Chapter Twenty-Six
The filming of "Snow Abyss" has finally come to an end after three months. At the wrap party, Su Xian put down the long knife she was using to cut a cake, and a microphone was shoved into her hand, but she was still a little dazed.
From the moment she was cast as Xue, she read the script countless times, wrote a detailed character biography, then went through intensive training and filming. In the middle of the filming, the project was almost halted and the actress was replaced because of her own issues. Now that filming has wrapped up, she has spent far more time on this role than three months.
Su Xuan's gaze swept over the large group of staff members standing on the scene. Everyone here had put in just as much effort as she had into "Snow Abyss," all for the sake of presenting a good work to the audience. And standing here at this moment, she felt that her efforts had been worthwhile.
Su Xian picked up the microphone and said, "Thank you everyone! Well, this summer has been the most difficult one I've ever experienced..."
At this point, a low chuckle came from the crowd. Su Xian couldn't help but smile as well, and continued, "But it was also my luckiest summer. I was lucky to encounter snow, and I was also lucky to be able to work with everyone."
"I believe our efforts will not be in vain, and I look forward to the early broadcast of 'Snow Abyss'."
Applause erupted from all around. "Snow Abyss is a huge hit!" someone shouted first, and everyone wore a happy smile.
Su Xian, holding flowers, was squeezed in the middle by everyone. The "1, 2, 3" coming from the loudspeaker instantly silenced the noisy surroundings.
Happy wrap-up!
Su Xian's voice was drowned out by the flashes of light, freezing this moment of joy forever.
Back in the port city, Su Xian spent most of the day at home packing her luggage for the beach trip. As evening fell, a black Phantom pulled up in front of the courtyard. The driver took Su Xian's luggage, and seeing Lin Zhiyuan waiting for her by the car, Su Xian couldn't help but smile.
"You still haven't told me where we're going." Su Xuan fastened her seatbelt and turned around.
“Didn’t you say we should go to the beach?” Lin Zhiyuan lifted her chin and looked at her.
"But you still haven't told me where we're going."
"Tahiti, the sea there is beautiful, you will like it."
"You really like the seaside?" Lin Zhiyuan asked. "Having grown up in Hong Kong, haven't you seen enough of the sea?"
“The sea is different in every place. I always feel very relaxed when I’m at the beach, but I rarely have the opportunity to go.”
"I'll do whatever you want these next few days," Lin Zhiyuan said softly, lowering his head. "I'll do whatever I want, and you'll do it with me too."
His warm breath brushed against Su Xian's ear, and thinking of the scene at his house last time, Su Xian couldn't help but blush and her heart race.
Why do you keep thinking about these things?
“I mean, I want to go out to sea or surf, and you have to come with me. What do you think I’m thinking?” Lin Zhiyuan laughed at her.
Su Xian felt both embarrassed and ashamed, and turned her head to move closer to the window.
The Phantom stopped at the FBO of Hong Kong Airport. After quickly passing through customs and security, Su Xuan and Lin Zhiyuan transferred to a private car to reach the tarmac.
Su Xian stepped onto the gangway and entered the custom-built Boeing aircraft, its interior decorated in a minimalist yellow and white color scheme. After passing a small meeting area, there was a bedroom with a shower, and further down the corridor were a separate dining room and lounge area.
Su Xuan suppressed her shock at the aerial mansion and followed Lin Zhiyuan to sit down in the rest area at the back of the plane.
The cabin door closed, and after takeoff, the plane entered a smooth flight. Several flight attendants served meals and red wine.
"Just something simple to eat." Lin Zhiyuan unfolded the napkin beside him and laid it out for her.
Looking at the steak, mashed potatoes, and fried asparagus in front of her, along with cream of mushroom soup and salmon tartare, she felt that this was not exactly simple.
"How long will it take to fly?" Su Xian picked up a spoon and took a small sip of soup.
Lin Zhiyuan looked up and glanced at the flight attendant standing beside him. The flight attendant turned her wrist and looked at her watch. "Ms. Su, the estimated flight time is about 10 hours and 30 minutes. We will arrive at Tahiti Airport at around 1 pm local time."
"If you're tired, go to sleep after you finish eating."
Su Xian vaguely agreed, thinking of the big bed in the bedroom she had just seen. She figured that if she went in, Lin Zhiyuan would probably mess with her too, so it was safer to stay in the rest area.
After dinner, Lin Zhiyuan worked on his computer, while Su Xian leaned back on the sofa reading scripts—all sent to her by Bai Lin recently. The first one was a big-budget historical drama. Su Xian clicked on it and glanced at the synopsis and the first few episodes. The plot was clichéd, and the characters lacked originality; she started yawning after only two pages.
"Go to sleep if you're sleepy." Lin Zhiyuan kissed the top of her head. "You don't need to stay with me."
Su Xian shook her head. "Later." As soon as she finished speaking, she yawned again.
"Sweetie, go to sleep first. I'll come and keep you company after I'm done here," Lin Zhiyuan coaxed her softly.
Perhaps due to the excessive energy expenditure from filming, Su Xian was too tired to continue.
"Then I'll go to sleep, don't..." Su Xian didn't know what to say, "Um... don't wake me up."
Lin Zhiyuan smiled helplessly, turned around, and picked Su Xian up in his arms.
He carried Su Xuan to the bed and covered her with a blanket. He kissed the tip of her nose and said, "Go to sleep. I won't disturb you."
Su Xian hummed in agreement, but couldn't hold on any longer and closed her eyes.
Because of the unfamiliar environment, Su Xian didn't sleep soundly. Half asleep, she vaguely heard Lin Zhiyuan washing up. Su Xian groggily turned over and moved to the side of the bed, wanting to make room for Lin Zhiyuan to lie down and sleep.
"Little sleepyhead, time to get up. You won't be able to sleep tonight if you sleep too long."
Su Xian wiped the wet lipstick mark from her face and mumbled, "What time is it?"
"We will land in a little over two hours."
Having slept for so long, Su Xian suddenly woke up, opened her eyes, and sat up.
Lin Zhiyuan sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. "Get up and eat something. I need to make a call. I'll wait for you in the back."
Su Xian threw off the covers, tied her hair back with a hair tie on her wrist, walked to the wall and opened her suitcase. In addition to toiletries, there was a black short-sleeved shirt and a white satin long skirt.
Lin Zhiyuan was wearing a white polo shirt. Su Xian smiled slightly, took out the white long dress, and went into the bathroom.
After taking a shower, Su Xian combed her hair while checking for anything she might have forgotten. Her gaze fell on the white bed, where the blanket was half-lifted, while the other side was neatly arranged, showing no signs of having been slept on.
Su Xian stopped combing her hair halfway through. Had Lin Zhiyuan not come in to sleep last night? She walked to the dining room, where Lin Zhiyuan was on the phone with his back to her.
Su Xuan sat down on the sofa, and a flight attendant approached and asked in a low voice, "Ms. Su, would you like tea, coffee, or milk?"
"Black tea and milk, thank you."
"Okay, please wait a moment."
Lin Zhiyuan hung up the phone and sat down next to her. Su Xian looked at his face and saw that he didn't seem tired.
She couldn't help but ask, "Didn't you get any rest last night?"
"I'm resting here." Lin Zhiyuan kissed her cheek. "Besides, didn't you tell me not to wake you?"
Su Xian knew she was in the wrong, but she still whispered in her defense, "I told you not to do that, not that I wouldn't let you in."
"What do you not want?" Lin Zhiyuan looked at her with interest.
Why do you love flirting so much? Su Xian pouted, wanting to retort.
"Ms. Su, your breakfast." The flight attendant placed the tray on the table, her expression remaining unchanged even as she saw the two flirting.
The plate contained a traditional Full English Breakfast. Su Xian poured milk into a teacup, stirred it with a small spoon, and when she looked down to get some bread, she found that Lin Zhiyuan had already spread butter on it and handed it to her.
How does he know her so well? Su Xian felt a sweet warmth in her heart, and the corners of her lips silently curled up.
"Are you still busy with a lot of things?" Su Xuan took a sip of milk tea, thinking that he was still talking about work this morning.
"I've been working on the reports these past few days, and they're almost done. Now I can spend more time with you."
Su Xian's lips curled up in a wide smile, and she looked forward to the holiday even more.
The private jet landed at Tahiti Airport, where Su Xian and Lin Zhiyuan transferred to a seaplane to Poe Rava Island. Looking out the window, several small islands surrounded by coral reefs formed an atoll on the sapphire-blue water. At the center of the atoll was a lagoon, an extremely shallow blue lagoon that shimmered like jelly in the sunlight.
"All the small islands in Tahiti are called motu, but this island is called Poe Rava."
Lin Zhiyuan led Su Xian off the plane, and the moist air rushed towards them, the unique scent of the sea.
What does "Poe Rava" mean?
“Tahiti’s black pearls are very famous, and Poe Rava means black pearl in the local language. Our family changed the name after we bought this place many years ago.”
Hearing that it was a private island, Su Xian wasn't surprised at all. Perhaps spending so much time with him made her gradually take his astonishing wealth for granted.
Su Xian and Lin Zhiyuan walked hand in hand on the wooden boardwalk, where a welcoming lady carried a basket woven from palm leaves, filled with small white flowers.
She took a flower from the basket, smiled, and stepped forward. "Miss Su, welcome to Tahiti. This is our national flower, Tiare Tahiti. Please allow me to put it on you."
Just as Su Xian was about to bend down, she heard Lin Zhiyuan say, "I'll do it."
He picked out another flower from the basket and tucked it behind Su Xian's left ear. Su Xian raised her hand to touch her ear.
"It looks great." Lin Zhiyuan looked at her with a smile.
The greeters, carrying baskets, led them along the wooden boardwalk.
"The wood used in the buildings here is all sourced locally. Currently, the island mainly uses solar energy and coconut oil fuel, and the air conditioners are all seawater air conditioners, making every effort to be as environmentally friendly as possible."
The greeter stopped in front of a wooden cabin, and the staff member at the front opened the door, put away the luggage, and then left.
The wooden cabin's pointed roof was covered with thick palm leaf thatch, and the door faced the living room's floor-to-ceiling windows. The sea breeze blew the sheer curtains, so it wasn't too hot. Su Xian walked to the balcony, past the pool, leaving her slippers on the steps. The sand under her feet was fine and white, and a little warm from the sun.
The large fan-shaped leaves of the coconut trees cast large shadows on the sand. Su Xian followed the rhythmic lapping of the sea, walked through the low, dense bushes, and strolled along the beach.
"What are you thinking about?" Lin Zhiyuan took her hand from behind.
"I think you're right, I really like it here."
"I can tell, you've been smiling ever since you got off the plane."
Su Xian touched her face, and it seemed that was indeed the case.
The almost transparent, azure seawater lapped back and forth at my feet, swirling up tiny bubbles and leaving footprints one after another on the soft, damp sand.
The footprints suddenly changed from four lines to two, and inside the large footprints was another pair of fair feet, which nimbly followed the owner of the footprints.
Su Xian, with her head down, almost bumped into Lin Zhiyuan, who had already stopped. He squatted down, reached out and grabbed her wet skirt, twisting it a few times.
The fiery red sunset had already sunk more than halfway into the sea. Lin Zhiyuan stood up, his damp fingertips brushing against Su Xian's ear as he removed the white flower.
Do you know why it's worn in the left ear?
Su Xian shook her head.
"Because in Tahiti tradition, wearing Tiare Tahiti on the left ear signifies having someone you love."
Lin Zhiyuan's hand landed on Su Xian's waist, and his kiss, as soft as a feather, made her heart itch. She parted her lips slightly and accepted his intrusion. His tongue swept across her palate, and Su Xian's body couldn't help but tremble slightly. She tried her best to suppress the surging impulse in her heart.
Even though they had kissed many times, she still found herself captivated by Lin Zhiyuan's kisses, whether they were forceful and domineering or gentle and tender like this one. Every time he kissed her, her body would go weak.
As the last rays of sunlight disappeared on the horizon, Su Xian vaguely heard Lin Zhiyuan whispering in her ear.
This seemed to be the first time he had ever said those three words to her.
