Chapter Thirty-One
The plane landed at JFK Airport at night, and as soon as the first-class cabin door opened, a tall figure rushed out. Her loose black cashmere trousers clung to her legs in the wind, and Su Xuan strode towards the approaching staff in her high heels.
The car drove slowly on the airport's concrete road. Su Xuan repeatedly checked the time on her phone, hoping the car could go a little faster.
At the front of the enormous private jet, a flight attendant took her suitcase, and Su Xuan hurriedly followed up the gangway into the cramped lounge. She quickly changed into the uniform that had been prepared for her, put her hair up, and then sat down on the bed.
Su Xian gasped for breath, thankfully she made it in time. Just thinking about what she had to do next made her smile.
There were faint noises outside the lounge. After a while, she felt the plane begin to taxi and climb. She'd been waiting a while, and Su Xian's eyelids started to droop. She'd barely slept on the flight to New York.
She had just closed her eyes when the door to the lounge opened. Su Xian jolted awake and sat up straight. A blonde flight attendant stood in the doorway and nodded to her. Su Xian followed her quietly into the cabin.
Another flight attendant waiting there handed Su Xian a tray of hot milk, then gave her a thumbs-up. Su Xian silently thanked her, picked up the tray, and walked down the corridor.
In front of the dark porthole, a person sitting on the sofa wore a white shirt, his ten fingers smoothly typing on the keyboard, his expression focused and serious.
Su Xian's heart skipped a beat. She pursed her lips, stepped forward, and put the milk down. Lin Zhiyuan didn't even look up before saying thank you.
Su Xian maintained her standard smile and stood there quietly watching him.
"You can get off..." Lin Zhiyuan looked up and glanced around, but his words trailed off.
Su Xuan winked playfully, her smile widening. "Mr. Lin, do you still need me?"
Lin Zhiyuan lowered his eyes, calmly picked up the cup and took a sip of milk as if nothing had happened.
I saw a flicker of surprise in her eyes when I first saw her; she's such a good actress. Oh well, she's the one in the wrong.
Su Xian placed the tray on the table, sat down next to him, and put her arm around his.
"Are you still angry with me?" Su Xian opened her eyes wide and looked at him with the most innocent gaze. She said softly, "I was wrong, I'm sorry."
Lin Zhiyuan remained unmoved, staring intently at the computer screen.
Even though his fingers were on the keyboard, he didn't move an inch.
We can only try our best again.
Su Xian's voice became even softer, "I've cleared out the next two weeks. I'll go wherever you go, so don't think I'm clingy."
I've never acted like this before, it's really not my style.
Su Xian shook his arm and asked sweetly, "Zhiyuan, what will it take for you to forgive me?"
Lin Zhiyuan remained silent, but Su Xian was certain that when she acted coquettishly just now, the corner of his mouth twitched slightly.
Su Xian decided to add fuel to the fire one last time. She whispered in Lin Zhiyuan's ear, "I promise you I'll try that position you mentioned last time."
The pose that made her blush just thinking about it, Su Xian quickly finished speaking, afraid that she would regret it.
The man who had been playing the iceberg finally turned around and looked at her leisurely. "Then tell me where you went wrong."
Su Xian lowered her head, rubbing her thumbs and forefingers together repeatedly, looking quite like a child who had done something wrong.
Do you remember the night before you left Tahiti?
“I was in a bad mood at the time because I was thinking about how good you were to your ex-girlfriends. Just thinking about it made me incredibly sad.”
“At the charity gala that day, I kept watching you from behind. Seeing other women laughing and talking with you made me very unhappy. I regret not choosing to stand openly by your side that night.”
“You know what? I’ve always been afraid. I’m afraid that one day I’ll end up like Winona. That’s why I’m afraid to be your date, afraid to integrate into your circle, afraid to let others know about our relationship, afraid to let you know how jealous I am, and even afraid to rely on you too much.”
"That way, when that day really comes, I think I won't be so sad."
Su Xian lowered her eyes, trying to hide her emotions, but Lin Zhi carefully cupped her cheeks. In his eyes, besides the tenderness that captivated her, there was also a sense of cherishing.
He looked at her as if she were a beloved treasure.
"You are the most special person to me, and I will never abandon you."
Su Xian felt a lump in her throat and hugged Lin Zhiyuan tightly, hiding in his strong embrace, desperately trying to hold back the tears welling up in her eyes.
She had played many roles and heard countless lines, but none could compare to that one sentence—so simple yet so beautiful. The roar of the airplane engines filled her ears, and Su Xian felt a little dizzy, perhaps dizzy with happiness.
"Also, there was something I said that day that I deliberately wanted to annoy you."
Which sentence?
Su Xian coughed lightly, "Opportunities to film nude scenes are actually very, very rare."
"Yes, I know."
"Also, I've already finished filming my scenes for that movie, and I didn't listen to you this time."
"It's my fault, Xiaoxian. I didn't respect you enough, so I didn't trust your choices and even tried to interfere with your decisions. I'll change." Lin Zhiyuan hugged her tighter and continued, "But from now on, don't keep things to yourself. You must tell me, okay?"
"good."
Su Xian and Lin Zhiyuan chatted on and on, from the funny stories about her filming to what he did for Christmas, and how she almost missed his flight.
As they chatted, Su Xian fell asleep and closed her eyes, until Lin Zhiyuan gently shook her awake. Su Xian sat up groggily, the blanket draped over her slipping onto her legs. It was already daylight outside the porthole; she had actually slept on the sofa all night.
After a quick wash and a meal, Su Xian took Lin Zhiyuan's hand and walked to the cabin door. The air in London was still damp and chilly in winter. The staff waiting at the bottom of the gangway paused for a moment when they saw Su Xian in her flight attendant uniform, but then greeted her with normal expressions.
Su Xian smiled, pursing her lips.
"Don't catch a cold." Lin Zhiyuan took off his black coat and draped it over Su Xuan. "What are you thinking about that makes you so happy?"
Su Xian grabbed her collar and tugged at Lin Zhiyuan's suit sleeve with one hand. He stopped and leaned down slightly, waiting for her to speak.
"Won't people think you've run off with a flight attendant? And that's another story of your romantic escapades."
Lin Zhiyuan smiled helplessly, reached out and flicked Su Xuan's forehead, then pulled her into the car.
The Bentley left the airport, drove on the M25 for a while, then turned onto a country road, and finally stopped after passing through an arched iron gate.
In front of the vast lawn stands a massive three-story manor. Its rectangular, symmetrical exterior gives it a dignified appearance, while the stone railings along the roof's edge are its crown. The honey-colored sandstone exterior walls add a touch of warmth to the somber sky, making it like a restrained and elegant English gentleman.
As soon as Su Xian stepped into the hall and was about to admire the interior, Lin Zhiyuan picked her up in his arms.
"Put me down quickly," Su Xian whispered.
"Don't worry, they won't dare to look."
Su Xian clung to Lin Zhiyuan's shoulder in embarrassment, glancing out of the corner of her eye to see that the servants had already lowered their heads.
Lin Zhiyuan ran up the steps in two strides, went straight to a room on the second floor, and slammed the door shut with his long legs. Su Xian's feet had barely touched the ground when Lin Zhiyuan pressed her against the door and kissed her passionately.
Su Xian's passion was stirred by him, and she responded to him passionately, kissing him and pushing him against the wall. The soft, warm coat on her shoulders fell to her feet, and Su Xian couldn't help but shiver.
Lin Zhiyuan lifted her up and led her to the fireplace in the living room. She sat sideways on his lap in a dark blue wool armchair and kissed him.
Lin Zhiyuan placed his hand on her waist, impatiently trying to unzip her skirt. Su Xian pressed his hand down, released his lips, and stood up.
She untied her hair tie, letting her thick black hair fall loose, and with her slender white fingers, she opened the ribbon around the collar of her shirt and covered his face.
Su Xian turned around and met Lin Zhiyuan's burning gaze. "Do you like it?"
Even hotter than the flames burning in the fireplace were the two figures on the carpet, Su Xuan's hands sweating profusely in the wool carpet.
The bedroom door was tightly closed, and the rolling hills outside the glass window gradually disappeared into the night. The two people behind the wine-red bed curtains had long forgotten the time.
Lin Zhiyuan had not forgotten her promise on the plane. They awkwardly and clumsily tried to please each other, wishing they could pour out all their longing.
Her body felt light, as if she were floating on clouds, and she could only hold onto Lin Zhiyuan tightly.
At that moment, she felt that she could probably never leave him again.
