Chapter 27 I'm Jealous
This was simply the best tomato and beef tenderloin pasta Ling Qiu had ever eaten. If Lululan hadn't been still unconscious, she would have loved to have another serving.
"Ling Qiu!?" Ron was taken aback. "What are you doing in my house?"
"You should remember you got infected, right?" Ling Qiu said. "How are you feeling now?"
Ron looked a little confused, but then he slowly remembered. At first, he only had a headache, but later his whole body started to ache, and the pain felt like his whole body was being burned by fire...
“But why do I feel like nothing’s wrong now?” Ron looked at himself all over. “I even feel a sense of ease I’ve never felt before, like I’ve been reborn.”
Ling Qiu hesitated, wanting to tell Ron the truth directly, but then she thought that she would have to say it all again when Lululan woke up. So she asked Ron to wait a while while she went to check on Lululan.
When Ron woke up, he went to the kitchen to get a drink and saw a tall, dark-skinned man sitting at the counter, drinking a cup of milk tea that seemed completely out of place with his appearance.
"Um..." Ron scratched his head and stepped forward, "May I ask who you are?"
Does he know this person? He has absolutely no recollection of him.
“Me? Ling Qiu’s boyfriend.” Anbot loosened his grip on the straw and glanced sideways at Ron. “But that’s not entirely accurate, after all, I’m still her fiancé.”
Ron blinked. It hadn't even been a month since he last met Ling Qiu, and she already had a fiancé?
Without realizing it, Ron began to scrutinize the man, and then he felt he understood why Ling Qiu had chosen him.
“You’re a free agent, right?” Ron took a can of soda from the refrigerator and sat down in front of the man. “I can understand Ling Qiu, after all… she was scared last time.”
"?" He frowned deeply. "What?"
What is this human saying as he murmurs his wife's name?
“Oh, you didn’t know?” Ron continued, “I was on a date with Ling Qiu before, and she thought my robotic arm had malfunctioned. She was a little scared… But that was definitely an accident. It’s a real shame, otherwise you wouldn’t be in this mess, buddy.”
Ron didn't even consider a free agent a worthy competitor.
What could a free man offer her? No money, no power, nothing, and certainly no way to protect her.
“However…” Ron chuckled, “Although she may think you’re a good choice now, in the long run, it would be better to marry someone with a cyborg, right? That way, she might be able to modify her genes, and her offspring wouldn’t have to be free.”
Ron didn't know why, even though he had gradually given up on the idea after Ling Qiu told him last time, when he saw that Ling Qiu had chosen a free man who was nothing, a sense of resentment welled up in his heart.
Why can free people do it, but he can't?
A strange emotion was tormenting Anbot. He could have simply annihilated this human or intimidated him to the point of trembling with fear, but now... He suddenly didn't want to do that.
Thinking this way makes it seem as if He is angry and embarrassed.
He was displeased with this human's words, but sometimes words are more hurtful than violence.
Just like now.
“Your name is Ron, right? Don’t you know that she and I have known each other longer than you have?” Anbote slowly swirled the milk tea cup in his hand. “In fact, we had physical contact before you did.”
“The only reason she met with you was because she didn’t want to refuse her poor friend, plus we did have a little unpleasantness between us those few days.” Anbote sat lazily at the dining table.
Ron suddenly had a feeling that the man in front of him was not "sitting" there, but rather "entwined" there.
“My fiancée can be a little playful at times, but overall she’s very well-behaved.” Anbot smiled and said, “After all, as a tolerant husband, I don’t need to be too concerned about my wife having some inappropriate physical contact with other men, don’t you think, Ron?”
“Especially,” He emphasized, “a man who is even worse than himself.”
"You...you're saying I'm inferior to you?!" Ron found the statement utterly absurd. "You're just a free man..."
“Who told you I’m a free man?” Ambot stood up. He was a head taller than Ron, and his superior proportions made him look strong and powerful.
He grabbed Ron's wrist and slammed it onto the table, looking down at him with disdain: "If you ask me, it's you deformed creatures who are just pretending to be machines that are trash."
When Ron struggled several times and found that he couldn't move at all, he was stunned. This man clearly didn't have any cybernetics. Could it be that he really wasn't...?
"What are you doing?" Ling Qiu, who had just finished disassembling the Lululan chip, came to the kitchen to get a glass of water. She had actually been listening for a while and didn't want to get involved because she was not good at dealing with this kind of situation. But since the two of them looked like they were about to fight, she had no choice but to step in.
Anbote released his grip, his expression indifferent, and casually said, "Just chatting."
"Hmm." Ling Qiu pretended not to hear anything and calmly poured herself a glass of water.
"Have you finished your work?" Amber asked, following behind her.
"Yes, now we just need to wait for Lululan to wake up."
The two walked to another corner, lowering their voices and whispering amongst themselves. Ron pursed his lips and could only silently drink his soda.
Ling Qiu leaned against the wall, looked up, and asked with interest, "If a wife has some inappropriate contact with other men, will a tolerant husband really not mind?"
Anbot paused for a moment, then lowered his eyes and stared at her with a calm gaze.
Ling Qiu was still waiting for His answer when she heard a voice that seemed to pierce her eardrums and penetrate her brain, as if someone was whispering close to her ear.
"If you dare, you'll die a horrible death."
“…” Ling Qiu gave a dry laugh.
“Since you’ve heard our conversation, you should be able to tell…” Anbot lowered his voice this time, whispering in her ear, “That Ron looks down on free agents. Didn’t you hear what he just said very clearly?”
Ling Qiu raised an eyebrow. Ron looked up to or looked down on free agents, but she didn't care at all. She could understand this feeling. When your friend has various flaws, you might not discriminate against him.
However, when someone with flaws in various aspects wants to compete with you for something or to woo you as a partner, it's hard not to show a sense of discrimination against them.
This is a common human failing; she completely understood Ron and didn't care.
But what is Ambot doing?
Does Ron's discrimination against free people have anything to do with Him?
She grabbed Anbote's waist and patted it twice, then looked up and said, "Bobo, if you do that, I'll think you're jealous."
That's impossible.
He would never be moved by a human being.
Ling Qiu continued to tease Him: "If you disagree with this statement, I'll kiss Ron. If you agree, I'll kiss you, how about that?"
Ling Qiu was actually a little confused about her own feelings at this moment, because she would never have acted so arrogantly in front of a monster before.
But now, she wanted to do it; a strong desire was driving her, even overshadowing her survival instinct.
She felt confident that Anbote wouldn't hurt her over something like this.
Ambert stared at her for a moment. He felt that this woman had become increasingly cunning without him noticing, but on the other hand, Ambert also felt that this was the easiest choice he could make.
Who wouldn't choose that?
"I was jealous," He readily admitted.
Ling Qiu couldn't help but laugh out loud. As promised, she wrapped her arms around Anbot's neck and kissed him on the cheek.
It was about half an hour later when Lululan woke up. Ling Qiu told her and Ron what she had learned.
Ling Qiu thought that the two of them would be very angry after hearing this, but neither Lululan nor Ron showed any such emotion.
Lululan looked on in astonishment: "How is this possible? Our company runs a children's charity fund every year, and many scholarships for impoverished students are issued by our company. He needs to run his company, so what good would it do him if so many people died?"
Ron said, "Could you be mistaken? I mean, maybe someone is manipulating things behind the scenes and then shifting the blame to the company."
“Yes, Qiuqiu!” Lululan said, “It’s not that we don’t believe the chips have been tampered with, but we have some suspicions… that the company might have been framed.”
Ling Qiu was silent for a moment: "Are you saying that Noah Corporation, which possesses world-class technology, a wealth of talent, and deep roots in government power, might have been framed by some nobody?"
"You two, that's entirely possible!" Ling Qiu clapped his hands. "You're both quick to react; how come I didn't think of that!"
Seeing the two of them react this way, Ling Qiu no longer wanted to prolong the stalemate.
She said, "In short, since the special medicine was useless, I have to quickly resell it while it's still valuable."
"No need, no need!" Ron hurriedly said, "Ling Qiu, you saved my life this time, I am very grateful to you... Just give me the special medicine, I will transfer the money directly to your account."
"No need for thanks. I owed you a favor last time, and I've paid it back this time," Ling Qiu said. "It's getting late, I'm going home."
"Hey Qiuqiu, I'll take you home..." Lululan was about to speak when her gaze fell on Anbote again, and she said instead, "Never mind, be careful on the road! Message me when you get home!"
Ling Qiu and Anbote left Ron's house and got into the car they had borrowed from Wang Zheng.
As soon as she got in the car, she heard Anbote say in a cheerful tone, "Neither of them wants to believe you, tsk tsk."
Ling Qiu raised an eyebrow and said, "Actually, it doesn't matter."
She was initially unhappy, but after leaving Ron's house and getting some fresh air, Ling Qiu suddenly understood what the two of them were thinking.
In Mant City, Noah Corporation is everything. Whether it's Lululan or Ron, everything they have is given to them by Noah Corporation. They live in the city center of Mant City, have a high status, and are even popular.
In Mante City, family ties are weak. To them, Noah Company is like a mother, and they worship the company as a god, supreme and unparalleled. Suddenly, they are told to break their preconceived notions and that the company is actually garbage. Of course, they cannot accept this.
That's why they reacted in the way just now, subconsciously looking for excuses from other people.
Ling Qiu couldn't comment, after all, she didn't know how she would react if she were also an employee of Noah Company and had a comfortable life.
"I'll deal with the special medicine first." Ling Qiu opened her Hilink account; she already had someone in mind to handle it.
She opened her account, unblocked the boss she had previously blocked, and casually sent a message: "Boss! I got my hands on some miracle drug, will you buy it?"
To her surprise, Zhou Bapi replied instantly: "You damned little beast! Where have you been?! Do you know how long I've been looking for you? Hurry up and give me back the money from last time! If I find out you've broken your promise, you can forget about working in this business anymore."
Ling Qiu burst into tears: "My God, boss! You have no idea what I've been through! Because I took that case, I've been hunted down! This period of time has been like living in hell! They've been spying on my life! I had no choice but to block everyone!"
"Now that the infectious disease has calmed things down, those people have finally quieted down! I went through a lot of trouble to get a bottle of this miracle drug. I'll sell it to you at a low price, boss. Do you need it? This stuff is sure to make a fortune in the future!"
After a while, the person on the other end seemed to believe her and asked, "How much?"
Ling Qiu had already checked the price of the special medicine, and because the number of infected people had increased dramatically, the price of the special medicine had risen considerably.
She said, "Considering how well you've taken care of me in the past, I'll sell it to you for a pittance of 150,000."
"150,000!? Q, are you dreaming!?"
Ling Qiu immediately displayed the price of the special medicine, saying, "Boss, the lowest price for this medicine right now is 180,000. If you feel you're losing money, you can buy it from me and resell it immediately!"
"What? Q, don't tell me you only gave me this business because you really admire the boss."
"How could that be? Boss, let's be realistic. You know I'm a free agent, and it's inconvenient for me to make transactions. If this thing is in my hands, I'm afraid it will be stolen."
Every word conveyed utmost sincerity, and after some negotiation, the other side agreed.
"Haha..." Ling Qiu slammed the computer shut. "That bitch is in for it!"
Ambote saw everything.
He spoke: "You seem to really dislike him, miss."
"Of course! I'd love for him to die!" Ling Qiu muttered, then slowly turned her gaze to Anbote.
"Husband..." She suddenly pressed herself against him, the sudden intimacy almost catching Anbot off guard.
He almost went straight over and kissed her, forgetting that he was still driving.
Ling Qiu slowly uttered the second half of her sentence: "How about you become my boss and we play some S/M?"
Author's Note: Qiuqiu: I really will pretend to play with you and then beat you to a pulp! ^ ^
