's wrong with you?" she asked.

Xie Feng didn't answer, but just kept walking forward. Li Zhaoyue's vision was blocked by the veil, so she couldn't see his face, but only the pair of red cloth shoes.

Fortunately, the road soon came to an end. Li Zhaoyue peeked out from under her veil and spotted a pair of feet on the seat in front of her, which gave her some peace of mind. Recalling the disciples' casual chatter while she was dressing, she couldn't help but worry about Xie Feng's health. He was already busy, and she had been in a bad mood the past few days, so all the preparations for the wedding fell on him.

He must be very tired, otherwise he wouldn't be silent all the time.

"Afeng, I'm sorry to have tired you out these days preparing for the wedding, but it will be fine after today..." Before she could finish her words, she was pulled to bend down.

This first bow was to heaven and earth. She finished the bow in a daze, then was led by Xie Feng to turn around and bend down to bow again.

The second bow was to the parents. Li Zhaoyue had no parents, and his master had passed away. Although Xie Feng had reluctantly agreed to return to the Xie family, he still refused to acknowledge his father. Therefore, Feng Ran sat in the hall.

After their final bow, the two stood facing each other, Xie Feng still holding her hand tightly, as if afraid she would slip away. Although Li Zhaoyue felt strange, she kept in mind Xie Feng's overwork these past few days and wanted to lend him a hand, so she didn't let go.

The platform was still very quiet. Li Zhaoyue thought it was Xie Feng's arrangement and didn't think too much about it in order to avoid making her feel nervous. Unexpectedly, the silent atmosphere was broken in an instant.

A sharp cry rang out, and then Li Zhaoyue felt a force coming from above her head, directed at her veil. Xie Feng stepped forward gently, blocking the force.

"Afeng?" She called softly, a little confused.

"He's not Xie Feng at all! Li Zhaoyue, the person standing next to you is Xu Xing!"

Li Zhaoyue recognized the voice as He Shuyu's and stepped back suddenly. The hands holding her tightened instantly. She tried to lift the veil, but her hands were forcibly locked behind her back.

The familiar aroma of bitter tea wafted through Li Zhaoyue's nose, and her breathing stagnated. She subconsciously took a few steps back. The shoes followed her a few steps. Li Zhaoyue wanted to run, but her body went limp for no apparent reason, and she could hardly move. Perhaps because her rejection was too obvious, the hands pulling her increased their strength. With a stronger pull, she fell forward involuntarily. Xu Xing squeezed her tightly into his arms and sneered, "Don't you want to see me that much?"

"Ayue."

This call completely pinned her to the spot. Li Zhaoyue was stunned and asked, "Why is it you?"

Ever since she saw Lou Daoyan steal the formation from Zhu Mingyuan, she told Xie Feng that night. The two guessed that someone must be causing trouble in secret. Since the formation was taken away, Li Zhaoyue, who was related to the formation, was naturally their target as well.

After over two years of investigation, the two began investigating the Black Cult and uncovered numerous findings, including evidence of collusion among several major families. Li Zhaoyue wasn't eager to publicly disclose this shocking list, but instead uncovered a more subtle clue: the sacred bone. The rebellion was almost entirely aimed at the Xie family's sacred bone, which, if married to the heir to the Xie family's patriarch, would serve as a lucky charm, warding off disasters for both bride and groom.

Before she recovered her memory, she wanted to use the divine bone to lure out the person behind the scenes. After she recovered her memory, she had another goal - to take back the divine bone, repair her remaining memories, and seek revenge.

But no matter how much they thought about it, Li Zhaoyue and Xie Feng never expected that the person who came was Xu Xing.

"What? Are you disappointed that the person you are going to marry is not Xie Feng?" Xu Xing's voice was faintly filled with anger. He hugged her closer, wishing he could melt her into his bones and blood.

Another sword energy passed by Li Zhaoyue's shoulder, nearly lifting her veil. It was Xu Xing who reached out in time to block the Meteor Sword's energy.

"Xu Xing, how dare you come here again?" It was Xie Feng's voice. Li Zhaoyue finally heard someone else's voice and tried to struggle again, but Xu Xing held her head down and sent her flying out.

The noise and sounds of fighting suddenly rushed to his ears. Those sounds were obviously very close, but Li Zhaoyue was held tightly in Xu Xing's arms and had no chance to come into contact with anyone except him.

Xie Feng, Meteor Sword in hand, approached at breakneck speed. Xu Xing tapped his waist, and a white sword appeared in his right hand. Li Zhaoyue felt a sudden dizziness, and Xu Xing pushed back the Meteor Sword's energy, creating a strange vortex of spiritual energy that stopped anyone who might pursue him at the Yiziyuan Mountain Gate.

"Let me go, Xu Xing!" Li Zhaoyue yelled. Xu Xing ignored her and continued to fly forward with her. Unable to bear it any longer, Li Zhaoyue summoned the First Sun Sword and slashed at Xu Xing with a powerful blow.

The red veil was lifted, revealing her red-faced face before Xu Xing. In her haste, the golden tassels in Li Zhaoyue's hair swayed relentlessly, making a crisp, clattering sound. Xu Xing's eyes darkened, and he stood there motionless, staring intently into her eyes.

The devastating sword energy came crashing down like a tidal wave, yet Xu Xing actually tried to reach out to block it. Li Zhaoyue sneered and swung her sword, hoping to use the force to force Xu Xing to let go. Unexpectedly, not only did he not let go, he actually charged towards her sword.

In shock, Li Zhaoyue had to hastily sheath his sword, but the attack of the Chu Ri Sword was too fierce, and part of the sword tip had already sunk into the flesh of Xu Xing's chest.

The rain was getting heavier, and the dripping raindrops formed a huge net, covering Li Zhaoyue.

I can't breathe.

The earthy smell of rain and blood mixed together, making him irritable for no apparent reason. Li Zhaoyue couldn't suppress the rage that was rising in him, and growled, "Are you going to die?"

This question melted into the sound of dripping rain, carrying a familiar flavor. Xu Xing was lost in thought for a long time, saying nothing. He simply raised his hand to help her tidy up her messy veil, and curled the corners of his lips.

"You put away the sword, which proves that you still care about me, right?" he asked.

The First Sun Sword was still stuck in his chest. They were clearly still enemies, even with a group of Taoist elites chasing them. Yet, he acted like he was just strolling in the garden with her, asking such a question. Li Zhaoyue thought he was crazy. Holding the First Sun Sword, she threatened him, "If you don't let me go, this sword will immediately pierce your heart. You will die right here. Think carefully about the consequences."

"Consequences?" Xu Xing chuckled softly and asked back. Li Zhaoyue was stunned, not knowing why he could still laugh.

The veil obscured her view so much that she had no chance of seeing Xu Xing's expression. Fortunately, she was covered, and fortunately, she couldn't see. At this moment, although Xu Xing was still dressed like a handsome young man, his expressive eyes were now bloodshot, and his face was as pale as a ghost. He looked truly terrifying.

"What consequences do I care about? Huh? Tell me?" He stretched out his hand and flicked the blade of the Chu Ri Sword, ignoring the cuts from the sword energy.

With a clang, Li Zhaoyue's wrist went numb, and the Churi Sword nearly slipped from her grasp. She gathered herself and spoke, "Later... I remembered a lot of things. Even if you hadn't killed my master, I would have killed her. You're Wei Zhegu's apprentice, and we're enemies, but you did me a favor by killing him. From now on, there's no grudge between us. You don't have to worry about my revenge, and I won't interfere with any of your decisions..."

"I don't understand," Xu Xing suddenly interrupted her. "I don't understand," he repeated childishly and stubbornly. Li Zhaoyue was silent for a while, then reached out her other hand and tentatively placed it behind his back.

Seeing that he didn't have any objection, she patted him gently.

"We will have no relationship anymore, Xu Xing. Whether you accept it or not, this is the fact." She said helplessly.

The rain was getting heavier, and the lingering warmth on his vest quickly dissipated. Xu Xing squinted his eyes, watching the rain slowly become a barrier separating the two of them. He suddenly reached out, wanting to hold her hand, but found that Li Zhaoyue avoided him with a cold and distant look.

He stretched out his hand and caught the rain, which finally all flowed through his fingers.

"It's nothing, it's nothing?" Xu Xing repeated this twice, and suddenly calmed down. He relaxed his grip on Li Zhaoyue, as if he had taken her words to heart.

After a while, Xu Xing released all his grip on her and even took a few steps back.

"You mean, the fact that you said you liked me doesn't count anymore?" There was an unspeakable bitterness in Xu Xing's voice.

Li Zhaoyue's eyes dimmed, and he pursed his lips slightly, as if sighing, "Yes."

"Never mind."

"Go away." Xu Xing lowered his eyes, his shoulders trembled slightly, and his hands clenched into fists, forcing himself to accept this cruel reality.

"Let's go before I regret it."

A cool breeze rustled Li Zhaoyue's veil, and the lily-of-the-valley tassels in her hair swayed gently, making a crisp sound. She hesitantly looked up at Xu Xing. Although he appeared to be wearing a red dress, a closer look revealed a cyan undershirt. It seemed the red wedding gown had been hastily put on and was ill-fitting.

The memory of Ah Xu standing beside the woman in red gradually overlapped with Xu Xing in his wedding gown. Li Zhaoyue breathed hard, turned abruptly, and flew out.

As she had just said, they had no relationship anymore.

There will be no relationship anymore.

Just as she turned around, the other end of the First Sun Sword suddenly sank into something extremely soft. A faint smell of rust washed over her nose, and Li Zhaoyue's hand trembled, and she let go of the First Sun Sword.

The smell of cold tea returned, carrying an irresistible flavor. Xu Xing reached out and slowly approached the hilt of the Churi Sword. No matter how many scars the sharp sword energy inflicted on his hand, he refused to retreat. Finally, Li Zhaoyue could smell an even stronger scent of blood.

He thrust the Sword of the First Sun into his heart.

She stared blankly at the blood dripping on the ground, then suddenly turned around and ran.

"I gave you a chance to escape," Xu Xing said darkly, his eyes fixed on Li Zhaoyue's back. He took out his milky white sword and waved it at her. Suddenly, her body lost control and she turned and ran towards him.

"I gave you a chance." His eyes were empty, and he gave a strange smile to the terrified Li Zhaoyue. Then he raised his hideous and terrifying hands that were cut by sword energy and hooked them at her gently.

"This way we are related, Li Zhaoyue. Now you hurt me, we are related."

"You're a lunatic!" Li Zhaoyue couldn't believe what Xu Xing had become. The gentle young man he once was was gone, and the demon standing before her was his true form. Out of fear, she didn't even think of using the First Sun Sword to fight back, and just punched and kicked Xu Xing with all her might.

But Xu Xing didn't care about the pain at all. He was like a soul that had lost its five senses and was about to step into death. He was not afraid of anything.

"Crazy, mad!" He laughed, locked her wrists forcibly, and pulled her back into his arms.

"I am a madman. I should have been crazy a long time ago."
