Chapter 35 We Break Up
marry?
Cyrus, who was contemplating whether to make tomato soup or seaweed soup for dinner, turned around after hearing the question. He stared into Ling Qiu's eyes, and Ling Qiu was also staring at him, motionless.
“I thought you absolutely had to get married in the fall,” He said. He remembered every word she had said. She had said she loved autumn and wanted to get married in the fall, but now it was only just the beginning of summer.
“That’s what I was thinking too.” Ling Qiu narrowed her eyes and said with a smile, “But my desire to marry you has suddenly become urgent. Don’t you want things to move forward a little faster, Cyrus?”
For some reason, He initially told her his real name because he wanted to hear her call His name in that hoarse, coquettish tone. But recently He suddenly discovered that she only knows how to pronounce the name Cyrus verbatim.
Instead of giving him a nickname like Bobo, like Amberton would.
He couldn't say which one he preferred.
"You mean..." He put down the knife in his hand, turned around and looked directly at Ling Qiu, "You want to marry me as soon as possible?"
“Yes,” Ling Qiu nodded, “I can’t wait! I want to become your bride as soon as possible!”
"See?" She stroked her jet-black hair. "My hair has grown longer. I think it will look beautiful when I wear my wedding dress and have my hair styled."
"You mean..." He hesitated slightly, "that you grew your hair long especially for me?"
"Of course!" Ling Qiu hugged him tightly, burying herself in his arms, just like a couple planning their wedding. "What else could it be? Don't you know? I used to have short hair."
Yes, Cyrus certainly remembered that.
But His original intention was only to harass and intimidate; He never thought that Ling Qiu would actually take those words to heart.
Of course, she looks really good with long hair.
But she's beautiful no matter what.
“I understand,” He said, feeling her gaze upon him through her black, pearl-like eyes. He began to feel something throbbing within the fabricated human body, below the chest. “I will prepare for the wedding properly.”
Ling Qiu shrugged. She didn't care about the form or process of the wedding at all; she only cared about the outcome. To put it another way, even if this really was her wedding, she didn't even have anyone she could invite.
There is only one Lululan.
Ling Qiu's gaze fell on Cyrus's figure, from the body she had personally customized, to his slender and clean hands, and then to the soup he was making.
I don't know when it started, but Cyrus suddenly developed a liking for cooking.
If I had to pinpoint it, it seems to have started with that brown sugar ginger tea, but strictly speaking, it wasn't food. Going back a bit further, it was the dark soup He prepared the morning after they made it.
To this day, Ling Qiu still doesn't know what ingredients that soup was made of. Even though it didn't smell strange at the time, it certainly didn't look appetizing.
However, on the last two occasions, the food He made was actually quite good, the kind that Ling Qiu thought was delicious, even better than many restaurants in Mante City. Ling Qiu didn't think that Cyrus's cooking skills could have improved so significantly in such a short period of time.
Ling Qiu began to wonder what that pot of black soup was. Could it just be something she had never seen before that was safe to eat?
Ling Qiu couldn't recall where the last pot of soup went, but she figured Cyrus probably wouldn't have drunk it himself, so the most likely scenario was that it was thrown away.
"Sethius." After finishing her meal, Ling Qiu swallowed the tomato soup in her mouth and called His name, "Can I ask you for a wedding gift?"
“Of course,” He replied matter-of-factly; even if she hadn’t asked, He would have prepared a gift.
"Hmm..." she deliberately drew out her words, "My gift might be big, and it might be a little difficult to arrange, but would you still agree to that?"
"Of course," Cyrus answered with great confidence, firmly believing that there was no human need that he could not fulfill.
A smile gradually appeared in Ling Qiu's eyes.
“You’re so kind, Cyrus,” she said softly. “I need your help with something.”
Cyrus looked up, waiting for her to continue.
“I want to…” Ling Qiu pursed her lips and clearly said, “Please help me get rid of Noah Company.”
After stating her request, she promptly added, "I'm willing to give everything for this. As long as you help me accomplish this, I'm willing to give you anything."
She felt she had made herself clear enough: as long as this matter was accomplished, Ling Qiu would give her anything, whether it meant her life or something else.
Moreover, with Cyrus's abilities, destroying a human company wouldn't be too difficult, would it?
"Is it okay, my dear..." Ling Qiu looked at Him expectantly. When she asked this question, she had already made up her mind that Cyrus had no reason not to agree.
If He could accept the sacrifice of 99 people in the past, why can't He accept the sacrifice of the entire Noah's hierarchy now? As long as He tells her the method, she can do all the preparations and fulfill His sacrificial ritual perfectly.
Moreover, with a buy-one-get-one-free offer, she could agree to any of His conditions.
Cyrus didn't care about human lives, so he had no reason to refuse.
During their eye contact, Ling Qiu looked at Cyrus in silence for a moment, then shook his head: "This won't do."
"Why?" Ling Qiu blurted out, looking at Him in confusion.
“It just won’t work,” He replied. “This cannot be a wedding gift, and I am unable to make it at the moment.”
Ling Qiu's eyes, which were about to sink into gloom, suddenly brightened: "Temporarily?"
She focused on His words and pressed, "Are there any conditions? Or any restrictions? You can tell me, and I'll do it!"
In her
"Is this why you want to marry me ahead of schedule?" He said, though it was a question, He spoke with certainty.
Ling Qiu bit her lip and replied naturally, "No, it's mainly because I like you. I'm willing to do anything for you, as long as you can help me accomplish this."
Although it was only a short time during which they spent together, Cyrus was already able to accurately judge her expression when she lied.
“Impossible.” His voice turned cold. “If that’s the case, I can’t help you with this.”
This cunning woman was actually unfaithful to their marriage.
Pacts are sacred to the ancient gods. They choose never to form a pact, or to remain in a pact with only one person for their entire lives. Even if one of them dies, they will try their best to resurrect him.
There is only one condition for a successful bond to be formed: both parties must be willing.
Just when He thought they had already met the conditions and were ready to form a pact, Ling Qiu's eyes were filled with calculation.
She didn't marry Him because she wanted Him; she wanted something else entirely.
Even so, even though He was angry about it, He did not intend to punish her. He did not even make a definitive statement; He left out the possibility that if Ling Qiu could immediately come to her senses and rethink the definition of this relationship, He would forgive her.
Marriage can be postponed indefinitely, but it must never be tainted in the slightest.
"You're not going to help me?" Ling Qiu frowned. "You have no intention of helping at all? Or is it because you have some kind of relationship with Noah's people? Cyrus, did you sign some kind of binding agreement with them?"
"What are you talking about?" Cyrus's gaze was gloomy. Ever since he made an exception for Ling Qiu, he had been in a very weak state. He hadn't even finished reading the content of Ling Qiu's past retracing, and had to leave halfway through due to the backlash.
Even so, He probably guessed that Ling Qiu's sudden abnormality was related to her past. She had found out the cause of her parents' death, and that the cause of death was related to Noah.
She wanted to get rid of Noah, but made it a condition for forming a pact.
This made Cyrus very angry.
Most importantly, He could see with perfect clarity the cold, scrutinizing look in Ling Qiu's eyes as she stared at Him. This made Cyrus feel that everything she had said to Him before was a lie.
Cyrus felt he was already generous enough; he could accept that this woman lied to him for various reasons, but he could not accept that every word she said was a lie.
He remembers how many times she said she liked Him, how many times she said she thought He was cute. How could these be false?
“I can give you another chance, Ling Qiu.” Cyrus’s expression turned serious. “Reconsider what you just said, otherwise the wedding will have to be postponed indefinitely, and I will not grant you any more requests.”
"Give me another chance?" Ling Qiu chuckled softly. "Postpone it indefinitely?"
She simply didn't have that kind of time, and if Cyrus chose not to help her, she would just give up on the relationship.
"I don't think that's necessary," Ling Qiu said in a low voice, pointing to the door. "You can just leave."
Cyrus was stunned, incredulous: "What did you say?"
"Don't you understand? We've broken up." Ling Qiu left the dining table and opened the door directly for him. "You're of no use to me anymore. This is my home. Please leave now."
"You're kicking me out?"
“That’s right.” Ling Qiu’s eyes were unfriendly. “Leave now, or you can choose to kill me now. But as far as I know, killing me now will not do you any good, right? If you insist on doing so, I can’t stop you.”
After saying that, she closed her eyes, not intending to look at Cyrus again.
"When I open my eyes, either you leave, or you make sure I can never open my eyes again. The choice is yours, Cyrus."
