Chapter 121 His Obsession 1

Chapter 121 His Obsession 1

The afternoon sun shines through the corridor windows, casting warm spots of light on the ground.

Ji Siyun, wearing a well-tailored dark suit, followed his homeroom teacher, Mr. Li, and his steady footsteps echoed in the quiet corridor.

Looking at the young man with outstanding temperament beside him again, Teacher Li still felt a little surprised.

She had seen him in the news—he was admitted to University A as the provincial top scorer at the age of sixteen, the artificial intelligence algorithm he developed during his freshman year won an international award, and he completed all his credits at the age of nineteen.

Such an outstanding person rejected a full scholarship offer from Stanford and chose to stay in China. When reporters asked why, he smiled faintly at the camera and said, "I have a troublesome little ancestor at home to take care of."

I didn't expect that this favored child of heaven would appear here in such an identity.

"You're Song Youning's brother, right?" Teacher Li glanced sideways at him, his tone slightly inquiring. "This situation is rather unusual. Why aren't your parents here?"

"My parents had something urgent to deal with at work and can't get away." Ji Siyun's voice was calm, without much emotion. "It would be the same if I handled it."

Teacher Li nodded, a look of worry on his face. "That's fine. Mr. Ji, to be honest, Song Youning's recent condition... is indeed worrying. Her grades have dropped significantly."

She paused, looked at Ji Siyun's slightly furrowed brow, and sighed, "This child has always been excellent and well-behaved, but recently her personality has suddenly changed. I'm worried that she may have encountered some difficulties."

Listening to the teacher's words, Ji Siyun looked thoughtful, thinking carefully about whether there was anything wrong with Song Youning these days.

The teacher hesitated as a thought crossed her mind. She then chose her words more cautiously, "Student Song Youning seems to be getting closer to a boy in the class lately. Children of this age tend to have some vague feelings or fluctuations."

She carefully observed Ji Siyun's reaction, "Of course, it could also be that we are overthinking it."

Are you close to male classmates?

Ji Siyun's footsteps paused almost imperceptibly, and a barely perceptible dark light flashed across the depths of his deep eyes, like an undercurrent suddenly surging beneath the calm surface of a lake, carrying a hint of danger, but it disappeared in a flash, so fast that it was impossible to capture.

The teacher didn't notice and continued, "Adolescents are emotionally sensitive. As teachers, we still need to communicate more and provide more guidance."

She changed the subject and finally got to the point: "The main reason I asked you here today is because Youning had an argument with another classmate and it almost came to a head. I asked several classmates, and they didn't say anything excessive. They were just chatting normally. I don't know why she reacted so strongly."

She shook her head helplessly. "I also asked Song Youning the specific reason, but she refused to say anything and was very resistant. Considering her current condition, Mr. Ji, do you think it would be better to take her home first, have a good talk with her, and then return to school after she calms down?"

Ji Siyun nodded, his tone calm: "Okay, thank you for your help, teacher. I will take her back first."

As they talked, they pushed open the door of the teacher's office.

The afternoon sun poured in, illuminating the office.

Song Youning was standing by the window, wearing a blue and white school uniform skirt, with her hands resting on the edge of the desk and her head slightly lowered.

A breeze blew in, gently ruffling her black hair. She stood against the light, the lines of her profile appearing particularly clear and beautiful in the halo, with a youthful elegance and tenacity.

Ji Siyun's gaze fell on her, and his heart seemed to be hit by something, neither light nor heavy, and it beat faster for a few beats. He was actually stunned for a moment.

But he quickly collected himself and his face regained its usual serious expression.

Hearing the noise at the door, Song Youning turned his head to look at the person who came.

The young man who entered was tall and straight, his well-tailored dark suit outlining his broad shoulders and narrow waist. His black hair fell casually, slightly obscuring his delicate yet slightly cold features. His fair skin seemed almost transparent in the light.

Just by standing there, he was distinguished from his surroundings, with an unignorable presence.

Song Youning's gaze collided with Ji Siyun's. She was visibly stunned for a moment, then pursed her lips. With a hint of stubbornness and lingering anger, she quickly looked away and back out the window, leaving him with only a tense silhouette.

Ji Siyun saw her reaction clearly, but did not show it on his face. He just exchanged a few polite words with the teacher and thanked her for her concern.

"Then Song Youning, you should go back with your brother first, have a good rest and adjust your condition." The teacher said to Song Youning gently.

Song Youning silently picked up the schoolbag she had placed aside. Ji Siyun naturally reached out his hand, took the schoolbag, which looked not light, from her hand, and held it in his hand.

Song Youning glanced at him, moved his lips, but ultimately said nothing. He walked out of the office first in a huff, his steps quick.

Ji Siyun did not follow immediately. He nodded slightly to the teacher, then turned around and followed the angry figure slowly.

His deep gaze fell on her, with a hint of imperceptible complex emotions.

The two walked out of the school gate in silence, one in front and one behind, and came to the black car parked on the side of the road.

Song Youning stood by the passenger door, her face still stern, her hands crossed in front of her chest, her chin slightly raised. Her posture clearly showed that she was waiting for someone to open the door for her.

Ji Siyun looked at this young lady who looked so spoiled even when she was sulking, and a hint of indulgence flashed across his eyes. He stepped forward and, in accordance with her wishes, opened the car door for her.

Song Youning then condescended to sit down. During the action, Ji Siyun heard a very light sound in the air: "Hmph."

The corners of his lips unconsciously curled up into an imperceptible arc. After closing the door, he gently placed her schoolbag on the back seat before walking back to the driver's seat.

Inside the car, Song Youning still kept his arms crossed over his chest, looking straight ahead, as if the person next to him was air, and he even deliberately avoided touching the seat belt.

Ji Siyun glanced at her and said nothing. He just leaned over naturally and reached out to pull the seat belt on her side.

As he approached, a clear and pleasant scent instantly enveloped Song Youning. His broad shoulders were so close that she could even faintly feel the heat emanating from his body.

Song Youning's body subconsciously stiffened for a moment, and her heart skipped a beat. But then she remembered that she was still angry, and immediately tilted her head towards the car window, tightening her face and trying hard to maintain an attitude of "I'm very unhappy."

Her deliberate avoidance gave Ji Siyun an opportunity to look at her at close range.

His movements seemed to slow down a bit because of this.

His eyes first fell on her slightly bulging cheeks, which still had some of the soft baby fat of a girl. Now it looked even fuller because of her anger, and her skin was so delicate that even the tiny hairs were faintly visible in the sunlight.

The line of sight moves from the full and smooth forehead to the tall and delicate nose bridge, and then down to the tightly pursed lips with a bright red hue.

Even if it is pursed into a line, it still retains its attractive shape.

The sunlight streamed through the car window, dancing on her long eyelashes and casting two rows of uneasy, trembling shadows. Every time her eyelashes trembled, it was like a feather gently scratching Ji Siyun's heart.

His eyes lingered on her face almost greedily, with a blatant obsession and desire.

Normally she would stare at him with her lively eyes or smile slyly, and he rarely had the opportunity to depict her face so freely.

He could even see the tiny blood vessels on her earlobe, and the faint pink that gradually spread to the tip of her ear, which she could no longer control because of his proximity and gaze.

Time seemed to be stretched at this moment.

It was not until a crisp "click" sound and the seat belt buckle returned to its place that Ji Siyun was suddenly awakened from his momentary indulgence.

He hastily withdrew his gaze, also retracting that overly explicit look, and sat up straight again. His fingertips seemed to still retain the subtle warmth of her that he felt when he touched the seat belt.

A secret regret welled up in my heart.

After he sat back down, Song Youning showed no sign of "reconciliation". Instead, he shrank back towards the car door as if to draw a line between them, trying to keep as much distance between them as possible.

Ji Siyun noticed her little action, his eyes darkened slightly, and a trace of displeasure passed through his heart, but he did not show anything. He just started the car silently until the car drove smoothly into the villa garage and stopped.

He didn't get out of the car immediately. Instead, he turned sideways and looked helplessly at the girl who was still sulking beside him. He reached out his hand, and gently touched her tense arm with his fingertips. His voice was low, with obvious doting and indulgence: "What's wrong, my eldest lady? Who made you unhappy?"

Song Youning seemed to have touched a switch, and slapped his hand away with a slap, his voice muffled and aggrieved: "I don't want to pay attention to you!"

Although she said this, she could get out by simply opening the car door, but she didn't move at all. She just stubbornly turned her back to him, obviously waiting for him to coax her.

Ji Siyun looked at his hand being slapped away, his eyes dimming for a moment, but soon filled with patience and tenderness again. There was even a hint of helpless smile in his tone: "Okay, you can ignore me. But you have to let me die knowingly, right? What did I do wrong to offend our Ningning?"

Hearing his smiling tone, Song Youning felt even more aggrieved and angry. She turned her head abruptly, staring at him with her beautiful almond-shaped eyes, and her words were filled with a strong sense of bitterness that she herself didn't even notice: "No! How could you possibly offend me? You are a perfect model brother!"

She deliberately emphasized the pronunciation of the word "brother", which accurately hit the most hidden pain in Ji Siyun's heart.

The gentle expression on his face almost broke, his fingertips curled slightly, but his voice remained steady and smiling: "You don't look like you're okay. So, what did I do wrong? Ningning, tell me so I can know how to comfort you, right?"

His attitude made it impossible for Song Youning to vent his pent-up emotions.

She lowered her head unhappily, like a deflated ball, her fingers unconsciously scratching at the seatbelt. Her voice became smaller, filled with deep loss and uneasiness: "You're already in a relationship, why are you trying to coax your girlfriend instead of me?"

"Girlfriend?" Ji Siyun was stunned.

Song Youning lowered his head and continued to pick at his fingers. His tone was low and a little aggrieved: "Just a few days ago, I went to your school to look for you, and I saw it all!"

"You two walked out of the library together, talking and laughing, and that girl was smiling happily at you..."

Looking at her like this, Ji Siyun suddenly remembered that she had agreed a few days ago to come to the school to find him and go home together. As a result, he waited for her at the school gate for a long time but didn't see her. Later, he called her, and she just said on the phone that she was not feeling well and went home first.

At the time, he was so preoccupied with worrying about her health that he didn't even notice the unnatural stiffness and depression in her voice. It turned out that from that moment on, this little ancestor had been secretly filled with jealousy, and it had been fermenting for several days!

After finally figuring out what was going on, Ji Siyun felt relieved.

He reached out and gently supported her shoulders, turning her around so that she was facing him. He looked into her eyes seriously and patiently explained, "Ningning, you misunderstood. I was just looking up information in the library that day. When I was leaving, I ran into a classmate from the same department. She had a question she didn't quite understand, so she came up to ask me. You saw us coming out together because I had just finished answering her question. We weren't familiar with each other at all and didn't even exchange a few words."

Hearing him say this, Song Youning's sour feeling that had been suppressed in her heart for several days instantly dissipated for the most part, but she still felt a little uncomfortable in her heart, and she couldn't muster up the energy. She just said "oh" softly, still feeling listless.

Seeing that she was still not interested, Ji Siyun thought she didn't believe him, so he added: "Really, I don't even have the contact information of that girl."

Song Youning shook his head, his mood still low, and called him softly: "Ji Siyun..."

Ji Siyun was stunned for a moment, then he corrected her helplessly, "Call me brother."

Song Youning shook his head and muttered softly: "You are not my brother."

Ji Siyun didn't understand why she was so angry. Just as he was about to speak, he saw her raise her head. Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes were covered with a thin layer of mist. She looked at him wetly and asked softly, "If you were in a relationship, would you... not treat me as well as you do now?"

This look made Ji Siyun's heart tremble violently, and another deeper emotion buried in his heart surged up. He tried his best to restrain those feelings that could not be known by others, and almost subconsciously, blurted out: "No."

Song Youning blinked in surprise, as if he didn't expect him to answer so straightforwardly.

Ji Siyun stared at her closely with his dark, deep eyes. His tone was more serious than ever before, even carrying a solemn promise: "If someone appears in the future and insists that she is more important than you, then I will not be with her."

He paused, then spoke clearly, word by word, "Because Ningning is the most important person to me, now and in the future."

The moment these words came out of his mouth, Ji Siyun himself was shocked.

The emotions and possessiveness contained in it had long since surpassed the scope of "brother". He almost immediately felt guilty, afraid that his secret thoughts would be exposed under her clear eyes.

He quickly suppressed his overly exposed emotions and deliberately used a tone that was more like a caring brother, trying to downplay the overly solemn promise he had just made. It was also like he was warning himself to draw a clear line: "So, I won't fall in love. Ningning is still young, so don't fall in love either, okay?"

Song Youning seemed to be still immersed in the shock brought by his previous words. She was stunned for a moment by his sudden change of subject and did not answer immediately.

Her momentary silence made Ji Siyun's heart sink. A bad premonition, like a cold snake, coiled around his heart.

He couldn't help but think of the teacher's subtle reminder today.

Could it be...

A thought that made his heart suddenly tighten came to his mind uncontrollably.

He stared at her, his voice unconsciously carrying a hint of tension and tentativeness that he himself hadn't noticed, and asked softly: "Could it be... Ningning already has someone she likes?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Ji Siyun saw that Song Youning's fair cheeks were quickly covered with a layer of delicate blush at a speed visible to the naked eye, like white jade dyed with clouds, and spreading all the way to the ears.

Her eyes instantly became as flustered as a frightened deer, and she avoided his gaze hastily, her voice stumbling and filled with an eagerness she tried to conceal: "No! Who, who has it?"

After saying that, she hurriedly pushed open the car door and got out without looking back. Her slender figure with obvious panic disappeared quickly into the villa door.

Ji Siyun did not move or chase after him.

He was left alone in the suddenly quiet carriage, as if all his strength had been drained away. His gaze followed the direction she disappeared in, dark and incomprehensible emotions swirling in his eyes: danger, gloom, and, deeper still, a tremendous pain that threatened to consume him.

He tightened his hands on the leather seat, his knuckles turning bluish-white from the excessive force, and the veins on the back of his hands bulged out hideously.

The pain came like a flood.

How could he...how could he dare to have such disgusting thoughts about the daughter of his adoptive parents whom he treated as his own?

The Song family's parents treated him with great kindness, and Ningning was their most precious treasure in the world, and the sister he vowed to protect for his entire life.

She relied on him, trusted him, and treated him wholeheartedly as her dearest brother.

But he...had such unbearable and immoral feelings for her.

This realization made him loathe himself to the extreme. He felt like a despicable thief, stealing warmth that did not belong to him, and also fostering greed for treasures.

But he couldn't control it.

Every heartbeat, every uncontrollable throbbing when he got close, was mocking his poor self-control.

What made him even more miserable was that whenever he thought about Song Youning's unusual reaction just now, it might mean that she really had another boy in her heart, a boy who could make her smile, make her rely on him, or even... let her touch him...

A wave of jealousy and panic that almost tore him apart swept over him madly.

He couldn't imagine, couldn't accept, that there would be another person more important than him around his Ningning.

He can't do it.

Ji Siyun closed his eyes in pain and rested his forehead on the cold steering wheel.

Reason and emotion were tearing apart in his body. On one side were the shackles of morality and deep guilt, and on the other side were the possessiveness and love that had penetrated deep into his bones and could not be eradicated.

He was trapped in this hopeless vortex, unable to move forward or backward.
