Chapter 58 The Water is Cold
Gurgle gurgle gurgle.
Large amounts of cold liquid flowed into the nasal cavity, salty and fishy water continued to flow into the throat, and bubbles kept pouring out of the mouth.
Ji Siyun heard the buzzing sound of air being squeezed out of his chest.
The sea water mixed with bubbles ripples, taking away body temperature from the nose, throat, skin, and other parts of the body.
Even sunlight could not penetrate the gloomy water surface. The edge of Ji Siyun's vision was pitch black, and the light in front of him gradually went out.
It was so dark... so cold... Ji Siyun felt as if he was back in the cold pond in that small mountain village.
"You bastard!"
"You are what you are, like your father. Bah! Go to hell!"
The curses seemed to ring in his ears, and he didn't even struggle, his body sinking down.
"Splash", the rippling water surface cracked and someone jumped down.
Ji Siyun opened his eyes in the water, and Song Youning's long hair was spread out, floating in the water like dense seaweed.
The round almond-shaped eyes were firm and gradually became the same eyes as in his memory, but this time, there was a hint of anxiety in the lighter pupils.
She came to rescue him.
Just as her consciousness was about to fall into darkness, Ji Siyun stretched out his arms towards her.
A slender hand tightly grasped his outstretched arm and swam him quickly to the surface.
Song Youning pulled Ji Siyun out of the water. She was so tired that she was out of breath and felt a little scared.
If anything happens to Ji Siyun, she's done for!
"You're wearing a life jacket and still sinking? Are you stupid?" She didn't even have time to wait for someone to pull Ji Siyun up. She turned around and yelled at him, "Why did you follow me to the sea when you're seasick and can't swim?"
She was really scared to death!
The older brother on the motorboat felt a little uncomfortable seeing her harsh tone: "Why don't you let him come up first and then scold him?"
Song Youning's chest was heaving violently. She took a breath, calmed herself down and looked at Ji Siyun.
The young man was coughing violently, his jet-black hair soaked in sea water hung down on his forehead. His face was pale, but his eyes were red. His face was wet with sea water and tears from choking.
Now I'm really like a drowned puppy.
Song Youning suppressed the anger that arose from fear and lifted Ji Siyun onto the motorboat.
The young man was much heavier than she had imagined. Song Youning gritted her teeth and said: When I get back, I must enroll Ji Siyun in a swimming class!
After returning to the shore safely, both of them were soaked and their clothes were sticking to their bodies. It was really embarrassing to walk back like that.
Song Youning asked the motorboat driver for two bath towels and glanced at Ji Siyun, who had not spoken since she rescued him from the water.
The young man huddled together, keeping his head down. His drooping hair half-covered his face, and only his pale, tense jaw could be seen.
She walked up to him and stood still, the sea water dripping down the corners of his clothes. Song Youning picked up a bath towel and prepared to cover him with it. As soon as she raised her hand, the young man in front of her subconsciously took a step back, muttering, "No..."
His tall body was trembling, and he lowered his head as if he was trapped in some nightmare. He kept backing away, repeating in a low voice: "Don't hit me... I'm not... I'm not..."
Song Youning clenched the soft palm holding the bath towel and slowly approached him, his voice very soft.
"Jisyun, it's okay."
She stretched out her hand to him, and in the sunlight, her white and tender palm shone with a warm luster.
"It's me, I'm Song Youning."
Her voice had the power to soothe people, and Ji Siyun's lifeless eyes, who was trapped in the swamp of pain, gradually focused, but he still shook his head and stepped back.
He had dreamed too many times that she came to rescue him.
He has woken up from the dream too many times and has been disappointed too many times.
Song Youning did not continue to move closer to him. She stood there with her hands suspended in the air. Her voice was gentle yet firm.
"Jisyun, come here."
Ji Siyun shook his head in pain.
"No... I don't want to wake up... Miss... Miss is mine..."
"You're not dreaming." Song Youning's eyes were soft, and his tone was as gentle as if he was coaxing a child having a nightmare. "I'm right here, you can see me if you come over."
The young man, who had lowered his head, stopped walking backwards, as if he was lured by her, and raised his hand with thick knuckles tremblingly.
No, it's fake, she is lying to you.
But she is the eldest lady, and she is calling me over.
Two voices in his head seemed to be fighting. Ji Siyun got a headache and tentatively extended his hand to her but then retreated.
The corners of her lips turned up and she shook her palms slightly.
"You can try holding my hand to see if I'm real."
Ji Siyun closed his eyes, and his rough and cold hands trembled forward until he touched her warm fingertips, and then he regained his breath.
It’s true…I haven’t woken up from the dream…
Song Youning's eyes blurred, and Ji Siyun had already taken a step forward and held her tightly in his arms.
She could even feel his heart beating violently in his chest, thumping and pounding.
A warm hand rested on his back. When Ji Siyun's breathing gradually calmed down, Song Youning asked him, "Do you want to rest for a while before going back?"
Ji Siyun had woken up, nodded slightly and said okay.
There was still sunshine and the wind was not cold. Song Youning pulled Ji Siyun to find a bench under the shade of a tree and sit down.
Ji Siyun's condition just now was too abnormal. Song Youning wrapped a bath towel around him and asked, "Are you afraid of water?"
He pursed his lips and nodded slightly.
"Then why are you still here sea fishing?"
After asking this question, Song Youning felt that she was being unnecessary. Before Ji Siyun answered, she sighed heavily and couldn't help but tap his forehead with her hand.
Song Youning looked him in the eyes and said seriously, "Ji Siyun, if you feel uncomfortable in the future, you must speak up."
Her long eyelashes, like crow feathers, drooped slightly, casting two silhouettes on her pale cheeks. Ji Siyun bit his lips lightly and spoke in a soft tone.
"I don't want to spoil the fun for the young lady."
His soft lips formed a bitter arc, and he said dejectedly: "But it's still because of me. The young lady came back without playing. I'm so useless that I can't even do such a small thing."
"It's not that easy to overcome fear." Song Youning comforted him, "Don't be too hard on yourself."
Ji Siyun raised his face with emotion and leaned on her shoulder clingingly. He didn't feel embarrassed to lean on her despite his big stature.
People were coming and going on the beach, and they all covered their mouths and laughed when they saw the two of them in this reversed position.
Song Youning's ears turned red from being stared at. She pushed Ji Si and whispered unhappily, "Get up! There are so many people watching us!"
Ji Siyun held her arm tightly, resting his heavy head on her shoulder. His voice was a little aggrieved: "No, I almost died in the water today. Miss, please let me lean on you for a while."
The woman he was pressed against had a light pink blush on her cheeks, her almond-shaped eyes widened, and she poked his cheek with her slender white fingers.
"Ji Siyun!" She raised her eyebrows as if she found it ridiculous. "You fell into the water, didn't I?"
The fingers changed from poking to pinching, and Song Youning almost laughed out of anger.
"I worked so hard to rescue you. Do you know how heavy you were? I should be the one who's tired, okay?"
The young man let her pinch his face until it was deformed, rubbed his head gently on her shoulder, and hugged her arm to play tricks.
"I don't care, I won't let go."
His demeanor and movements were like he was acting like a spoiled child with her. Song Youning heard even more snickering sounds from the side. She was so angry that she secretly pinched the soft flesh on Ji Siyun's waist and scolded him through gritted teeth: "Ji Siyun, you have no shame. You are such a grown man and you still dare to act like a spoiled child to me."
Ji Siyun was pinched by her and grinned, his hot breath rushing into her hand: "I have no shame."
His body clung to her softly, and his tone was soft: "I want to be closer to the young lady."
Song Youning had no way to deal with his shameless look, so she could only pretend that those gazes were not there. She sighed, did not ask him to let her go, and continued with the previous topic.
"Did you hear what I just said to you?"
The young man's voice was hoarse beside my ear: "Hmm? What's the matter?"
Song Youning clicked his tongue.
"I told you to speak up next time you encounter this situation. It's not shameful to be afraid of water."
He chuckled, his hot breath spraying on her neck, "Miss is so good to me..."
Song Youning shook his neck and frowned, "Be serious, I'm talking to you about business."
In terms of age in the real world, she is much older than Ji Siyun. When she lectured him, she unconsciously used the tone of an elder.
"Look, if you had told me earlier that you were seasick and afraid of water, I definitely wouldn't have come sea fishing. You wouldn't have fallen into the water, and I wouldn't have had to jump in to save you, leaving us both in such a mess."
"Well... Miss is right..." Ji Siyun's voice was so soft that Song Youning could hardly hear it.
"There are so many things to do at the beach, I don't have to do this." Song Youning turned his eyes away and said, "I'm not the kind of person who doesn't know how to be considerate..."
The head resting on her shoulder became heavier and heavier, and gradually slid down.
"Hey, what's wrong with you?"
Song Youning hurriedly supported Ji Siyun. He was burning hot, with an abnormal blush on his pale cheeks. His dark eyes seemed unable to open, and he looked at her with a dazed look.
His breath was also hot, and dry skin appeared on his soft red lips. He gave her a smile that looked a little silly.
"The eldest lady is the best..."
The young man only looked thin, but he was quite heavy. Song Youning supported him with both hands with difficulty and asked for help from passers-by.
"Excuse me, could you please call an emergency number for me?"
Ji Siyun was seasick and fell into the water again. After sitting on the shore for a while, he began to have a high fever.
After finally helping the nurse to settle Ji Siyun down on the bed, Song Youning took a breath, picked up his bag and prepared to pay the bill.
She had just taken half a step when she felt something pulling her. She lowered her eyes and saw fingers that were stretched white tightly grasping the corner of her clothes.
Ji Siyun is awake?
She turned around and said to him, "Let go, I still have to go through the hospitalization procedures..."
Song Youning's voice became softer.
The young man on the bed had his eyes closed, sweat all over his forehead, his expression twisted and painful, and tears suddenly welled up in the corners of his eyes, flowing across his temples and seeping into the pillow.
Ji Siyun seemed to be having a nightmare.
Song Youning walked closer to him and gently wiped his tears with her fingertips, her tone filled with helplessness.
"Why are you so fond of crying? You even cry in your dreams."
He clenched his teeth, cried silently, his whole body was trembling, and his dry lips moved as he kept saying something.
Song Youning bent down and put her lips close to his.
"Miss..."
With a smile on her lips, Song Youning's eyes softened a little - Ji Siyun was indeed a love-brained person, he still called her even when he was sick.
The young man was still mumbling.
"The water is so cold...don't throw me in..."
The corners of Song Youning's lips drooped.
